And for me, it 's about having that right for everybody, gay, straight or bisexual” ( Smith and Shubert 2013). 1. Definition of homosexuality and same-sex marriages Homosexuality is a status of sexual fascination or sexual behavior between two same-sex people(Wikipedia 2017). In other words, it is the loving or sexual relationship of two people having the same gender. Homosexuality, similar to heterosexuality and bisexuality, it is the sexual direction which “ refers to an enduring pattern of emotional, romantic, and/or sexual attractions to men, women, or both sexes” and “ refers to a person’s sense of identity based on those attractions, related behaviors, and membership in a community of others who share those attractions” ( Sexual orientation and homosexuality 2013).
Same-sex marriage (gay marriage or homosexual marriage) is a kind of marriage, which is a ceremonial union between two people having sex alike. Throughout history, around the world, there are a variety of same-sex couples who are on their own initiative to marry and live together. However, they are not admitted as legal marriages until modern times. The
The definition of marriage has changed over time. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the United States defined marriage as a union between a consenting man and woman, of non-African decent (Stahlberg, 2008, p. 443). This, however, changed after the civil war. In 1868 two consenting adults of opposite gender could marry someone of the same race, but this was also restructured in 1967 to allow marriage of all consenting adults of opposite genders regardless of race (Stahlberg, 2008, p. 443). Today, the law looks very different. Recently, on June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples have the right to marriage (gay marriage, 2015).
Marriage is considered to be the rite of passage from an religious point of view, it is considered as holy matrimony before the eyes of God. Attraction between individuals of the same sex has been a topic of debate. However, over the past few years gay individuals made a decision to our grievances of oppression despite receiving tremendous critics from the public. Initially, gay marriages were in the rise of heated debates between the supporters and critics among the church being at the forefront. However, times are different now , and gays are becoming more accepted in the society as well as all that pertains to daily lives such as marriage, gay events just to mention a few. This argumentative essay focuses on the central issues of gay marriage and evaluating arguments on whether the gay marriage should be legalized.
Gay marriage has been one of the most common topic under discussion, arguments and quarrels since couple of years in almost every nation of the world. Looking deep down to the region of United States, same-sex marriage or gay marriage has not been legalized and documented in most of its jurisdictions. However, it is prudent to note that with the beginning of the twenty first century, only a few of US states have legally recognized the gay marriage through court verdicts and legislative proceedings and have lawfully allowed the gay people to get into a relationship (Wolfson 2004).
In the past few decades, the question of allowing for same-sex marriage is a recurring topic of controversy. In the houses of same-sex couples, the need for equal rights is of great importance. Currently, many states ban the marriage of same-sex couples and do not view a marriage between same-sex couples as an official marriage. These states quote the Constitutional definition of marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Therefore, with this definition, the marriage of a man and a man or a woman and a woman is unconstitutional. As of the issue date of this article, the Supreme Court had not made a national decision on same-sex marriage and the benefits entitled to that marriage. This CQ Researcher journal focuses on the topic of

There are many controversies surrounding today's world, such as abortion, animal testing, and social reform issues. It seems that no one can come to a common agreement on the legitimacy of these topics. Personal characteristics, such as upbringing, culture, religion and ethnicity, all play a role in determining one's feelings on a given controversial issue. However, one of the most protested and discussed issues in current political debate is same-sex marriage. There is no right or wrong answer to this question, only hard pressed arguments expressing speculation regarding supposed outcomes, benefits and possible tribulations that would come along with the endorsement of gay marriage. Such ideas are shown
From the philosophical points of Kantianism, Utilitarianism, and Virtue Ethics on same-sex marriage, there are good reasons which are relevant to good will, duty, the principle of utility, and eudaimonia to support same-sex marriage. Although the Supreme Court has ruled that the Constitution places the right to same-sex marriage, people who stick to conservative position on same-sex relationships believe that a same-sex relationship violates moral and religious beliefs. Especially, religious objectors on same-sex marriage are a highly controversial topic because people who believe on religious grounds that define a marriage as a legal union between one man and one woman to pursue traditional family values. However, everything must change. The powerful social movements have accelerated the same-sex marriage issue in regard to the fundamental rights and the social justice. The social change involves inevitable consequences of the issue; so, the Supreme Court’s decision on same-sex marriage has a validation. Therefore, Homosexual people should be entitled to federal marriage rights and
Gay marriage is also referred to as same sex marriage. Same sex relationships occur when men and women are attracted to someone of the same gender as themselves. According to many opponents, gay marriages can be described as more of the abandonment of gender distinctions; because one cannot have same sex marriage while still believing that gender is relevant. For that reason, same genders getting married denies the obvious purpose of marriage between a man and woman, which is procreation. This research will analyze the arguments for and against gay marriages and the religious view of same sex marriages.
Gay marriage is a topic that is heavily debated in this day and age. Whether or not it should be legal for homosexuals to get married is a theme that authors Andrew Sullivan, who wrote “For Gay Marriage” and William J. Bennett, who wrote “Against Gay Marriage” use in there articles. The main points the authors both discus is the meaning of marriage itself, the social impact same sex marriage will have on society, and the influence on children and teens. Although, the authors have similar themes disused in their topics, there are more differences in how they view same sex marriage.
Marriage is the legally or formally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship. Marriage is one of the most beautiful things that can happen between two people. It can be simply done even as easily as online, or your local court house. The marriage of the same gender, however, is not as easy done. Not only are homosexual couples faced with the judgment of the people they are also denied of their basic rights by the courts. Gay marriage has been one of the most controversial issues in the modern world currently. With many people discovering themselves and finding love with the same gender there have been a gap in the relationship and the ability to get married. People only view marriage as the union between a man and

As we know, same-sex marriage has been discussed and argued for a long time. Within the controversial topic of gay rights, there’s no area more controversial than same-sex marriage. And all of us ask ourselves if same-sex marriage should be legal or not. But the fact is that we have to start thinking about it as a moral and religious topic. The government shouldn’t legalize the same-sex marriage because the
The United States has been constructed around the ideas of sovereignty and free will. There were many movements that have taken place in history that have made this country’s policy on freedom so unique; unique in how the citizens value their morals. An every day American would think that being with the same sex is not normal, or is frowned upon. Recent studies show that half of all Americans believe that gay men and lesbians have a constitutional right to marry (Craighill). Same-sex marriage has caused many conflicts around the country and even the world with multiple stand points. World views on same-sex marriage are changing day to day. “Of the 15 countries worldwide to permit gay men and lesbians to marry, eight have done so since 2010.” (Desilver) It is becoming no longer acceptable to discriminate these couples, therefore the legalization of same- sex marriage should be universal. With the help of religious leaders, world role models, and many politicians, same-sex marriage can be influenced positively, and also help bring light to this modern acceptance. The legalization of same-sex marriage should be made in every state without any rules or regulations that come with the ability to be married.
Many same-sex couples want to be granted the right to legally marry. The reason is simple: They are in love with each other. They want to honor their relationship in the greatest way society has to offer, by making a public commitment stand together in good times and bad life brings. While they receive some state-level protections, they do not receive most of the Federal emotional and economic benefits and protections of marriage. They are denied their right to equal protection, both under the US Constitution and some state constitutions. The paper will point out that supporting gay marriage by means of legal recognition is the most appropriate form of recognition of the same-sex partnerships, because it eliminates discrimination promoted by the federal and some states' level. Referring to state court decisions of 2009 and 2012 and the well-known 2003 Lawrence vs. Texas decision of the Supreme Court, the paper will show that, currently very mixed pictures regarding the legality of the same-sex marriage on the Federal and (some) states' level urgently requires a solution by means of a nationwide legal recognition of the phenomenon. In its final parts, the paper will introduce opposing arguments and reasons on how to encounter them.
As we know, same-sex marriage has been a prominent issue that has so many arguments not just in the United States, but around the world over many years now. There is absolutely nothing more controversial than same-sex marriage in gay rights topic. Everyone has different opinions about same-sex marriage whether it should be legal or not. We now have to consider two aspects that are moral and religious. These two form a fundamental belief that same-sex couples and opposite-sex couples are different. Based on the definition of marriage, the view of religion, bad effects to children, and the lifestyle that should not be encouraged; therefore, the government should not legalize the same-sex marriage.
