On the fatal day of the Boston Marathon these plans and support structures were placed into action. According to FEMA a Unified Command post must be established and the proper measurements taken in account from the situation. The Unified Command post was stationed near Westin Hotel with the leadership already in place and actively coordinating. Their first objective is to assess the damage and set priorities and delegate response activities. The Joint Hazard Assessment team went to the detonation sites and took air monitoring devices in order to check for potential contamination issues. The reading came back negative and was communicated to the scene commanders but not the hospitals. This is an area that could have seen improvement because
Marketing plans and strategies are an important part of almost any business today. One of the biggest industries marketing plans have benefited and changed in a number of different ways is the sports industry. The development of the sports marketing industry has led companies to invest millions of dollars to have their product associated with specific teams, players, and sporting events attempting to connect with consumer and create profit for both parties involved. The money involved in sports marketing calls for these sponsorships and endorsement decisions to be made both strategically and confidently. After researching the sports industry from a business perspective the importance of marketing decisions is
Independent variables and the tendencies in their descriptive statistics were examined first. Then, we performed a binary logistic regression to assess the combined effects of the independent variables on bid success, and determine what factors are ultimately the most influential on mega event bidding success. We decided to split the descriptive statistics and logistic regression to two separate time periods using the year 2008 as our
The fifth trend is “Internationalisation of Australia sports”. Television and media broadcasting has allowed sports played throughout the world to be broadcasted instantly to Australia Television. Currently in South Korea the Pyeong Chang 2018 Olympic Winter Games are being held, this major event is broadcasted instantly to every television in the world. Now that the media can broadcast popular sports all around the world, this gives the media more profit as more people are tuning in to watch. This results in more exposure for the sponsors. This trend affects my participation in Ballroom Dance as this sport isn’t exposed as much as other sports like Touch Football. Touch Football had in 2015 – 2016 694,427 Participants, See appendix D.

After the 1984 Los Angeles Games showed for the first time that mega-events could produce an economic surplus, mega-sport events, particularly the Olympic Games, acquired central status for city and national government development agendas (Andranovich, Burbank and Heying, 2001). Every two years, millions of people around the world turn on their TV sets and watch the greatest athletes in the world compete for the greatest achievement any athlete can reach… The bronze, silver, and gold medals of the summer and winter Olympics. Those millions of people cheer mostly for their country and wear their favorite athlete’s jersey. They plan parties for their favorite events and make memories with every game. The operation of the Olympic Games has its commercial operation rules, it uses the method of giving after fetching, mutual reciprocity and mutual benefit; it gives some economic benefits to the host city, at the same time it has strict control on the market development of the host city. Therefore, to develop the Olympic economy, we should not only follow the operation rules of the IOC (International Olympic Committee), but also fully utilize the added value of the rules to develop our own economy.
Secondly, another challenge is to increase brand awareness and connect Decathlon China with its customers. To begin, we can see that no efforts are done to bring consumers to the Decathlon’s official website. As a result, Decathlon China should use specific online forums about sports, where people usually tell their purchasing experiences, ask questions, etc. and where Decathlon China could use banners to be visible and attractive. Decathlon China could also hire an employee who will be charged to share its “purchasing experiences at Decathlon China”, so as to convince people to have a closer look at Decathlon China when they are looking for sporting goods. In the same time, we can see that the competition is highly using social media to connect with their customers. Accordingly, Decathlon China should create a company fan page on Chinese local social media, and more specifically, Renren and Sina Weibo, as its target audience usually hang out on these social media. The Decathlon fan page should inform potential consumers, bring them to the official website, but also allow consumers to interact, ask questions directly to Decathlon. As a consequence, Decathlon China should also hire few employees to update its fan page frequently and answer very quickly to the questions of potential consumers to show their reactivity.
