The meaning of life is something that is wondered by many people. Life has many meanings and depending who one asks they could get any number which could be true. Life is what one does for others while they are alive, as well as what one does for oneself. Life is also the legacy one leaves behind. Without these things a life means almost nothing. A life is the some of what was accomplished both negatively and positively by the person who lived it and is defined by that person
An example of this when you read The Ocean at the End of the Lane. The narrator’s life is notable and worth talking about because the man is recounting events which impacted himself and other people, as well as sharing the beginning of his legacy which although not fully positive is part of his life and him. Another major example of life in this book is Lettie Hempstock. She may not be fully human but she still has a life. Lettie does so much for other people in this book. Most directly she saves the narrator’s life, but she also saves the lives of everyone on earth because the flea she expelled wanted to take over the world as indicated by her dialog. She leaves a legacy as well. Hers is

There are those that dedicate their lives to do service work to help others. These people have made their lives into lives of service. They have defined themselves mainly as people who work for the greater good of people in the world. There are also people who dedicate their lives to living for themselves and making themselves as happy and comfortable regardless of what other people need or are doing. These represent to stark opposites and there are lives at every point between these and also some that are probably beyond these that I cannot begin to even grasp. There are people who work to make themselves comfortable but also help other people, for example, children. They can provide for their children by working hard to first support
Reflecting back on my experiences I feel that I finally have an answer to my original question of what is service. Service is a selfless act, but in a greater sense it is self fulfilling. We all approach service with the sense that we are actually helping those in need, but through our actions we help ourselves by feeling the joy to those we bring around
The novel The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman was an engrossing sci-fi novel. The story, largely told through flashbacks into the main characters past, were set when he was in his early childhood, specifically at age seven when he met a strange girl named Lettie Hempstock. His flashbacks are of when he met Lettie, their friendship and when everything went awry on their lane.
Life is not something that can be defined by any single person. Everyone sees life as having a different purpose.

The start of The Ocean at the End of the Lane began with an older man about the age of forty he returned home to his homeland in Sussex, England for a funeral. He then decided that he would revise the location of the house he once lived in. He then remembers that there was a young girl, about the same age as his sister, named Lettie Hempstock. He also remembers the fact that Lettie would always tell him about the pond behind the house being an ocean and not a pond. With Lettie on his mind and him being in town for the funeral he decided that he would go and visit where Lettie grew up. She was a young girl at the time so she lived with her mother and her grandmother. As this man approaches the house, Lettie is no longer there but a family

But, as philosopher Tom Nagel has argued, this is not the sense of “the meaning of life” people are usually interested in. Suppose an alien species created human life in order to provide them with a future food supply. Then the purpose of human life is to be food for aliens. That would be the meaning of life, if we take
Some may say that it is possible to just "live life", and to never worry of the stumble or strife involved with finding your true meaning. But that in itself is finding meaning for living; to live life at it's fullest. Also, it is even quite possible to search for the deeper meaning while just living for today, because today is the best place to find that very meaning.
Service is something that every person does in their life. I try to do as much service as I can, which means a lot of my service is in the summer or while school in on breaks. While service can be done through organizations and for well-known causes, service is also seen in everyday life. Service can be through small acts of kindness, such as, holding open the door, helping someone who’s carrying a particularly heavy load, or simply just being there when they need a shoulder to lean on. Service is about making someone day brighten with little rays of kindness and to show that someone out there definitely cares for them.
The meaning of life is to find the meaning of life. Is it not? We all go through each day trying to figure out which road out the infinite amount of paths will lead us in a better direction where happiness is prominent and society is flawless. However, not every single human being is going to fit on that narrow, one-lane highway to success. Bad choices, accidents, fate, family matters, society, temptation, anger, rage, addiction, and loss of hope can all be deciding factors in opting to choose that wrong path to self-destruction. The adverse thing is, once you've traveled so far down the road, you get so discouraged that you feel like you can never turn back or make up for the "lost time."
What is the meaning of life? According to Chris McCandless living free and not conforming to the natural way of life is the meaning to life, as shown in the book Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. Similar to Chris McCandless, Ralph Emerson believes that following your dreams and making your own trail is the meaning of life according to his short story “Self-Reliance” by Ralph Emerson. The purpose of man's existence is to avoid conformity and following one's own instincts and ideas.
meaning of life may be to have important relationships with people, as well as be able to connect
What is this mysterious thing call life? Everyone has a different meaning about what life is. For me life is a beautiful, challenging and a very mysterious things giving to us by three people who really loves us. Although they might have a different way of conveying their love. God who loves us blessed our parents with a child and that child grew up to be us. I know you are saying right now to yourself “if God really loves us, but why people are we suffering” if we’re looking very closely, all this struggle is all part of what is the “Meaningful Life”.
My few years on this planet have been a bit confusing. I have learned of many aspects of life from which one can draw meaning, if indeed such meaning can be drawn. I have also learned that there can be no singular meaning of life to stand for us all, or even any one of us. What I have learned above all is that trying to put words to the meaning of life is a task of absolute absurdity. This is not to be confused with the idea that life has no meaning, for life certainly has meaning. However, there is no single meaning of life to be defined - life is different for us all. Therefore, rather than define life for an entire planet, I shall try to explain what life means as I perceive it, and why it means so.
The purpose of life is to make an impact on others in a positive way and make this world a better place to live in. My purpose in life is to be successful and help people in need, live more fulfilling lives through psychoeducation/therapy. I can give my knowledge to help others succeed when life feels impossible. I do many tasks such as being empathic, understanding, problem-solve, and help others thrive.
