The Most Dangerous Game Compare And Contrast

A large island where the most dangerous things happened and a small town located in the Western Territory where there was war between two men both are similar and different in many ways. In the story, The Most Dangerous Game, written by Richard Connell, the main character, Rainsford, faced a situation where he had to be killed or play the game with the antagonist General Zaroff. In the film High Noon, written by Carl Foreman, the main character, Will Kane, faced a problem with the prisoner Frank Miller who soon comes back for sweet revenge. In both the film and the story, the setting and conflict are different; however, the characters are similar, which affects the plot of both stories.

In both the story and the film, they had different settings which made each of them different and unique in there own ways. "He saw no sign of a trail through the closely knit web of weeds and trees; it was easier to go along the shore, and Rainsford floundered along by the water" (Connell). As we can see in the citation, the setting in The Most Dangerous Game took place in a tropical island filled with trees and weeds. "They're making me run. I never run from anything before" (Foremen). In the story High Noon, Will Kane mentioned he has never run away from his problems. He returned to face Frank even though he's a bit afraid, but at the end he defeated him. Just like he admitted, he has never run away from his problems. This is similar to Rainsford because he faced General Zaroff even though he didn't think it was a good idea in the beginning. It was either play the game or get killed. As Will Kane, he faced his problem by defeating General Zaroff and defeating the game, which made both the protagonists similar. "I congratulate you," he said. "You have won the game."
