The Importance Of Personal Devices In The Classroom

Guidelines:  Students and parents/guardians must abide by Code of Conduct of the school.  A teacher has the right to allow and control how personal devices are used in and out of the classroom once students are on the school compound.  Devices which are approved by the school must be in silent mode while on the compound, unless instructed otherwise by a teacher. Headphones are only allowed if the teacher agrees.  Devices may not be used during quizzes, or tests unless directed by the teacher.  Devices may not be used for personal calls or text messaging unless permission is sought during emergencies.  Students may not post photographic images or video of persons during school hours or during school activities, unless otherwise allowed by a teacher.  Only computer files on internet sites relevant to the classroom curriculum can be accesses while at school.  The IT department can access any student device which is connected the school’s network. Therefore there should be no complaint concerning student privacy. Students and Parents/Guardians acknowledge that:  Any attempt to bypass the school’s network filters is prohibited.  Any device suspected of having a virus or causing technology problems will be collected by the school and examined.  Hacking’, altering or bypassing the school’s network security policies is prohibited.  Devices are subject to random searches by school administrators and any locked or password protected device must be unlocked at the request of a school administrator. Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Devices: Everyone is responsible for his or her device and should use it responsibly and appropriately. The school takes no responsibility for stolen, lost, or damaged devices, including lost or corrupted data on those devices. While school employees will help students identify how to keep personal devices secure, students will have the final responsibility for securing their personal devices. The school however will do all in its power to assist students in recovering their stolen devices. This can include random searches and or calling in the police to question suspects after contacting the parents of the
