Gun Control has been a hotly debated issue for many years. In modern American politics gun control is debated between the left, who seeks to increase gun control laws, and the right, who seek to protect gun ownership. Gun Control should not be enacted because Gun Control Laws have been proven ineffective, The Second Amendment allows American Citizens the right to keep and bear arms, and Gun Control laws take power from American Citizens.

The issue of gun control is almost as old as the gun itself. There have been many well constructed arguments both for and against guns but the smart one do not always have the loudest voice, in fact I would argue that the loudest people lack the knowledge about firearms. Unfortunately this is true for most topics that are circling today 's media. I often see an anti-gun person lose an argument about guns simply because they do not know what they are talking about. Gun control is a very big issue in the United States today. Many people don't agree with the gun control laws that they have today. Gun control laws only take guns away from law-abiding citizens. Many people have their own reasons for owning a gun. Why would the government want to make it harder for people to own a gun? People that own guns are not very likely to be attacked by criminals. Owning a handgun is one of the best ways of protection. The second amendment states "the right to bear arms" does this grant everyone a right to own a gun? Gun control laws have not been proven to do anything for citizens. Gun control laws just make it harder for a good guy to own a gun. Gun control laws are not a good idea.

As a result of the Las Vegas Massacre, people are demanding political action to be taken. Mass shootings have been almost too regularly occurring in the past ten years. In fact, just in our current year, “there have been two hundred and seventy three mass shootings in the United States” (Fox 1). This number averages to seven and a half mass shootings per week! These staggering numbers are pressing a very real issue to our leader on gun control laws. A mass shooting has no true definition but follows a strict criteria.According to the Gun Violence Archive, which receives data from shooting incidents, a "mass shooting" is any incident in which a gunman kills four or more people, selects victims randomly, and attacks in a public place (Fox 1). It is necessary for action to be taken in order to decline the occurrence of gun violence. The topic of gun control has sparked great controversy amongst Americans. Protests regarding this issue has led me to research gun control to see how heavily it corresponds with mass shootings. Are more strict gun control laws essential to low gun- related crimes in the United States?

The argument of gun control has become a debate of society. There is a lot of emotional rhetoric behind this debate. Gun control will not work as statistics, history (with other foreign countries), and common sense have shown. Gun laws will not significantly modify the already false accusations made against guns and gun violence.

Americans have argued over whether or not we should have gun control for a multitude of years. Some believe it should be stricter than it is now, while others believe it should be less strict than it is currently. There’s even those whom want to completely get rid of gun control, and those whom otherwise want to completely want to get rid of guns. To me the answer is crystal clear. Creating more gun laws does nothing but restrict the citizens whom abide by the law from having guns, not the people whom are actually looking to do harm with them.

Although it is stated in the Constitution, people of today's era are taking these rights completely out of context. A lot of Americans are misusing these firearms, which is sadly, leading to disastrous events such as school shootings.

Gun Control is a heavily debated topic especially after Donald Trump was elected president. It is often looked at in a very black and white way but that is far from how it should be looked at, it's not just banned or be completely free, there are many different policies that can get put in place to limit firearm usage. Often times when debating about gun control people point out statistics on murder rates and yes, the murder rate in America is really high but if you compare that to a number of people that die from car crashes, drowning, medical mistakes, animal attacks, work accidents it doesn't seem anywhere near as drastic. I believe that guns are not the problem America faces, it's the fatality rate of some of these ways to die that is ridiculous.

Both sides of this debate have very logical arguments for increasing gun control or lessening gun control. These arguments tend to spike shortly after active shooter events, eventually having some type of legislature passed to prevent these atrocious acts from happening. But ultimately active shooter events continue to plague the United States, and much of the world.

Correspondingly banning guns would in fact reduce the amount of guns in public hands, but it would increase the crime rates. Imagine a situation for a moment. The government outright bans guns and what happens then? Who would there be to actually enforce this ban? Would the police go door to door asking for your guns? Would they have an all out gun war? Or would they even attempt to take the guns from the people? Would it be worth risking their lives? Now imagine that they do manage to get guns from anyone willing to turn them over. What would stop criminals from still having these weapons? Do you believe that fear of the police alone would be enough to stop criminals. Would it be enough to stop these people from robbing every place in sight knowing that they will face little resistance? These are some of the most important questions to ask before even thinking about banning guns. They clearly all lead to a clear answer that if guns ever were banned that it would only bring upon civil war and higher crime rates. According to Pat Roberts a writer for Huffington Post and Forbes, “Banning guns for civilians would have very little if any net effect on murder and suicide rates”. The main reasons that he gives for this is something called supplication. If guns were to go away another way of murder and suicide would just take its place.

Gun control is one of the most divisive issues in politics. Recently, more mass shootings are correlated with an increase in antagonism on both sides of the debate. Proponents of stricter control fear for their safety while opponents fear for the loss of safety with the possibility of less guns. However ideal it may be to pass legislation that completely ban the ownership of firearms in this country, it is unreasonable to attempt to do that. The best method of placing restrictions on gun ownership without completely banning it is to increase the efficiency of universal background checks on all transactions, both from federally licensed and private dealers.

The debate of gun control in America has been argued over dating back to even before the American Revolution. It is such a dominant political topic that it is a key component to presidential races. Gun Control is the debate on whether of not there should be guns, no guns, or guns with types of regulations. Although the right to bear arms is granted in the people of the United States of America’s Constitution, there is still much debate about the issue.

Every day in the USA, people wake up to news of a shooting, and sadly often than not, people wake up to news of a mass shooting. After the tragedy people across all around the USA call for stricter gun control and at times for an outright total gun ban. Guns are not the cause of all this violence, rather people are the cause. Americans need to understand the real cause and have some common sense about this issue.
