So now schools want to keep kids even longer than the already unnecessary length. Or at least unnecessary length of each individual class. The schools have gone too far this time, planning to add over an hour to the school day. Its already long enough as it is, but now they are going to drag it out even longer. Students are human beings, and like every person they can only handle so much in one day. But doing it everyday is even more far fetched.
The biggest reason that this is a bad idea, is because of the excessive work already put into one day. Students are young and can only handle so much, or should only handle so much. But school work and stress is already a big enough weight, adding almost 2 classes to one
Having a three day weekend and more time to learn is a huge win win, and with the extended school day that could happen. The extended school day is a controversial issue that has been argued over for awhile. Whether or not we should increase the length of the school day itself and give students a three day weekend or just keep the school days normal. Schools should definitely increase the length of the school day and give students more down time and freedom by giving them a three day weekend, more quality time with teachers in school and dramatically help the struggling students.
If an hour and half of school were added every day, students would miss after school activities. Students will miss the fun extracurricular activities. and students won’t get the exercise they need.
The school board plans to add one and a half hours to school each day. Do you agree or disagree? I disagree strongly on this topic because school is already stressful and having to do one hour and a half of work each school day probably make us just absolutely hate school. That one hour and a half can change a lot, because of being so bored because could do some very dumb things which could cause people's lives to be changed.
Students would benefit immensely from this change, as resources and facilities could be upgraded with the extra funds that come from being in school for fewer days. Activities that normally couldn’t be done during class, like time to work on homework, and activities that take longer than an average class time allows, such as science labs, could be worked into the schedule. The added Friday or Monday would give teachers and students an extra day to recover from the intense curriculum and be able to obtain a much needed period of relaxation. Then, young Americans would be less stressed and much more eager to
Imagine sitting at a desk all day listening to a teacher drone on and hand you a worksheet right after that. Well if your school day was 9 hours and 30 minutes instead of 8 hours, then that's what you would have to do. You would be there till 4:30 in the afternoon. Who wants to be there for that with only lunch as a break? Every class would be about 18 minutes longer. Which is why I don’t agree with schools extending the day because it can cause sleep deprivation, result in more kids getting in trouble, and more kids zoning out.
Have you ever just wished your school day as shorter? In some schools children have longer school days. In Finland the school day is fifteen percent shorter than the school day in the United States, but their test scores are much higher. People have different points of view on length of the school day in America. Some people think that school days should be longer to improve academics for students.“The US lags behind other countries in core subjects. In 2015, American students came in 24th in reading, 25th in science, and 41st in math out of 72 countries—not the worst, but far from the best,” (pg. 30) Because the U.S.A is behind, many experts believe that students should go to school for an additional 90 minutes a day.U.S.A. Some experts
Did you know the school board is thinking about making school longer? However, kids already stay in school for 8 hours a day. Therefore, they do not need to stay in school for any longer. Mostly every student and teacher thinks that 8 hours is enough. The school board should not extend the school days because it may cause students to be mentally exhausted, extracurricular activities will be in the morning or people can not do them, and it may cause parents who drive their children to be late to work or students who have jobs after school.
The school board of the district should not make the school day longer by adding an extra hour. Kid’s will get tired, not being able to focus and stay off task. Kid’s also need time for basic necessities, like eating dinner, sleeping a full eight hours, being social, and even for some kids, working at jobs.
Conclusively, members of the school board, faculty, student body, and community I ask you to strike down motion for a four day school week. No matter how you look at the idea it provides no actual financial benefits, has the potential to overwork students, and removes time for
The topic of this essay is a debate in whether all high schools should be extended 2 years longer instead of being an education of just four years. The part I take in this debate would be that I disagree; I think high school should remain as a four year educational system and should not be extended. In this essay I will be providing you with opinions of others and opinions of my own to support my point of view on why I strongly disagree with this debate. I will also be including on how high school lasting only four year has its negative effects too. Last but not least I will include on what authors have to say about this debate.
I believe that school days should be shorter for the following reasons; students should be able to do things they like outside of school more often than they do, students could maintain a job and learn skills about the future from working outside in the real world, and because students would have more opportunities to get things done and be more organized. The first reason I believe school should be shorter is because students should be able to do more of the things they like outside of school and have more time to do it. When students become more interested in something, they can pursue the activity more and maybe one day have a profession in a certain skill. That way someone could find out more of what they want to do with their future and focus a little bit more on that.
I wish that we would not have to come to school but 3 or 4 days a week. That would be pretty cool. Students won't pay attention much if you had to stay at school all day.
I agree that school days should be extended one and half hour to each school day. Hear are some reasons why I agree on this situation or agreement. Students can do better in school and outside of school. Students can learn more and better things in school. Also students can get even better grades then before. Next students can do there work better and have 100 percent. Lastly students can move their SRI and test scores up.
Would others be okay with 1 ½ hours added to their school day? I highly doubt it. If so, here are a few reasons that i can hopefully convince whoever is reading this why it’s cruel. To begin with, due to the extended school hours, in some seasons, students won’t get home until dark. Also, for that very reason, some students may transfer or perhaps drop out due to this issue, causing the school to close. Finally, classes would become even more tedious and boring. After all, it’s not that great of a decision.
Maybe another reason students are so unfocused is because class times are too long. After sitting in a chair at a desk listening to someone talk to me for 45 minutes, I’m exhausted and bored. It would be nice if during those 45 minutes we could have a few short breaks. I would be a lot more focused if I could get up for one minutes every 10 minutes or so and get a drink, stretch, and maybe talk to my friends in that class. Then I wouldn’t be falling asleep in class all the time. It would also give me a minute or so to focus on something else. But if the government expand the time , the school will get more boring and will lead to stress for a lot of
