Tigers are amazing creatures that have gone through several evolutionary changes from the beginning of their species. A modern day tiger is most recognizable for their pattern of dark vertical stripes on orange fur with a white underside. The largest modern day tiger in record was eleven feet tall and weighed 387 pounds. In the terms of science tigers are under the classification of roaring tigers and the scientific name of a tiger is Panthera tigris. But in order to learn about about the evolutionary changes of the tigers of today; it is important to look at the the core definition of evolution itself and the history of the adaptations that lead to the modern tiger. When driven by hunger, it is known to eat almost anything from frogs, fish, and birds, to other predators like leopards or bears. Its preferred food, however, is deer and wild boar” (Sinha 40-41). Watching any cat, domestic or wild, will provide insight on how a tiger hunts for its prey. When the tiger spots something they crouch low and wait for the perfect moment to pounce, and considering that the prey is generally smaller than them, they are successful in the catch. However, other times they may miss the target and have to go hungry for a day or two.

Tigers are a fascinating, and endangered, animal. They develop fast, and go off on their own when they’re mature. Tigers live in various climates, and eat various things as well. They are very strong, and have amazing energy. Not only are they magnificent to watch, but there are many interesting, and not well known, facts about them.

To understand an animal more, you must first understand the history behind it. The evolution of Siberian tigers started when a fossil of Siberian tigers were found in China. It was two million years old. Even though the animals have different features that make them appear different, they are very much alike internally, including that in the distant past they had a common ancestor. For example, all tigers have characteristics such as; strip patterns,large paws, long claw, whiskers,sharp teeth, long tail, and strong hind legs. Recently, I’m reading a book named The Tiger Rising; it is a fictional book, which means all the names, characters, places, and incidents are author’s imagination. And I like to read this book because this book is fictional.

The Bengal tiger can be found in a few ecosystems such: tropical rainforest, mangrove swamps, and open grasslands (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, n.d.). The Bengal tiger is an apex predator and the majority of its interactions occur with its prey. As a solitary nocturnal predator it generally coexists with other predators except in stressful situations like food shortage. The Bengal tiger is a carnivore that preys on a variety of organisms such as: moose, deer, pigs, cows and other large bodied organisms. When they do feed they consume large amounts of meat at a time and only need to hunt about once a week. The loss of tiger population could result in an overabundance of herbivores; this overabundance of herbivores could in turn destroy the plant biodiversity by overfeeding (Global Tiger Initiative, n.d.). By keeping herbivore population in check tigers play a crucial role in sustaining the ecosystem. A negative interaction that tigers can be responsible for is human death. Although records of Bengal tigers hunting humans is rare, it still causes difficulties with nearby villages (Acharya, Paudel, Neupane & Kohl, 2016). They can be seen in Asia and North America also in other place as well. They eat elk,deer,and caribou that are a bit bigger then the wolverine it self. They also eat small prey, rodents, and sometimes plants and berries. They are opportunistic feeders and are scavengers with that being said they will eat dead animals and asleep animals.

Lions are generally large animals that can kill a 3,000 pound animal.They live in prides with usually 15 members. Female lions do most of the hunting while males protect the pride. They have scissor like back teeth to help kill their prey. It adapted to be nocturnal and able to hunt at night. Lions also have strong sharp claws

The hunters (animals who eat other animals) need to be fast moving and stealthy. For instance, a cheetah has a long stride and a flexible back, which helps it in capturing and killing its prey. But speed does not have to be a factor in catching prey. A combination of stealth and surprise helps a lion capture its prey.

He went to the right door, and opened it. The youth trusted his lover with a whole heart. He knew the fate she choose for him well never be barbaric. The youth fixed his hand on the handle of the door with hesitation. He raced his eyes all over the crowd to see the princess one more time, before he dissolve into the darkness of the choice she made for him. The princess hesitated to gaze at the lover. Her hesitation made his eyes glassy. With glassy eyes he dissolved into the darkness. She joined her hands together in an attempt to bargain with God that this moment never happened. The princess believed that she took the right choice.

Even with this act creatures like the Sumatran tiger are still facing certain extinction. These tigers live on the island of Sumatra. There are many threats to their species survival. One of the main threats to them is poachers.

Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck, book one in “The Tiger Saga”, includes immense amounts of mythology and indian culture, is a novel written for young adults. It also features translations of the hindi language, poetry, and recipes for meals throughout the book. Tiger’s Curse is packed full of adventures, romance, fantasy, and is very detailed and in depth.

Lynx are mainly solitary except during the breeding season. They tend to be secretive animals and are rarely seen in the wild.

Written by Aravind Adiga, The White Tiger tells the story of a man who went from living with nothing to someone with everything he could ever want. Balram Halwai grows up in “the Darkness,” an area of India where, among other things, family was the main source of life and contempt for family was of the utmost evil. As Balram Halwai embarks on his journey to become successful as the “White Tiger”, the social concept of family breaks down, thus giving way to him finding his independence.
