Black people in America are being beaten up, shot, and murdered daily; and it’s all at the expense of the color of their own skin. The barbaric thing being that these violent acts of crimes are not being committed by some criminal or terrorists. It’s by police themselves. We are beginning to live in a world where it has become a social norm where police are perceived as a threat instead of peacekeepers. In fact, many would say we have taken several steps back as a society instead and we are beginning to repeat history itself in the terms of unequal treatment of minorities. Racial profiling is a violation of human rights that has led to the onset of police brutality and excessive forces towards minorities and needs to be addressed.
When we were children we were taught not to judge a book by its cover although it has proven to be a lot easier said than done. Racial profiling has become a huge issue and controversial topic in our society today. It affects millions of people in the Unites States alone. Innocent people of all ages and genders are being targeted solely by the color of their skin. Black people were killed by police at more than twice the rate of white people in both 2015 and 2016 (Swaine and McCarthy). We are all human beings and deserve to be treated fairly and with kindness unless given a reason otherwise.
