The one that I choose in historical events and the changes that they may have triggered in the culture’s music which is Music of Turkey. Turkey Music diverse elements ranging from Central Asian Folk Music to influences that takes from Arabic music, Byzantine music, Greek Music, Ottoman Music, Persian Music, Armenian music, and Balkan Music, The pure of Traditional Music in Turkey have spans to across centuries to a time when Seljuk Turks colorized Anatolia an Persia in the 11th century and contains many of elements in both Turkic and pre-Turkic influences. Many modern popular music are trace Turkey Music roots in the early 1930s drive for Westernization. Turkey also have their own documented folk music and they produced in the ethnic styles

Native Americans are the original inhabitants of North America. Though often depicted as either corn farming redmen or malicious scalping warriors, these stereotypes do not include the diversity among the hundreds of tribes that once dominated the North American land. This is especially true for the Atikamekw Nation who are native to Quebec, Canada. The Atikamekw were a peaceful tribe that only fought in one war which was due to the Montagnais and the French and their allyship with the Montagnais. This group of Algonquian people were split in three separate communities: Manawan, Obedjiwan, and Wemotaci, but all shared the same values of hard work and family.

After the interview the Turkish military officials, soldiers and ordinary men sacked Armenian villages and cities and massacred their citizens, many Armenian’s where murdered. As years passed in 1908 a new government came to place overthrowing Sultan Abdul Hamid which was called “young Turks” at first the Armenian’s had hope that things could probably change for them now that they had a different government. But they soon realized that the way these “young Turks” thought was “non- Turks and especially Christian non- Turks were a grave threat to the new state” ( History.com 2010).

The Turkish government used propaganda to manipulate public opinion, firstly. They neutralized any possible support for the Armenian victims by “maintaining a well-coordinated propaganda campaign that demoralized the Armenians in the eyes of their Turkish neighbors. They would use words such as “traitors”, “spies,” conspirators,” and “infidels”. Then, the government focused on calling the Armenian men to military service, after the removal of Armenian community leader and intellectuals in Constantinople. Next, they removed all firearms to prevent self-defense and started deportations of Armenians.

In the first millennium CE Turkic people began migrating into Anatolia. They had established the Ottoman Empire by the 14th Century. For over the next five centuries the Empire’s ethnically diverse population was organized into a “millet system, thereby ensuring cultural and religious pluralism” (Rutgers, 2013).

Everyone has a different perspective on an idea because of our nurture, for example, our religious beliefs, economic background and values and opinions instilled by our families throughout our adolescence. The key reasons Europeans articulated such different views of the Ottoman Empire and the Turks is because they were afraid of a religion and culture they had zero or very little knowledge of. This is greatly demonstrated throughout of the kinds of sources they’ve read and had heard of, as well as their religious identities. Some different views that will be discussed are that the Ottomans are elites, a strong force with a strong military, and that they are a refined group as well as that they were barbaric.

The Turkish people of the Ottoman Empire were followers of Islam, whereas the Armenian people’s domination was of the Christian belief, even though they resided in the Ottoman Empire. Due to this obvious divide, prejudice had begun to sprout. Armenians had to pay discriminatory taxes and were denied participation in government.

If you travel to Turkey today, just a reminder that it is illegal to talk about what happened to Armenians in the early 1920’s.

Currently both the United States and Turkey government have suspended all non-immigrant visa services for travel between the two countries, after the arrest of a US consulate employee in Istanbul. This affected many citizens, including travelers, since it blocks Turks from travel to the United States, and vice versa, for the foreseeable future. Moreover, there has also been an instance of arrests of entertainers for singing songs or performing in Kurdish.

Throughout history, the middle east has often been the focus of news reporters. A middle eastern country that has not been exempt from this, is Turkey. Turkey has not only been a focus, but it also has had a very long, complicated history.
