Because supernatural can cause fear to the people in the town, witchcraft or relationships with the devil can lead to being hanged. This town truly believes in magic and panics when they hear about it. Since the play The Crucible takes place in 1692, nobody knows better and it’s a time where everyone is super religious. So when someone betrays the church, everyone jumps in and don’t play around when it comes to that. But they’re still scared for their lives.
When someone walks into the woods and sees a group of females dancing naked around a fire, they go to town and spread the news of witchcraft. Interrogations are in the town every minute. Even people attempt to snitch on each other just to save their lives. Just like when Abigail snitched
Arthur Miller’s The Crucible is about the people of 17th century.Salem, Massachusetts situated in a dangerous and dynamic period. The Puritans of Salem joined the bandwagon of the witch hysteria that was first caused by girls falsely accusing others. The inhabitants of Salem feared for their lives as the people who were accused were subjected to death. However, the accused have a chance to save themselves by admitting to a crime they did not commit. Many took the opportunity for self-preservation because it is a human instinct of survival. However, there others who chose to uphold their ideals, name, and reputation. Self-preservation is the motivates the characters to behave and act when they are situated in a compromising situation about the involvement of witchcraft, but there are also times when it is abandoned.
The Crucible, based were religion was an important aspect of everyday life in their society. In the story The Crucible fear was uprising considering all the accusations of witchcraft. Not to mention the conflict between the salem family residence and anger towards each other.
Arne Duncan is the current Secretary of Education in Washington and was the biggest architect of the Renaissance 2010 movement within the Chicago Public Schools. He has been an effective leader for the charter school movement, or “turn around” schools as they begin to shape the education systems of underprivileged cities in the rest of the United States of America. There are many people who are in favor of the charter schools coming up through the education system, but there are others who are seeing the negative impact on their families and children. This renaissance is good for creating a better education for students, but the scale is heavily tipped to one side that is harming people who are/have been involved in Chicago Public Schools
(H)To be accused as a witch, was to be labeled for death by hanging, whether you are guilty or not. (Tr-TS)The label of witch or warlock what the townspeople use as a vessel to get their enemies and competition out of the way. (B)In the puritan town of Salem, Massachusetts, a group of girls were caught dancing in the forest by the reverend. To avoid any punishment for doing so, the girls claimed to have been bewitched. Soon, what began as a simple act of preservation to keep from being hung, very quickly turned into an opportunity to gain power over the other townspeople. (Tr-ThS)Slapping the label of witch was these peoples way of gaining said power. (ThS) (pt1)In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible,(pt2) Miller uses many literary devices, but most
The phrase “honesty is the best policy,” applies to Arthur Miller’s history-based drama, The Crucible, in a variety of ways. The accusations throughout the story build on lie after lie after lie from those trying to protect their own name, thus putting the whole town in a state of confusion and chaos. Nobody in the small town of Salem, Massachusetts knows whom to trust anymore, after all of the false allegations made. There are three characters in particular in the story that, if they had told the truth from the commencement, the town would have been in a state of peace rather than mayhem. If Abigail Williams, John Proctor, and Elizabeth Proctor had been honest, many innocent lives could have been spared and Salem would not be in such
First off, fear fear makes people afraid of how people see them. They are afraid of their life being a certain way that they don’t feel is right. There are examples of this in real life and in the crucible. Like Mrs. Putnam talking about her daughter saying, “Her soul is taken, surely.” (Act 1, Page 835) she is afraid that the devil has taken her over and has made her unholy. Also when Rev. Parris says, “ I am certain there be no element of witchcraft here.” (Act 1, Page 835) He is afraid that if the people of Salem believe there is witchcraft, then he will lose his “good” reputation. The people have a fear for this witchcraft and are afraid it will take over their families. This is why fear makes people afraid.
If it were not because of the self-preserving and greedy nature, also the paranoia of the people in Salem, the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 would most likely not have occurred. One of those people is Reverend Parris, who is the minister of the church in The Crucible. All Reverend Parris cares about is his reputation/good name and the amount of wealth he has. He is paranoid that there is a faction of townspeople that are trying to get him thrown out of his position. Because of his need to preserve his good name he goes along with the false proceedings of the witch trials. In the end he starts to doubt the trials for the same reason. He also suppresses evidence that would have discredited the court, but
The definition of judgment according to Encarta Encyclopedia, is the formation of an opinion. It is a simple definition, clear and direct. Although, there is more to the word judgment than meets the eye. What about the last word in the definition? What is an opinion? An opinion is described as a belief or conclusion that is held without any substantial proof. That word might not seem to have too much significance at this very moment, but it did back in 1692, in Salem, Massachusetts, during the witch scare. Making a judgment on somebody may seem harmless, but it can be very destructive.
In The Crucible, the townspeople are afraid of witches and will punish anyone that is potentially one, even if they are innocent. “I have seen too many frightful proofs in court—the Devil is alive in Salem, and we dare not quail to follow wherever the accusing finger points!”(Hale). The people of Salem will take every chance they get to eliminate a potential witch, and all they
The play, The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, takes place in the town of Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. This time in Salem, witchcraft was suspected of almost everyone in the town. Preserving one’s reputation becomes recurring concept throughout the play. The witchcraft accusations are usually made by people that have a biased view against others, which is why everyone tries to make sure their reputation looks well with the rest of the town. This concept is proven through the characters of John Proctor, Reverend Parris and Reverend Hale. These three characters go to great lengths to protect what the town of Salem thinks of them.
The Squat Oinochoe was found in Corinth, Greece. It is believed that it was made around 590-570 BCE which places this piece of pottery in the Archaic Period of Greece. When it was discovered in Corinth, it was obvious it was influenced greatly due to the cultural interactions between the Aegean and the eastern Mediterranean regions during the eighth and seventh centuries BCE. The vase has feral goats, panthers, creatures, and oriental styled floral motifs on the body and shoulder of the vase.

As pointed out by Keskes I. (2014), fundamentally, the empirical and meta-analytic studies suggest that subordinates working with transformational leaders are more committed to their organizations and demonstrate fewer withdrawal behaviours (Bono & Judge, 2003). Besides, Bass and Avolio (2004) maintain that transformational leaders perceive the strategic goals of the organization. They argue that transformational leaders are more sensitive to their environment and thus formulate and disseminate strategic goals that capture both the attention and the interest of their followers. Besides, managers who have a transformational leadership style will focus on the big picture of the organization and try to encourage the employees to have the same
