People often go through relationship issues, breakups, sadness, depression, struggles, and other emotional events. Listening to songs gives people’s emotion a voice to which they can relate to. Being able to connect to people at such a deep and personal level allows songs to become popular and allows the Artist’s album to rise to the top and be successful. In the year 2015, there were many successful albums that were released, but in my opinion Drake’s album If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and Justin Bieber’s album Purpose was a success because of how deeply the artists were able to connect with their fans and listeners.
Firstly, Drake’s album If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late reached out to the everyday

This caused his popularity to sky rocket and his fans kept on increasing. Drakes album Nothing Was the Same, was such a huge hit and became the bestselling album of 2013. This hyped up his 2015 album release and many people bought it just because they expected Drake’s new album to match or exceed the popularity of his last album. Drake sings about what goes on the daily in his life and people are able to relate to this, because many of them find themselves in a similar situation. Thus, allowed this album to rise to the top and be successful.
Moreover, Justin’s album Purpose was a huge success because of all the different styles of music he was offering to the listeners. He included many genre styles in his album such as R&B, pop, EDM, folk, contemporary R&B and more. This allowed people from many different music tastes to listen and like his album. It also helped people try out other genres of music too. This album is a showcase of how Justin Bieber matured as artist. This album relates to past relations a lot and how to coup with those lingering feelings. Many of his songs in this album are about relationship issues but still he is able to keep it uplifting and provide support to people going to the same situation. Justin Bieber sends a message through his songs that it will be alright and that you should “Love Yourself” which is also a song title in his album. Another key factor to the success of Justin Bieber’s Purpose was the incredible number of diehard fans
Aubrey Drake Graham, or as most of you may know him as, just Drake, had a very interesting childhood and early life. He was born in Toronto, Canada on October 24th, 1986. Drake had grown up with music always around and in his life, and it just naturally became a part of his life throughout his childhood all the way to now, present day. According to biography.com, Dennis Graham, or Drake's dad, was actually a drummer for Jerry Lee Lewis, a very popular and famous rock star, throughout the 1900’s, and Sandi Graham, his mother, also came from a very “musical” family as well, which had played a huge role to Drake's musical background and success. Dennis is an African-American Catholic, and Sandi is a white Canadian Jew. This makes Drake a very unique individual, because he is one of the only black Jewish-Canadian
Drake would release his debut studio album, Thank Me Later, in 2010 to commercial success.[6] Thank Me Later would debut at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and was soon certified platinum
Drake's highly anticipated and unnecessarily hyped album has dropped, and it is disappointing when comparing it to his previous work. This follow up to his mixtape, if you’re reading this it's too late, is an emotional and spacey project, with drake seemingly riding the horse of fame to make his music.
Justin Bieber is a widely known artist. He is one of the youngest singers to win a Grammy. Justin Bieber was found on Youtube singing songs by his now manager Scooter Braun. Justin Bieber is a 22 year old pop singer from Canada. He is influential to the young new generation. A lot of older people, like parents of kids, think that he is a bad influence on their children because of his past. What people don’t realize is that Justin Bieber has done so many good things that the media won’t say about him. Justin Bieber is an influential person because of how he rose to fame, his singing career, and his many awards.
In 2006 Drake self-released a mixtape that wasn’t the mega hits that we are used to from him today but it was able to get him foot in the door by featuring artists such as Trey Songz and Lupe Fiasco. Soon thereafter he released a few more songs to his Myspace page and even got a video played on BET’s 106 and Park. Still not many people knew Drake, the rapper. If you asked anybody, he was wheelchair Jimmy from Degrassi. It wasn’t until he lined up with Lil Wayne, that any hope for success because more than just a dream. It all started when Lil Wayne performed his song, Ransom, from his Myspace page at the 2008 MTV’s Video Music
To their surprise, Drake won't budge. I personal like this song, because most people in the world will look you right in your face and smile but inside they're the people who don't want you to succeed in life. Then we've the people that will tell you, you'll never be nobody. But you as a person you can't let people stop you from succeeding in life, and once you've met your goal, you've to prove them wrong that tried to bring you down, and didn't believe in you that you're somebody, and you can do anything that you set your mind to do. Nobody can stop you from doing what you want to do. This song is basically proving people wrong and that's why I personally like this
Has it ever occurred to you that this generation tries to search for the next best thing? Is it like a business man try to look for the next best thing that everyone is buying? I mean if other people do it and there perfectly fine doing it we assume that we could do it and we think we will be just fine as well. Take those examples and try to use it with music. Do you think that what we listen to can affect us in any way or not? Maybe and maybe not, but some of us tend to get influenced by what they put into their heads. Not everything that we see or do can import negative thought or feelings, but listening is a part of that category as well. Therefore, what these artists are trying to do is trying to use a rhetorical device to tell us that
The song quickly grew popularity on the mixtape “So Far Gone”, which was Drakes third mixtape released February 13th, 2009. Being the top mixtape of all modern music, hit the charts with significant success on billboards top-100. Following the release of the mixtape, a notorious bid war started between two record labels for the artist to contract with. Young money record label, had won the upcoming artist.
The best way to get a four spot on the Billboard Hot 100, is by rapping about something everyone will go through, a heartbreak. That is what Kanye West did in “Heartless,” a song about a heartbreak he went through with former fiancee Alexis Phifer. The song debuted as a single but was later put on his 808s & Heartbreaks album. The song explains nearly everything about his relationship. They both made mistakes, but she’d act as if hers were minor. That is why he states, “I’m gonna take of tonight.” He emphasizes the word tonight, to prove he is exhausted and wants to be taken seriously. But he then argues himself by asking why they always end up late night on the phone. Which proves who is the intended audience. Simply, anyone that has gone through something similar, sometimes ends up on the phone with them late night with remorse. West’s tone in is angry in this song. He was tired of his ex-fiancee, who left him at his lowest point. When his mother had passed away just months before he was finished working on this album. Both of the women that he loved the most have left his life, in an instant. Kanye just began working on his music as a way to overlook the trials set ahead of him. He released this song and it was only the second time he used auto tune. Apparently auto tune can get you a 5x platinum record, mind that’s five million sales.
He had a lot music opportunities such as him having songs on the Top 100 for eight years straight. People say Drake tends to shape genres to his liking and also overcome charts. Drake became the first Canadian rapper to have his music video featured BET when his first single called “Replacement Girl”. Also, Drake did a freestyle on a song with Lil Wayne called “Man of the
According to Merriam Webster’s Dictionary the definition of voice is “the ability to sing.” This is probably the most important criterion because an audience doesn’t want to listen to a song that contains a horrible voice. This song is a perfect example of two amazing voices. Drake, a famous hip-hop and rap artist, and Rhianna, another famous hip-hop artist, sing this song as a duet. Their voices fit perfectly in this song because they both have a serious tone in their voice to relate with the situation the song is addressing. For example, this song couldn’t be sang by two singers that have a high pitch happy voices because the message that is being portrayed is more of a serious tone rather than a happy tone; therefore, these two singers voices fit the part very well.
On February 13, 2009 Drake released his third mixtape called So Far Gone that is said to be his introduction into the music industry. His two most famous songs on the mixtape were Best I Ever Had and Successful. On June 29, 2009 it was confirmed that Drake had signed a record deal with Young Money Entertainment. While preforming the song Best I Ever Had in Camden, New Jersey alongside Lil Wayne, Drake with a prior injured knee took a nasty spill on stage. He tore a ligament in his knee and went on the surgery table on September 8, 2009. A year later, on June 15, 2010 his album, Thank Me Later was released. The song Over on Thank Me Later hit number fourteen on the Billboard Hot 100. Also, the song received a nomination for the Best Rap Solo Performance at the 53rd Grammy Awards. The final track to the album was

The music industry varies tremendously by genres, feelings, and messages of the song. The genre of the songs I chose is country. Neither of these songs have a negative outlook, unlike most country music nowadays. In the country music world, dearth something other than just breakups and sad outlooks. Not every song as the same exact meanings, but can have the same concept.
