Lynx are not great runners, but have a rather clumsy gallop, lynx often ambush prey from ledges and trees. When stalking prey, they move within pouncing distance before striking. Lynx don't mind to wait until their prey is out in the open. In other words the lynx stakes his/her prey. In a fight against another predator, both teeth and claws become weapons. Lynx are mainly solitary except during the breeding season. They tend to be secretive animals and are rarely seen in the wild. The lynx has a variety of vocalizations to communicate. They are like those made by house cats just louder. Lynx have phenomenal endurance for cold. Even with an injury and hungry they and will leave their 10 -13 km range that they usually stay in, if food becomes
The muskox can survive in the tundra due to its large coat of rough hair on its body. It lives in the tundra to find what it needs to stay sustained such as roots, mosses and lichens.Next the Arctic Hare survives in the tundra because it has shortened ears and limbs, a wad small nose, fat that makes up 20% of its body, and a thick coat of fur. It live in the Tundra because that is its place of origin.Third the Polar Bear survives in the tundra because it has a big fur coat over a thick warm coat of fat. It stays in the arctic or tundra due to those locations have the food source they need to survive.Fourth the Arctic fox survives in the Tundra because the furry soles, short ears and short muzzle which are good for chilly climates. They stay
A lemming is and small rodent animal that lives in the arctic. And the biome called the tundra that is usually up north. The tundra is biome when it is cold, snowy, and dry. Plant life in the tundra is cold. They have a variety of plants there, they have bearberry, Caribou moss, Diamond leaf willow, Labrador Tea, Pasque Flower. Most animals that live in the tundra eats these plants to gain and use energy and season to stay warm. The tundra is a very cold place to be the temperatures start from 20 to 10 Fahrenheit so in Celsius that would be -6 to -12. And also during the summer time the have 50 to 60 of summer growing when the sun shines everyday 24 hours a day. Lemmings do not hibernate through the winter time. They keep on find food so they

The bobcat is twice the size of the average cat, but can kill larger animals. It is a highly adaptable, elusive, predator that inhabits wooded areas, deserts and mountains. It can be found from Canada to Mexico. The Lynx Rufus is active at dusk and night. The bobcat has exceptional hearing. Eats small animals, birds and reptiles.
A total of 116 subjects monitored by weekly airplane transects from February 2002 to March 2008 generated data for mortality due to predators, disease, or natural causes. Independent temperature data of daily maximum and minimums corroborated closely with NOAA temperature data throughout November 2002 to February 2008. Categorizing temperature data into four seasonal groups, a metric heat stress index (HSI) reflected variance in temperature, which correlates alongside increased energy expenditure for moose to maintain thermal equilibrium. Calculation of survival using non-parametric estimation partitioned 6 annual and 24 seasonal periods for regression analysis between temperature and survival. Dependent variables for seasonal survival and independent variables for HSI calibrated a linear model to predict magnitude of temperature variance on survival.
Bobcat also scientifically known as Lynx Rufus is most common in the United States, but it is also common in Northern Mexico and Southern Canada. I had the opportunity to observe this animal in Northern Mexico where I learned a lot of things about it. I selected Lynx Rufus because of their uniqueness in different areas and the fact that they remain a threatened species and, therefore it is important to get more information about it.
They have the ability to stand high-temperature levels, thus they will stay outdoors throughout the year. More so, they are burrowing animals and they love to feed.
Global temperature increases and associated increases in precipitation in northern Nova Scotia will likely have detrimental impacts on already threatened species. The Canadian Lynx population is decreasing quickly due to human hunting for its fur and its habitats being destroyed forcing them to continuously migrate north. They have evolved to thrive in snow cover and cold temperatures with their large snowshoe-like paws and thick fur, which gives them an advantage to capture prey compared to other predators such as coyotes or bobcats ("Threats To Lynx" 2012, Hoving et al. 2003). The lynx is a specialist predator focusing on the snowshoe hare as its primary source of food. The hare and the lynx have a very interconnected population cycle that lasts roughly 10 years (Yan et al. 2013). Hares experience large fluctuations in their population cycle based on a number of factors that influence the ecosystem. When hare populations are in decline, in periods where nature must regenerate, the lynx population is also shown to decrease, and vice versa with an approximate two year lag period for the lynx (("Lynx-Snowshoe Hare Cycle | Environment And Natural
Feral cats have a special body shape just right for stalking and pouncing on prey, they can take down animals the same size of them and will

Arctic ice caps are melting, causing many animals to find either a new habitat or new food, which are both extremely challenging. For example, in Document A, sea lions
Bobcats is found in a variety of habitats across the southern half of North America and southern parts of Canada right down to southern Mexico. They closely related to the larger and more northerly dwelling Canadian Lynx. However, their habitat in the desert, swamp, Mountainous forest, and even in suburban areas in some places. The Bobcat is an incredibly elusive predator that hunts its prey by stalking it silently in the dark before pouncing on it with incredible force, and despite their size Stalking it silently in the dark before pouncing on it with incredible force, and despite their
Cats are carnivores, meaning they eat meat, and they use sharp, retractable claws to get their food. They can hunt at anytime of the day. First, when they locate their prey, they creep up onto it, putting as little possible. Then, they pounce onto them, swatting with their paws to get
In order for cheetahs to eat, they approach their prey in a certain way to be successful; otherwise, they will not eat. Russell also notes that, the cheetah hunts with speed and knocks down its prey before killing it (Russell). When cheetahs hunt, they first identify their meal. Whenever there are hiding places available like tall grass, the cheetah use the cover to sneak up on its prey (JessZoo). They lower themselves so their victim does not see them. They creep very slowly and soon gain speed. If the prey looks up, the
Majestic, noble, and brave, this famous iconic wild animal on the planet has captivated the people since the beginning of time. They are most feared by other animals thus, known as the king of the jungle – no other than the lions. Member of the genus Panthera, the lion is one of the big cats in the Felidae family. A lion’s head and body size average about 4.5 to 6.5 feet and tail of about 26 to 40 inches in length. A lion also weighs about 265 up to 420 pounds and a size relative to a 6-foot human. These mammals are also carnivores. Lions have always seen hunting in groups called pride. While lions generally avoid a full-grown elephant, lions still prefer their preys large like the zebras, buffaloes, and giraffes. Poised as the top animal in the ecological pyramid, lions have strong physical qualities, fascinating reputation, and an unfortunate decreasing number of population.
