The most difficult challenge my generation will face is pollution. Every living being has a
job and a role to play in this world, but due to pollution and the disturbance it causes the
balance of nature has now shifted. Over the past couple of decades, pollution has become an
epidemic problem. The catastrophic impact it has on us is so severe that it even affects our
water and air, the two most essential elements on which all life depends upon.
Water is one of the most essential things humans need to survive. 75% of the human body is made of water and 70% of the earth is covered with water. Without water this world that we love would cease to exist. Over the past couple of decades, the water we’ve been drinking has been known to cause some health problems due to pollution. From minor illnesses such as rashes and diarrhea to major illnesses such as liver failure, respiratory problems and neurological effects. “Polluted drinking waters are a problem for about half of the world’s population. Each year there are about 250 million cases of water-based diseases, resulting in roughly 5 to 10 million deaths.” {http://www.pacinst.org}. To know that water, which we need to survive on is being contaminated to the point that it is posing a health threat to half the population is bothersome. We need water to survive and thrive on, and now we can’t even drink water without worrying what health risk the water poses. Polluting the water a few times is understandable and can
People say that "money makes the world go around." It may, but in the novel The Great Gatsby written by F. Scott Fitzgerald money is what causes greed and death. The novel is filled with multiple themes but one predominate theme that the author focuses on is immorality. The novel was written in the1920s which was a time that drew away from social and moral values and yearned for its greed and empty pursuit of pleasure. Gatsby, gains his wealth through bootlegging only because he wants to show Daisy his wealth. Sadly, his determination for his love is what gets him killed. The author uses different characters throughout the novel to present his theme. Symbols can also be found in The Great Gatsby. An example would be West Egg which
humans are around 78% water. All life on earth depends on it for survival, so
Water is the central well being of people and this planet. Life without water is hard to imagine. It’s hard to believe that people around the world live without water. John Thorson once said “Water links us to our neighbor in a way more profound than any other.” The substance that consumes nearly 75% of earth may become contaminated in more areas than we could ever imagine.
Water is one of the most important elements on Earth and also for our body. We need water to work and function properly and well. Without enough supply of water, our body will grind to a halt and collapse.
Self destruction and deprivation. A problem most may not think they have to deal with on a day to day basis. Especially since most people do not tear themselves apart piece by piece through guilt and denial, to the point at where they perish. Which is why in that regard, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale is not most people. In the novel, A Scarlet letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, one of main character, Reverend Dimmesdale, has committed one of the most horrific sins a man during his time in Puritan society could commit. Dimmesdale has slept with Hester Prynne, another main character, not only out of wedlock, but also while Hester was still married to another man named Roger Chillingsworth. This sin of adultery immediately brought down the wrath of society onto hester in the form of a scarlet ‘A’ for adultery that she must wear on her bosom for the rest of her life. But in dimmesdale’s case, he is let go without anyone other than Hester in town knowing of his sin. Not only does Chillingsworth make it his life’s mission to seek his revenge on the Reverend, but Dimmesdale also lives a life gull og Hypocrisy with his guilt and shame slowly eating away at himself from the inside. Through the use of Reverend Dimmesdale, and his sins, Hawthorne derives the truth that living a life of hypocrisy and self denial is much worse than just being honest to yourself and others. He conveys that once you are set into denial and hypocrisy, it's becomes impossible to go back, which therefore makes it
Displaying self harm is the men’s way to prove their toughness, another aspect society portrays men to be. In the beginning of Notes From the Underground, the Underground Man is afraid he is severely sick, but does nothing about it. Instead, he complains and ignores his sickness. “However, I know nothing at all about my disease. and do not know for certain what ails me.
Air pollutions is a major problem across the united states and around the world. It is also probably the most serious environmental problems today. The term air pollution is just kind of tossed around and not taken as serious anymore although its effects are becoming greater. Air Pollution is toxic chemicals in the air, that can also be compounds and they are extreme enough to cause health risks. (Frank) This is damaging the ozone layer and creating global warming.
Comprising over seventy percent of the Earth's surface, water is undeniably the most valuable natural resource. Life on Earth would be non-existent without water because it is essential for everything on our planet to grow. The human body is composed of 50-80% water. Blood and muscles contain significant amounts, and approximately 95% of the brain is water. All body systems and organs need water to function properly, and will shut down without it. Most of the chemical reactions that take place in our body need water as their medium. We can live without food for a few weeks, but can survive only a few days without water. It's essential because unlike other nutrients, water isn't stored in the body. Typically, everyday, we lose around 10
Water pollution impacts how humans and other living organisms live their life. Most common way humans are effected by water pollution is through diseases while drinking the water. Scientists have found over “five hundred different types of diseases” that can affect humans. (Book). These diseases get into the water streams by human and animal wastes. The diseases in the water can often lead to death for humans. Recent research has shown that that each year
Your day has been great so far. You went on vacation, you found a dollar bill on the floor, you ate your favorite dish, nothing can be better than this. As soon as you walk on the boardwalk you are hoping to see big waves and fish in the sea, instead, you see dead fish and some animals floating in the water next to old car tires, trash, and fertilizer. Now you feel terrible and want to go home. Pollution is devastating. The reason why I researched this topic is that I do not want my family nor my planet to get sick. Pollution can be stopped very easily, it’s just that people “don’t know” how to stop or they just don’t care, which is a serious problem. I want people to see that pollution is mainly caused by humans, and also for them to see that it is a horrible thing that is happening. Some kids litter because they see their parents and their whole family doing it. When I was researching this topic, I noticed that I needed to find out more information, so I asked questions to myself. When did pollution get so bad? How many animals have gone extinct because of pollution? How many people die each year because of pollution? How much does everyone on the planet pollute each year? What is the best way to stop pollution? Can just one person make a difference? After a lot of research, I found out lots of ways that we can stop pollution, so it is possible to end it. Or at least improve the air.
Water is considered as an essential for human existence. We all can survive without food for some day but no one can live without water at least two days. Human body consists of 70% percent of water and our globe is covered by 69.9% percent of water. But unfortunately the useable fresh water is just 2.5% out of it. Water is a social good, water is an economic good, water has ecological value and water has religious, moral and cultural value.
Pollution has become a prevalent issue worldwide and has begun to affect the air used to breathe, the soil used to grow food, and the water used to drink. All of these effects result in commonly occurring destruction of health and wildlife that one may have seen on the news or heard from peers. In order to live, one needs food, water, clothing, and shelter. If the water and food that society consumes gets contaminated, a major component of life has been eradicated, which can only have negative consequences. If more people are educated as to what effects the environment, the world has a chance to counteract the effects of pollution. The main causes of pollution are the burning of fossil fuels such as with car exhausts, littering as a result of societal norms and laziness, and factory waste as a result of lax waste regulation, and can result in mass destruction of the environment and catastrophic effects on the everyday lives of contemporary people.
In the recent discussion of environmental issues, pollution on Earth was mentioned. The act of pollution, has existed since the first colonization and will continue as long as life expands. Mankind has affected Earth in both a positive and negative way, but pollution is the largest issue concerning human survival. Other people would believe pollution is part of human nature, and has no resolution. Some items that are littered can actually help the Earth, such as objects in compost: vegetables, paper, and coffee grounds. The food is grown, consumed, and placed back into the Earth to help other produce grow. In the world 's current situation, pollution isn 't the highest priority nor does it need to be. It can be concluded that while this is true, everything has a price. In respect to Newton 's Third law, "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction". Though this law was intended for physics, it still applies to the rest of the world. Pollution can lead to damaged communities/ecosystems and ruin the air we breath. Nevertheless, pollution is an issue, and though there are instances it helps the environment, due to the amount of damage caused the Earth is suffering.
Water is found all around you. It 's in lakes, river, streams, oceans and even in canals. Water makes up 70% of the world. 2% of it is frozen at the poles in glaciers. Although it 's most of the world, not all of the water is drinkable. Roughly 3% of earth 's water is fresh water and drinkable. Through scientific research, a person can only go two days without drinking or consuming any water before they die. Water also keeps kidneys functioning and working properly.
Pollution is the introduction of harmful substances or products into the environment. It is a major problem in America and as well as the world. Pollution not only damages the environment, but damages us also. It has cause many problems ranging from lung cancer to the greenhouse effect. It is all among us but we continue to live in our own filth. What is the reason behind this flawed logic? In this paper I will examine the problems and solutions for this issue.
