There are many reason home invasions occur and there are also several common motives that cause home invasion robberies. One of the most obvious motives of home invasion is, “steal valuable items, such as cash, drugs, or property, which can be sold for cash” (Heinonen & Eck,n.d). I believe the second motives could deal with retaliation it could be dealing with someone wrong doing a person or it could be also retaliation, “against a rival drug dealer, gang member, or domestic partner; robbery is part of the retaliation”( Heinonen & Eck,n.d.). The last motives are cold to me because it deals with sexual assault, which could cause robbery which was not intended but down to cover up the sexual assault. It is inevitable crime in America is at an all- time high and something needs to be done. I believe the main thing that can be done to decrease the crime levels in America would be to incorporate neighborhood watches. Within these neighborhood watches, meeting should be held at least two times a month with their surrounding neighborhood watch committees. At these local meetings the community should assign a few individuals to be the community patrol who work with their local police department. The committee should also help individuals with porch lights, making sure everyone has a well-lit home. Parole (early release from prison) is often referred to as the back door to the US corrections system. The concept of parole dates back to the establishment of the Elmira Reformatory. The goal of the Elmira Reformatory was to rehabilitate and reform the criminal instead of following the traditional method of silence, obedience, and labor. Parole was originally set up to encourage prisoners to do well, keep their noses clean, and become model prisoners.
