Stress is described as a psychological and psychological and physical strain or tension generated by physical, emotional, social, economical or occupation circumstances, events, or experience that are difficult to manage or endure (Andrew M. Colman, 2015). Stress can affect all aspects of your life, which include your emotional, behaviours thinking ability, and psychical health (webmd, 2016). More than one in five Australian have reported mental health issue as a source of stress (psychology, 2014).

44% of Americans feel more stress today than they have felt in the past 5 years. (American Psychology Association, 2015). Stress, a silent killer, has become a typical occurrence ranging amongst all generations. The American Psychology Association rates the top three causes of stress as money, work, and family responsibilities.Though stress has become more common amongst the population, knowing how to cope seems to be less known. Through education and applying coping skills, we can lead a strong and healthy lifestyle.

There are many different broad definitions of stress and how to cope with it, known as stress management.

Colonel J.D. Magnus was the commander of Camp Edwards in Massachusetts when the event hit that Saturday night which seemed like an eternity ago. Camp Edwards is or was an Army National Guard training area, the largest in the northeast. Like many National Guard and Reserve components throughout the nation it was the time of year that they held two week drills constantly on post by various units. On the night of the event the camp was at its maximum capacity as far as units on two week drill. Some of the units had been in the field for two weeks already and were returning to garrison to clean and turn in vehicles, tents, weapons and other gear. There were also new units arriving to start their two week drill.

During the Revolutionary War, several events are key to the buildup of tension between Britain and its colonists. Many of these events were due to the actions of the British. The introductions of the Quartering Act by the homeland and the tariffs put on various goods were all essential in the rising action of the ongoing dispute at hand. The inevitability of war grew greater with each of these occurrences, with the colonists being pushed further to rebellion congruently. However, among all of these disputes, the most important of them all is the Boston Massacre, because it was the first publicized act of violence done by the British, and also due to the powerful propaganda used to provoke further resentment against them.

BANG!!! A gun was fired, people scattered across the fields in panic running as fast as possible people’s hearts racing, the smell of smoke at the tents from the fire, people shouting and searching for their families. The sound of a train passing by when it all stopped, the train was blocking the shots, it was their chance to hide behind behind the hills or run far away were they couldn't see them. Others were brave and picked up rifles or pistols etc and did anything to fight back against the national guards this is what would become one of the worst massacres in Colorado between capital and labor. I was a news reporter and my job was to report the Ludlow Massacre by asking Ludlow survivors.

It is March 28, 1911, you wake up, make your coffee, and begin reading the newspaper, you notice a large printing at the top, reading, “148 leap to death or perish in fire.” As you read on, you come to realize that three days ago, women and men that lived on your street, are now dead due to a fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory.

It was a cool night in Boston in early march. I was passing by the customs house while a group of boys began to yell and hollering at some British soldiers. As the boys continued the soldiers began to fluster, so much to the point that he strikes one of the boys with his rifle. And as soon as I can blink, I was in the middle of a crowd surrounding the soldier. As the crowd grew, more soldiers came to his side. The crowd started to get out of control so one of the soldiers picked up his musket and fired into the crowd and so his allies followed suit with one of the musket shots nearly missing me. All of the citizens run in all directions and the crowd nearly trampling children. I returned home and later discovered that the soldiers were placed under house arrest and soon after taken to jail and charged for the death of several people.

In March of 1770, the tensions were high between the American colonist and the British soldiers stationed in Boston Massachusetts. The massacre happened on March 5, between the British troops and a crowd in Boston. In the evening of that day, tension would reach a bloody and dangours point resulting in what has been named The Boston Massacre which had also been called the “Incident on King Street” by the British. This incident would turn out to be one of the major events leading to the American Revolution. This event can be connected to the Boston marathon bombing because both were horrible acts and brought death. A hero from this day was Thomas Phelan who helped evacuate many, many people.

British soldiers were not well received after the tax situation, but they continued to attempt to do their jobs and keep the peace in America. One night in Boston there was a large party, and a man began to harass a soldier on duty. The situation escalated quickly, the man continued to harass the soldier and others began to join in, the soldier brought back up. What happened next was unfortunate; the men began to physically assault the soldiers with clubs daring them to fire their rifles. As one soldier when down his weapon discharged, causing the other soldiers to think that they should fire their weapons and killing a total of six men. The event was publicized as a terrible

When people think of stress they think it’s a bad thing which isn’t true, some stress is just your body’s reaction to certain situations. At times it may seem like stress is taking over your body leaving you physically, emotionally and mentally hurt but what you can do is learn how to manage your stress to have a healthier and happy lifestyle. Stress is a killer. There is doubt that stress can cause health problems. Daily stressors lead into major health problems. Therefore if you can manage your daily stress you can promote a healthier life. The American Medial Association defines stress, as being any disruptions of a person’s mental and physical well being.
