Group projects can go one of two ways: you end up becoming close with your members as you power through the assignment or you end up feeling an enormous amount of contempt towards them that sprouts from their apparent incompetence. I’m very glad to say that I enjoyed working with my group members. They weren’t incompetent at all and were actual really nice to do this assignment with. Our presentation started off by giving a brief history on the Pro-Life movement and its beginnings. This section helped to create a foundation for what we talked about. It was helpful to discuss how far the movement has come. It was also important to share what began the initial push. This was helpful for our group experience because we needed to talk about where
Overall, this group project went very well and was completed on time due to the fact there everyone including myself assigned ourselves with a task role, relational role and from the start had individual roles present such as leader, compromiser, and gatekeepers in the group that made it
Out of all modern social controversies, perhaps the most heated controversy is that of abortion. In today’s society you are either a Pro-life or a Pro-choice, there is not a middle ground. Pro-life are individuals who believe abortion is immoral and should be stop for the wellbeing of women and unborn babies. In contrast, the Pro-choice individuals do not necessarily promote abortion, they just believe women should be the ones to make decisions over their bodies and health. Although the two main sides of the abortion debate have concerns for human life, pro-life activists worries more about the fetus and morals, a clear difference from the pro-choice that worries more for the women and their rights. Based on the points I explored, the pro-choice arguments are stronger than pro-life arguments. Most of both groups arguments comes from peer-reviewed researches from well-known sources to support each individual concept. Effects on women,socio-politics, and fetus are some of the main point of conflicts between the pro-life and pro-choice advocates.
This project in general was kind of fun. It’s better than some of the past assignments we've had. So it might be interesting if we had future assignments similar to this, because it involves a group & I like group work, because it gets done faster. My group was fair and on task. All of us did what we had to do, because we all care about grade. Since we all care about grade a lot, we completely focused on the assignment. No one was ever off task, and that was good, because we needed to get this assignment done. Another good things is, we never argued. I’m glad this happened, because if it did we would have never finished and that would have been bad. Throughout the whole assignment my group and I had perfect communication skills with one another
Abortion has been a highly debated topic in the United States for many years. Contrary to the belief of some people, life begins at conception when a sperm fertilizes an egg according to Princeton University’s Margerie England. If life begins at conception, abortion should be considered murder. How can society permit the taking of a precious human life without consequences? An astonishing 1.06 million babies were killed in the United States alone in 2011. This major issue must be talked about no matter how uncomfortable it may be. Nearly every American will be affected, almost always negatively, by abortion sometime in their life. Abortion should be illegal and the Roe v. Wade court case should be overturned.
For many years, abortion has been vexed issue in the United States that conjures strong emotions on both sides. It is a moral issue that tears some people into two groups Pro-life and Pro-choice. Those who are Pro-life state that no matter what the reason behind it, such violent action is murder and should not be executed. On the other hand, the Pro-choice advocates are more respectful of women's rights to take such action; they believe it is their own personal decision since they are the ones who are going to take care of the child, not the law or morality. Despite society's evolving moral standards, the controversy surrounding abortion and women’s' rights still divides our nation. So why did I visit a Planned Parenthood for the first time in my life? Because I was confused as to what is the real face of the people gathered outside the abortion clinic was.
Kaveny Cathleen informs us on what the pro-life activist stance is all about in the article “Vigilante injustice: the right to life & the rule of law”. In this article, she comes to inform us by telling the story of an extremist pro-life activist Robert Lewis Dear. His actions against abortion providers have affected the views of the public. Those actions have also affected multiple other pro-life activists in the pro-life movement. She openly states that with the outcome of these events, “it became increasingly clear that opposition to abortion was his motivation, which put many pro-life activists on the defensive”.
Although, I hate group projects and my group members are procrastinators we were able to pull it all together
In this group project, I had a major role in ensuring that it came together in a unified way. Generally, I usually take a leadership role in group projects so I was the central person coordinating group meetings and ensuring sufficient communication. To begin the project, we divided up the work by assigning people to work on the case study, find literature, summarize the textbook, and talk to key informants. My assigned part was to summarize the textbook, which also ended up lending itself to finding some additional sources to build on what the textbook was lacking. In regard to the group literature and informant summary, I ended up writing most
Abortion is a unique social problem in America due to its controversy. Initially, the feminist movement was very popular and due to the shock value was constantly featured in the media which incited public reaction. Eventually, The Supreme Court ruled in favor of women’s rights to have access to abortions in Roe vs Wade causing major policy change in America. The social problems workers such as Planned Parenthood doctors and nurses helped to implement the new policy. The Pro-Life movement reviewed the policy outcome and the work of the social problems workers and deemed the abortion laws a social problem. Through a series of claims, grounds, and warrants The Pro-Life movement activists have been attempting to change the abortion laws
My initial response to our group project is that I thought we did well, especially given the fact that all four of us are very different people. Not only did we have very diverse interests and ideas, but we also had a slight language barrier in our group. I ultimately do not believe that this caused any harm to our group. The hardest part of the project may have been choosing a topic. Initially our choice was to do a response to the Koran. Although I would have enjoyed something that is intellectually stimulating and will continue to be debated, especially recently in the media, it was important that I took that off the table and suggested Cars instead.
In the past, I have not had good experiences within group projects, so before going to class I thought that this would be the exact same. Usually, groups during meetings are completely off topic and procrastinate on the work that needs to be done. I have found that this leads to most of the group doing the work a day before the project is due. I had the expectation that this would only happen again. For the MGT 200 service based learning project I also had very different expectations. Before we found our service learning organization, I thought that we would mostly be told about what needed to be done by the team. Additionally, I presumed that we would have to constantly meet face to face with the organization to fulfill their expectations. I also knew coming into this class that the project would involve a lot of work, which I do
I never have been great in group project because coordinating everything we all have to do is difficult. Simply finding a meeting time that everyone can attend is difficult and finding time for everyone to sit down and work can be a challenge. Everyone’s schedule is different, and each person has other responsibilities, so adding another task can be a problem. One person may have an exam due on that day, another person may have to work, and someone else may just have to take care of family business. My group name is Smooth Criminal, and the members of my group are Christ Basttista, Meagan Martinez, Karissa Helmberger, and Noah Adams. I met with my group two times, but it was very handsome. We were there all of us and supporting each other on what we were doing, and we were very happy to work as a team group.
The concept of group projects has always scared me, the relying on a partner to respond on time and get the work done is something that takes more trust than I can even begin to explain. I have worked with many people since I started school, I have had good experiences and bad experiences but none quite like this. The partner I got for lesson two in psychology was Brooke Blizzard and she helped change the was I viewed group projects. Brooke Blizzard took her time responding to every single message I sent, but when she did finally respond, she made sure it was exactly what I needed and in as much detail as she could provide over text message. She was reliable when I was worried about her dropping the ball on this lesson and proved to me just
At first working with a group of four proved to be a bit difficult. It was tricky to find something that we all had in common we had four totally different people. Two of them coming from the other side of the globe. Devantchi had just arrived two weeks earlier when I met her. Tony left his home in China at the age of 15 to attended school. Ky has been the glue in our group. She has been at Greenriver now for almost two years. It was nice to have someone who knew what to do and expect. This group project ended up being a great way to meet other members of the class and when we met up to work on our project we got to know each other. Since this is my first quarter the other members of my group were completely invaluable. They showed
Being involved in a group project was a challenge for me, due to the fact that we had some communication problems between our group members in the beginning. First of all, we started with a brainstorming, analysing the opportunities of companies around Hendon Central. More than this, we agreed on the same firm and started our work. Within a teamwork, there are some challenges that occur such as remaining focused on a direction, splitting equally the work and choosing a good leader. Bearing all this in mind, I might say that we did our best during the presentation and we coped with the minor communication issues. From this experience, I realized that I am a good leader and I can manage efficiently a project.
