Art is a form of human expression. Art can be seen as the artist sleight of hand on his mood. Art is in various media from posters to public wall of which we call “graffiti”. Art is elusive as the use of colors shapes and the surface used adds a new dimension. Art portrays various ideas, feelings such as triumph, love, happiness, sorrow and boredom in loss to mention a few. Art is beauty and creativity. During man’s evolution art has progressed over in its most primitive state up to its most modernized versions today.

Ancient Egyptians, Aztecs, Incas and Mayans created many meticulous pieces of art. Some of the meticulous pieces of art are masks, pyramids, jewelry, wall paintings, tombs, sarcophagi. The primal Romans and Greeks showed their appreciation of life through art. India used art to show their dance and their religions. The African art is symbolic of their tribal cuffs as seen of their totem poles.

Art has always been an interesting and creative way for people to express themselves and what they believe in. Through art, people’s actions speak louder than their words and they are able to communicate so many thoughts and feelings simply through painting or drawing. Dating back to prehistoric times, mural paintings on cave walls were a major piece of Indian history. Typically found on the face of a mountain, people would both carve and paint on the cave walls, depicting designs ranging from portraits, scenes from their lives or animals, to Buddha and his teachings. While many chose to base their creations off their personal belief, some stuck to oriental designs. The Jogimara Cave for example did not include religion but rather paintings of dancing humans and animals(Wondermondo). There was however an overarching religious theme as religion was a major part of people’s everyday lives. Unfortunately, many of these paintings and creations have been destroyed, left with only small remains. These remains are still very useful as they allow us to get a glimpse into what our ancestors lives were like. After all, these paintings were the catalyst to Buddhist paintings all across Asia(Frontline.in). Art Education is very important for students. A growing body of research suggests that the arts offer students a unique, valuable way to grow intellectually, socially and emotionally. These things are all associated with creativity. Schools today want to focus more on the four core classes math, science, english, and social studies which is acceptable for some students who are academically stronger in school. Opposed to the students who have a harder time focusing in school and we see them drawing when they need to be taking notes. Creativity today has become less and less more visible in classrooms in America. Due to the expansion of technology people see that it takes less time to look an idea up on the internet rather than taking the time to come up with something original.
When going into an art exhibit one does not do justice to the artwork and their own self if they cannot decipher the message trying to be conveyed via the artwork. The form is the gate way and the eye is the key which helps to unlock the content or the meaning behind the great symbolism for our minds to decipher.
