The Positive And Negative Impacts Of Hinduism And Buddhism

Hinduism and Buddhism are both very large religions with both positive and negative effects from their philosophies. There are around 1 billion hindus and 376 million people living their life as buddhists. Hinduism is a polytheistic religion, meaning worshipping many deities, and is regarded as the oldest religion. Buddhism is not of the same age as Hinduism but is yet not much younger. Even though it is a debateable topic whether Buddhism is a philosophy or a religion I will refer to it as a religion. Buddhism believes in reaching true happiness, Nirvana, which will end your reincarnation circle, which also exists in Hinduism, and will make you into a spiritual being. There is no religion that is better than the other, rather there are aspects of religions proving either positive or negative sides of them. Buddhism places a lot of emphasis on the psychology of happiness. Culture, especially in the western world, deems complaints and negative comments as a daily social interaction. Karma is no longer a second thought of the consequences of an action you’re about to commit but rather an excuse of your inabilities in your present life. Dale Debakcsy was a teacher for nine years at a Buddhist School and he witnessed something that supports this statement. One of his students had difficulty memorizing information for tests and so the student went to the monks of the school. The monks had supposedly explained to her that she had such troubles in this present life because in her past life she was a murderous dictator who burned books. According to Dale Debakcsy the student was devastated because she earnestly believed that the monks had an inner knowledge of the karmic cycle.
