Introduction The Hwange National Park is a tourist destination in a natural area where wildlife has roamed for centuries. Since the park has been in existence for nearly a century, it has developed and gone through the beginning stages of the TALC model, finally reached the stages where the park life cycle is coming to a close unless rejuvenation takes place. The Moissec Diffusionist model presents the progressive changes throughout the park. Therefore, the two models to analyze Hwange National Park within this study will be that of Butlers TALC model and Moissec’s Diffusionist model.

The park is situation in North Western region of Zimbabwe and lies against the border of Botswana. Hwange National Park is the largest national park within Zimbabwe, obtaining 14 650km squared of land, containing more than 500 recorded wildlife species (Zimparks.org, 2014). It is best known for its large elephant population and being the home of the famous, Cecil the lion.
The park consists of three main camps and various other smaller sites. The largest is Main Camp, situated in the North-Eastern part of the park close to the main entrance. Accommodation facilities range from lodges, chalets, cottages, caravan and camping sites, as well as other amenities such as a bar, restaurant, convenience store, souvenir shop and petrol station. 15kms away from Main Camp is a smaller camp called Umtshibi, while the last main camp is situated in the North-Western region of the park and is called Sinamatella after the robins in the western area (Zimparks.org, 2014).
