The government of the United States consists of three branches: The Legislative Branch, The Executive Branch, and the Judicial Branch. These branches each have a different job to keep our government running smoothly. The Legislative Branch is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. To check other branches the legislative branch can check the executive branch by overriding presidential vetoes with a two-thirds vote, decide to fund an executive action or not, and has the ability to impeach the President if his actions require it.
