Since the Ocean is the largest biome in the world, the climate is from -40 degrees fahrenheit to more than 100 degrees. The average temperature is 39 degrees fahrenheit, but it is much warmer near the Equator where the sun rays can hit the ocean and make it warmer. The coldest is in the North and the South Poles where the water is close to freezing, also known as glaciers, because sunlight isn’t directly hitting it with it’s sun rays. The ocean can also be harsh, because of ocean currents. The ocean currents create big hurricanes and typhoons. Although the climate can ve extreme it has little effect on life. There are 5 main types of oceans: the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic, and the Southern ocean. The Pacific ocean separate Asia from the Americas. The Pacific is the biggest ocean on Earth. The Atlantic separate India from Africa. The Indian Ocean is the second largest ocean on Earth. The Arctic borders the northern continents and enclose the far North including the North pole. The Arctic is the smallest ocean in the world. The Southern ocean extends from the coast of Antarctica, and is declared a fifth world ocean.

There are thousands and thousands of animals that live in the ocean. Some of them have gills to help them breathe in the ocean, others, like mammals, have to go to the surface and breathe the air. For example, fish and sharks have gills, and whales and dolphins have holes called a blowhole to breathe the air. Here are some sea creatures that live in the ocean:
Fish - Sharks, swordfish, tuna, clown fish, stingray, flatfish, eels, seahorse, etc.
Marine Mammals: Blue whales, Seals, walrus, dolphins, manatees, otters, etc.
Mollusks: Octopus, clams, squids, oysters, snails,
