Currently, Seward Child Care Center (SCCC) has been, in their own words, “flying blind” when it comes to their recruiting for a Lead Teacher. They always post on Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and Craigslist. Recently, they have tried posting on college job boards, specifically MCTC, Metro State, and Augsburg’s own career site for its students. According to Lily, the most response to a posting comes from Craigslist, and they have hired a few substitute teachers through the Augsburg job posting. Our group has come up with a few ways to try and recruit qualified applicants for a Lead Teacher position at SCCC. We believe SCCC should use the means of the internet, online college recruiting, post flyers in the local community, and use their …show more content…
Lastly, advertising a Lead Teacher position through social media, such as Facebook, would be a beneficial recruiting method, because Facebook has the “share” option. This allows for word to spread about the job posting through one simple post. Although a disadvantage to internet recruiting is that there can be an overload of resumes, we do not foresee this as being an issue for SCCC. Finding a qualified candidate is extremely important to the organization, the board of directors, and the children, so the more applicants there are to choose from, the better. The second most valuable method in recruiting for this specific position is targeting applicants from area colleges. Lily mentioned SCCC has used Augsburg’s career page to post previous positions, so this is a method SCCC is already familiar with. There are seven private universities (Hamline, St. Catherine’s, St. Thomas, Macalester, Concordia-St. Paul, Augsburg, and Bethel) located right in the Twin Cities that would be very smart to recruit soon to be graduates for the Lead Teacher position. Focusing on these seven local colleges would be the most beneficial since the locations of the campuses are all fairly close to SCCC’s location. Many students from these colleges and universities will want to stay in the metro area after graduation so these are the perfect schools to recruit
This past school year I have been social chair of Nursing Students Without Borders. I have organized, implemented and hosted social events throughout the Fall of 2016 and the Spring of 2017. This past year the leadership of NSWB has worked to make NSWB community focused which is why the position I held was added this past year. I have been able to mentor a pre-nursing student through NSWB. I was able to answer the questions honestly from a pre-nursing student and provide support during the application process. I have been able to participate in leadership meetings and have learned how to plan well and how to improve event planning.
Mr. Killingsworth discussed some of the recruitment strategies used by District 11 to recruit and hire a diverse group who are focused on student achievement, no matter what position they are hired for. His goal during recruitment is to find the candidates that fit the descriptions of what his principals need. Some of the recruitment strategies used by District 11 include: school websites, Facebook, and branding. Branding is use of the district logo so candidates know who they are when you see their logo. At job fairs his job is to meet, greet and brand. LinkedIn is one of the target groups District 11 uses for passive candidates. When marketing for a particular school Mr. Killingsworth reminds administrators to always shed a positive light on their school.
I am currently a student at Western Michigan University studying Early Childhood Professional Education. I am looking into jobs for this upcoming fall semester, and if given the chance, the Children’s Place Learning Center would be a great opportunity to continue gaining experience for my field of study. I am writing to express my interest in a position as a daycare employee. I am experienced with children from ages 2 ½ to 12. My previous job at a daycare has given me the reassurance that working with children is my passion. I enjoy seeing children grow academically and personally.
There is a great volume of literature on the need for effective leadership skills among tutors in order to promote student learning through quality instruction. As mentioned in the previous chapter, this realization is significant for many reasons. As such, this chapter reinforces the research question through a critical analysis of the existing literature with the aim of coming up with a different line of thought. As such, the study could offer a new dimension of leadership perception that is appropriate in fostering student learning in the modern and changing school setting. Although such characteristics are common across various sectors, the findings of this research put focus specifically on educators with the purpose of improving the quality of education and improved curriculum outcomes. The study could also employ various leadership theories to ensure the achievement of reliable findings.
The goals of a recruitment process within a school district are to identify all viable applicants and to motivate individuals to seek employment within your district. The importance of recruitment within a district lies heavily on the change in dynamics as it relates to federal legislation and such. There have been so many more demands placed on districts and teachers that finding the best possible candidate for a position is of upmost importance. The reliance on old ways of recruiting is no longer always effective either. “Walk-ins” are not always as available as in the past, there are more buy-outs and turnovers within current staff, new positions are always being created to meet the higher demands, and special talents are needed to
Leaders don’t create followers, they create more leaders. This quote by Tom Peters best summarizes my philosophy of teacher leadership. As a teacher leader, it is up to me to inspire, direct, and encourage others so that stronger teacher, administrative, and student leaders may be born from the process. Teacher leadership involves collaboration between teachers, administrators, and teacher leaders with the goal of positively impacting the student learning environment. With student learning as the ultimate objective, teacher leadership “becomes an indispensable avenue for school improvement” (Coggins & McGovern, 2014, p. 21). So how do I as a teacher leader begin this process? I believe that teacher leadership can be achieved through three means: modeling, mentoring, and collaborating.
In order to reach a broad spectrum of applicants, Lakeland utilizes many types of recruiting mediums, some of which are chosen to reach a targeted audience. All open positions which the City is accepting applications for are posted on the main City website, www.lakelandgov.net. Lakeland also advertises many of its positions vacancies on additional websites such as GovernmentJobs and Indeed. In addition to this, Lakeland utilizes several different social media platforms to reach more people. The use of applications like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter is become more popular. Public safety positions are also posted on the corresponding department’s Facebook page, Lakeland Fire Department and Lakeland Police Department. Then, there are industry specific websites that Lakeland will utilize to post recruiting advertisements and requests for resumes for specialized positions in the Engineering, Utility, or even Finance industries, to name a
Based on the available positions, the targets for this recruiting campaign are candidates who are currently in high school, fresh out of high school and current college students. The reason for this, there is a large
I write to express my interest in the Childcare Assistant part-time position at the Foundation Communities. I found out about this position through Indeed.com. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin about a year ago and I currently work for the Boys and Girls Club of Austin as an Education Director at Galindo Elementary School. I believe that this position will complement my current career goals and that I have the essential qualities that the Childcare Assistant position requires.
In order to be considered a candidate an applicant must posse the basic qualifications of the position. If Eastern Washington can find a way to encourage or give incentives their employees to refer only those qualified for the position, it will greatly strengthen this method. This is because it will cost Easter Washington less money due to the fact that they will not have to sift through a bunch of resumes of under qualified candidates saving them a great deal of time. Referrals have a very high one year retention rate and also a very low cost for a one year survival compared to kiosks and media. If Eastern Washington is able to recruit more through referrals they will have more employees who they can retain for longer periods of time. This is important because Tanglewood’s main recruiting strategy is to promote from within.
I am currently a registration coordinator at Bethel University; one process of hiring within the registration department is hiring internal and external using promotion tools such as social media, billboards, and radio advertising. When working at any University, it is important to place individuals in positions that are capable of interacting with students on a daily basic and are still able to multitask. Some important recruitment tools as listed in out attend section would be to hire advertising agency, increase advertising budgets, improve benefit packages and enhance training (Nassar, 2007). One of the benefits of working at Bethel University is that staff and immediate family members have the opportunity to obtain under grad degrees

In the article How Teachers Lead Teachers by Jason Margolis he states that “ frame new approaches as easy and adaptable”. What the author is trying to say is that if you have new information about something you should make sure that it is approachable. I think we should use this in our presentation because it would be a good idea to make sure everything that the students learn that the teachers understand the teenage brain. The author also states that “use humor”. What Margolis means by this is that you should have humor in your topic because some people remember things better if they laugh about it or if they think it’s funny. I think we should use humor because we need to keep our crowd interest in what we are talking about and not get bored
Effective school leadership today must combine the traditional school leadership duties such as teacher evaluation, budgeting, scheduling, and facilities maintenance with a deep involvement with specific aspects of teaching and learning. Effective instructional leaders are intensely involved in curricular and instructional issues that directly affect student achievement (Cotton, 2003). The writer of this paper acknowledges that school principals should play the role of instructional leaders, not just a school manager. The reality is that are many demands on a principals time and management skills making it difficult for most of them to spend time in classrooms, when performing teacher evaluation. Principals often make sure that teachers
The concept and practice of teacher leadership have gained momentum in the past two decades. Teachers are assuming more leadership functions at both instructional and organizational levels of practice. Empirical literature reveals effects of teacher leadership practice, teacher leader characteristics, and conditions that promote and challenge teacher leadership.
