The morals and values this country hold were once founded on the Christian life of those who also founded this country. Those teachings shaped this country into what it is today, yet people, either try and force a different belief on you or want to take all beliefs out completely. America is evidently trying to suppress religion as a whole. However, we should continue to stick to the religious values and morals this country was founded on. Throughout history we see that the world has always tried to force its beliefs on different ethnicities. Christianity has always been the number religion, in the country, and past authorities have made it clear that it is the "only religion worth pursuing". Christianity is the number one persecuted religion in our country and others. Many people believe that Christianity is the one religion that people should practice. I believe that who are we to take someone from the sanctuary of their own religious background. Even though I believe that Jesus is Lord, it is not my duty in life to force anyone into believing that, as well. Even though while at the same exact time, I feel as though religious values and morals should be a huge part of the lives of, this country’s government authorities.
After research, I believe religion should not be disgusted amongst students and their teachers, but she play a huge role in the strategies of our judicial system. This paper will show the effects of being taught religious values in schools and leading by
The problems Americans face living in America appear to be moral problems. These problems cannot be solved through the government, but through a moral system to address these problems and work towards fixing them. The Ten Commandments are educational and moral and would teach Although the Ten Commandments are not some “magic words”, they are phrases and rules that were set by God that he wants everyone to follow by. For people that are not Christians or Jews, principles or commandments from other religions could also be posted to be fair to all religions. Buddhists would have the Eightfold Path, Islam's have the Five Pillars, Hinduism have the ten disciplines and five principles, and Sikhism has the tenets. This would not exclude other religions, but only include the top religions. Whether you are religious or not, these phrases can apply to everyone. Phrases like “honor your father and your mother”, “you shall not murder”, and “you shall not steal” can be valuable to everyone and what Americans will mostly live by (Exodus 20: 12-15 New International Version). Other commandments can include: “I am the Lord your God”, “You shall have no other gods before me”, and “remember the Sabbath and keep it holy”(Exodus 20: 1-8 New International Version). Those commandments are more religious but teach morality and right vs.
Ethics can be defined as ‘Human moral conduct according to principles of what is good or right to do’. In Christianity there are certain ethical teachings, mainly The Ten Commandments, Beatitudes, and Jesus’ commandments of love. The Ten Commandments are derived from the Old Testament which defines what people must do in order to serve God faithfully and gives direction on how to live a life according to the covenant and in essence to be a good Christian person. In the New Testament the Beatitudes and Jesus’ commandments of love are found. With love being the main concept of these teachings, they and the Ten Commandments can be seen as alike as they
In examining the relationship between religion and morality, there are many equally important topics that should be considered. One topic, nonetheless, that I think is essential in beginning to discuss the philosophy of morality in the context of religion is that which is concerned with whether religion has a significant role in the definition of morality. Religion does have a significant role in the defining and understanding of morality, and this is important for ethics. The aim of this paper is not to argue whether it is possible for one to be moral without being religious, for this I assume is more or less evidently possible, but rather whether a general concept of religion and God is needed in the proper interpretation of morality. I will refer to Plato’s Euthyphro and its focus on piety and the dilemma it generates, in guiding this discussion.
As a social work undergraduate, we have several queries regarding why it is so important to follow the NASW code of Ethics and values that relate to human diversity, with regard for the worth and dignity of all persons, as applied to a specific case where we are delivering social work. It is very essential to recognize the five core values of social work, service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, and integrity and competence on our occupation of social work. Today, we have chosen two areas and situations of how we are going to deal with our biases and our challenges while working as social workers, by employing the NASW code of Ethics and values that relate to human diversity, with regard for the worth and dignity of all persons.
This is a study about one’s ethical and moral behavior and Christian World View as related to personal and professional growth and development. This study examines my personal views of moral behavior and Christian World View as it relates to my expectation of what a manager in a leadership position should posses and why. Growing up in a African-American Baptist church and ultimately landing in a diverse Christian Church has shaped my life and viewpoint when it comes to values and beliefs. There are 5 characteristics that I believe a Manager should possess: Authenticity, transparency, empowering, trustworthy and competence. These five characteristics help to build rapport and trust in a manager, which are good qualities to possess when leading a team.
Business ethics and values have developed through time and crosswise over orders into a field, which is a standout amongst the most vital subjects in the field of business. For the authentic improvement of business morals, it is vital, to begin with, a meaning of business ethics and values in a worldwide setting (Savage, 2005). The study characterize business ethics and values from an administrative viewpoint as choices about what is correct or wrong (worthy or unsuitable) in the authoritative setting of arranging and actualizing business exercises in a worldwide business condition to profit (Child, 2015). The development
The United States is known for the land of opportunities and equality. We have been told that we are allowed to be religious just as long as we don't act on it. We have been tyrannize in our schools and at our places of employment with threats of being expelled , denied advancements, frivolous lawsuits and more. The current government is doing all it can to stop all conventional progress in favor of taking bribes from corporation to do what they want.
Ever since the early 17th century, the Jews in Philadelphia have been striving to become an important part of the American society, while staying true to their roots. Although the Jews faced exile from their homelands of Portugal and Spain, they were able to build and sustain a strong Jewish community within Philadelphia and pave the way for future generations through extensive actions throughout the community. They built hundreds of Jewish schools, Community Centres, synagogues and established many congregations. They became strongly involved in the American society and paved the way for many of America’s moral codes (Telushkin). There are currently 275, 850 Jews in Philadelphia, making it one of the strongest Jewish communities in the United States (Levine).
“Freedom of religion includes both the right to manifest beliefs and practices and the right to be free from state coercion or constraint in matters of religion ().” One of the most controversial places in which freedom of religion manifests itself is the public school. In order to protect freedom of religion, it is important to make sense of how a school must treat religion so the school does not compromise its role within society. This paper will establish current rulings on religion in public school and then explore what a religious accommodation is, why it may be necessary, and finally how it will take shape within the public school system by using a multitude of examples. This paper argues that religious accommodations for students in public schools are necessary to ensure freedom of religion. However, in order to guarantee that religious accommodation is enforceable and discernable, it argues for a two-pronged evaluation of each scenario in order to determine the viability of the proposed religious accommodation. Firstly, the accommodation must not infringe on the education of the other students not included in the accommodation by taking away their rights and the accommodation must not exempt a student from the education provided by the school. By applying this two-way evaluation system to given examples it will be concluded that religious freedom must absolutely be protected by way of certain religious accommodations provided that the school is
Moral and values is some of the things we learn as we grow up and these morals and values we learn from our parents and friends and also from our cultures and some of them you get to develop them as you grow up. The is so many ways to develop ones morals and values and cultural relativism and ethical subjectivism is of those ways that are used to develop morals and values.
America is a melting pot filled with ethnic groups and peoples from every corner of the globe, and I think that is one of the most special things about our country. All over the country, in every state, you can meet people from across the globe. Each of these cultures has influenced what America is, and what it is to be Americans. From its foundation, America was influenced by Rome. Where I live in Escondido, California, today,we are influenced heavily by European, Native American, and Hispanic cultures. Many of the schools in my area are bilingual schools, where both Spanish and English in school every day. Freedom of worship is a founding principle of our country, and because of this, the United States has incredible religious diversity. Though 83% of people identify as Christians, many other religions are represented, including Judaism, Islam, Hiduism, Buddhism, various animistic religions, and athesim. Each of these religious worldviews influences American lifeAmerica is diverse in many ways, from her people, to religions and culture, and I believe that we are a better nation because of
This week nine paper will discuss the values and ethics in the practicum agency and answer questions related to ethics. In addition, this paper will discuss ethical issues or dilemmas at the agency and how social workers address these issues. Furthermore, questions will be answered about how the NASW Code of Ethics influences decisions at the agency, how ethics violations are handled about staff and what ethical principles that I feel strongly about.
To answer this question, we must first understand what both ethics and morality are. As ethics is defined as the philosophical study of morality, those who study religion get their moral precepts from what they believe God says should be done. This perspective is not at all unexpected, because all religions apply a perspective on morality. Morality is defined as beliefs concerning right and wrong, good and bad- beliefs that can include judgements, values, rules, principles, and theories. Morals are what help us guide our actions, define our values, and give us reason for being the person that we are.
Some people believe our life is based off of morals, a belief of right/justification or wrong/ unjust. Living this way perceives their ways of the world by doing what they feel is good or bad or what is lead by their conscience regardless of religion. Others believe in religion, a feeling or act of faith, from God or “gods” ( Merriam-Webster). These acts motivated by faith and God/ “gods” provide a comprehension between choices, a choice given to all for all based off of a religious belief. In analyzing this presentation, it will show what the writer of this topic is trying to point out to the intended audience or its purpose, while conveying to the readers what morality and religion is.
One of the avenues of influential learning is in school. The place where students spend half of their life. Going to school aids students in acquiring knowledge, establishing rapport and developing skills. When students attend school, they showcase not only their characters traits and attitudes, but they also carry with them their cultural differences and religious practices. (Green & Oldendorf, 2005). Looking at how diverse our society is, the question of teaching religions and their ideologies at a school-level rise. Whilst the state practices neutrality towards religion, there are still issues and challenges when it comes to accommodating religious diversity and its integration in the education system (Berger, 2013, p.104). Therefore, integrating religion in the education system can lead to
