The Importance Of Perseverance

Every person on this earth experiences pain. There are no exceptions, no anomalies. The fact that we endure pain, does not mean that all we ever experience will be pain. Lance Armstrong once said, “Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.” From this, we can take that if we persevere, pain will eventually end, but if we surrender to that pain, we will suffer the effects for much longer than we would have had we pushed through the struggle. There are three main places where we can see success through perseverance: in our careers, emotions, and education. In all of these subjects, true success is achieved with plenty of perseverance. All of these are opportunities to connect with Lance Armstrong’s motivational statement regarding perseverance. If we take this and learn from it, we are likely to experience success in our own lives.

This past week I chose to apply the concept of perseverance with my youngest son, Paul. Paul is eleven years old and preparing to enter the sixth grade. This is a significant transition as he will be entering middle school. I selected this concept for several reasons not the least of which is the fact that performance character has not been an emphasis in my parenting style. Having served as his Sunday school teacher for all of his eleven years of life, he has a firm foundation in the area of moral character. Additionally, Paul struggles with math concepts. During the previous summer, I experimented with giving him a preview of the upcoming school year’s math curriculum. This yielded outstanding results in both his grades and his performance in standardized tests.

This spring break I practiced tennis and I also got moved down to jv because I wasn’t going to my tnnis practice when I was supposed to I was a varsity player so I kinda felt bad because I didn’t tried my best when I played my match that’s why I gt moved down to jv but ima try to get back in the varsity team I just need to practice more and prove my coach that I derserve that varsity spot. Today im planin to challenge my ol varsity doubles partnr and if im beat him ima get my varsity spot once again. My friend brain and Daniel have gotten better at tennis they moved two spots up in the chart by the way im numbr 13 in the chart my friend brian is number 6 and my friend Daniel is number

Pain has been the name of the game in my life, through hospital visits to almost dying this is my story of perseverance. I have been faced with unfavorable odds. I have been fighting my whole life to get where I am today.

She spent almost 2 years in an attic with 7 other people, to hide from the Nazis who were taking over many countries.

What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice one is willing to make in the name of success. As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The goal and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all efforts to succeed.

When difficulties come we have the opportunity to push through toward our goals. As I went through life, I learned I needed to keep pushing whether I did it by myself or with somebody else's support.
