“How can the “Dream” survive if we murder children? Every aborted baby is like a slave in the womb of his or her mother. The mother decides his or her fate” (Martin Luther King, Jr). This quote, by Martin Luther King Jr, represents how Martin Luther King Jr really feels about abortions, and how abortions relate back to the idea of slavery. As abortions are spreading all across the world many people have wondered if there are any positives to abortions? If there are not any positives to abortion then people may wonder, what are the negatives to abortions, and how do other people feel about abortions.
Many people have different thoughts on how abortions could be positive. Some abortions save innocent kids from having a horrible life. Most abortions are teens who were just wanting to have some fun, but not wanting a baby (American Medical News p. 14). Many of the teens that become pregnant do not have enough money to care for a child, or they might not be in the most stable of situations. Many of the expecting teen families need financial help from their parents (American Medical News p. 14). Many expecting teens ask their parents for financial help to buy clothes, diapers, wipes, formula, and baby furniture. The overall necessities for a child. All abortions must be done by a licensed physician. When physicians perform an abortion, they must wait until after the gestational period (“Abortions”). “Many physicians prohibit public funds, private insurance agency funds,
There are two main political parties you can choose from in the United States, The Democrats and the Republicans. There are also third parties you can choose from. People can choose to be part of any party. We are divided by the left and right side on the political spectrum. The right are more conservative and the left are more liberal. These two political parties show philosophical differences through their viewpoints on major topics. With so many differences between the parties, finding topics or issues upon which constituents agree on can be difficult.
Abortion is a subject that numerous people have strong opinions about; some believe that it is a form of murder and should be banned, yet others believe that the decision should be for the woman herself to make. In my eyes, the choice to abort or not abort is the woman’s, not the public’s. However, many men disagree with pro-choice.
Abortion is a very controversial topic in today’s society. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks (Abortion). Many people have issues regarding this topic, while some support the idea. This paper will be covering the pros and cons, people’s attitudes, and how a researcher could possible change your perspective on the topic at hand.
I hold the belief that a woman should have the right to have an abortion if that is what she would like. This means I identify as a pro-choice supporter. If the government ever decide to illegalize abortion, it would mean that women do not 'own' their body and instead the lawmakers do. As soon as a third party, such as lawmakers, are given the power to decide that abortions are wrong and they decide to ban abortions, women are no longer in control of their own bodies which makes them powerless.
Abortion can offer a solution to unplanned pregnancy and may allow women to postpone pregnancy until they are adequately prepared to raise children, elevating the standard of living for newly born babies. “Fertilization is by no means perfect method, but therapeutic contraception and abortion complement natural processes that are designed to help us survive and thrive” (Tarico, 1). Contraceptives, such as the birth control pill, sometimes fail. To counter this, many new contraceptive procedures such as implants offer better protection and allow pregnancies to be an expected and planned occurrence. People often make mistakes when they are young, such as having unprotected sex. Abortion can provide an opportunity rebuild their lives and give them a second chance. Society’s attitudes towards conception and bearing of children change and evolve, and it is important to be compassionate, and understanding to the mother and the unborn fetus. Being pro-choice allows us to “stack the odds in the child’s favor” and give children the best chance of living a happy, healthy life (Tarico,
Abortion is one of the most controversial topics and many argue that it's wrong, but I disagree, I am a strong supporter of abortions. An abortion is when a woman deliberately terminates a pregnancy, there are many medical methods used to perform an abortion. The techniques used for abortion have changed drastically over time and many cultures developed their own forms of abortions. Originally abortions were unregulated and many women performed abortions on themselves at home, which were very unsafe and many at home abortions resulted in injury or death. The two main methods of abortion as of right now are surgical and medical abortion, these are much safer than previous methods and rarely inflict any harm onto the woman. The surgical method is performed using a vacuum like device to empty the uterus of its content. The medical abortion can only be used early in a pregnancy and requires a woman to take a prescribed pill for the first seven weeks of her pregnancy.
“One in three U.S. women will have an abortion in her lifetime. In America two percent of women between 15-44 will get an abortion each year.”(Sharples) Abortion is the act of stopping a pregnancy intentionally, so that the child is not born. Abortion is controversial due to it being a morally and ethically gray area. The most important question is whether or not abortion is morally wrong. If morality wasn’t enough, we then have to ask ethical questions. There are two main groups in this debate: pro-life and pro-choice Pro-life believes that intentional abortion is wrong, while the pro-choice side believes that intentional abortion is acceptable in some circumstances. Due to this controversy abortion has become a popular topic in the debates of the masses.
Of course when making any decision it is important to critically think out the whole situation. It is very important to not make irrational decisions. In order to help make the best decision the pros and cons should be taken into consideration. The pros of having an abortion could be but not limited to, being unable to financially afford a child. There may be health risk for the woman so an abortion may save a life. The pregnancy may have been a result of violent crime or assault. “The 'Hyde Amendment' refers to an amendment first offered by Rep. Henry J. Hyde in 1976 to the Departments of Labor and Health, Education, and Welfare, Appropriation Act, 1977. The amendment restricted the use of appropriated funds to pay
Reproductive rights are a very critical and controversial issue in today’s world. What a woman does for her body would appear to ultimately be her own decision and a very private mater but this is not always the case. As women, it is important to remember that the reproductive rights we now have can be easily taken away. Some people take for granted the openness to birth control, condoms, and abortion. President Bush has initiated policies since coming into office that threaten women’s choices.
Have you ever wondered why abortion is such a debated topic. How some politicians use it as a political ploy and others are completely against abortion? Also, if the supreme court says abortion is legal, why have many states added so many restrictions and rules to it. If abortion is legal, why does the government try so hard to make women feel like it isn’t. When did it become ok for the government tell women what and what not to do with our bodies and made our decisions for us? These new abortion restrictions makes it even harder for women to have an abortions, then it already is.
There are two arguments regarding the ethical issue of abortion, pro-choice and pro-life. The pro-life position believes the sanctity of human life begins at the point of conception and therefore abortion is akin to murder. This is due to the fact that society does not allow one human to intentionally harm or take the life of another even an unborn child. Furthermore, there are negative consequences as a result of an abortion, as medical complications can occur later in life, as well as intense psychological pain and stress. Statistics show that abortion is a choice made mostly by young women whom many are minors, with insufficient life experience to understand the consequences of their actions. A viable replacement to abortion is adoption,
In the 45th Federalist Papers, James Madison wrote, “the powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the state governments are numerous and indefinite.” In 1973, the Roe v. Wade ruling legalized abortion based on the constitutional right to privacy. This ruling declared abortion a right protected by the federal government as dictated by the Supremacy clause in Article VI of the United States Constitution. The Supreme Court's assertion of unlimited access to abortion as a federal concern violates states’ rights as it was wrongfully justified. Evidence offered by the fourteenth amendment, various court cases pertaining to abortion, and several philosophical arguments from renowned professors support the shift of the decision from federal to state power. Medical necessity is the only exception in which an individual should be granted unrestricted access to abortion.
Secondly, abortion does not just end the life of the baby these women are carrying in their womb, it also affects the women both physically and psychologically. Women that have had abortions have higher possibilities of getting cervical cancer than women that have never had an abortion. It has been shown that women that have had abortion experience guilt that leads them to depression or even more severe mental illnesses. The guilt these women experience after they have had an abortion has led many women to commit suicide or lead them to a life of despair that will not allow them to be happy with future kids. Knowing the choice, they made was not correct there is always a right way, if they could not take care of the baby there’s adoption
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. The definition of abortion is “the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth.” Many individuals view it as immoral and even consider it to be murder, while others believe in the idea that the woman has the right to choose what she wants to do with the fetus. The debate on the topic of abortion has been cast in terms of pro-life and pro-choice views, but it is clearly a much more complex issue.
Abortion is and always has been a very controversial debate for those who identify as pro-life or pro-choice. According to Katie Yoder, author of “National Right to Life News,” “From 2015 to 2016, Planned Parenthood performed 328,348 abortions. To put that in perspective, that's 4,349 more abortions than the year before the previous year” (Yoder). Abortion is wrong and people should outlaw these procedures because they cause immense pain to the fetuses, can lead to greater health risk for women and there is an always the choice of adoption.
