The topic of this essay is a debate in whether all high schools should be extended 2 years longer instead of being an education of just four years. The part I take in this debate would be that I disagree; I think high school should remain as a four year educational system and should not be extended. In this essay I will be providing you with opinions of others and opinions of my own to support my point of view on why I strongly disagree with this debate. I will also be including on how high school lasting only four year has its negative effects too. Last but not least I will include on what authors have to say about this debate. I personally think that high school only lasting four years is a reasonable amount of years. In this whole four year process, high school provides you with the educational information and level you are expected to obtain. I like the idea that when you are done with high school you are the age of 18 and legally you can make your own grown up decisions. I also like how this process isn’t so long they balanced on how you can get the education you need in that small amount of time. Being a high school student I disagree that school shouldn’t be extended for two more years I strongly think that four years is a good amount of years to learn the information that is needed to learn during high school. If school were to be extended for two more years the rate of
Summer helps families and friends have amazing experiences together, you can stay up late eating ice cream on your couch watching movie marathons with your family, or go to the beach all day and relax with your friends. With year-round schools, you wouldn’t have that opportunity because there would be no summer! Year-round schools are becoming more and more popular around the world. Whether or not Florida should have year-round school has become a topic of increasing interest for several years. Florida should not have year-round school because year-round school disrupts students learning, and makes sports schedules and summer jobs difficult for students. Although some people believe during year-round school, students don’t forget their academic skills, there is no concrete evidence it helps students, so Florida should not have year-round school.
Most students enjoy summer vacation, but some educators feel that the summer break is too long and that students do not retain information as easily when they return in the fall. Some people argue that there should be year-round schools, where there would by a 3-4 week break in the summer, a long winter break, and a week off in the spring and fall. I disagree with those people. The biggest problem with this schedule would be the summer break, it just isn’t long enough. I believe year-round school is a bad idea because summer break is a time when students get to take a break, parents may not be able to find a caretaker during the shorter breaks, and schools may not have sufficient funds.
Despite the obvious advantages, many high school students would not want to extend high school to five years. This is because, students already feel as if four years is too much for high school. Of the millions of high school students, about one out of every five actually enjoy high school. With dropout rates rising faster than ever, adding an extra year would just increase dropout rates even more. Also, most high school students lose interest after a few years of their high school experience. Extending high school to five years would just be more time for students to be bored. However, by extending high school to five years, students will be able to explore more subjects. By doing this, more students will be able to find a subject in which they are interested in. Because of this, the student will be able to specialize in that one subject, since they are interested in it. Also, this would decrease the amount of drop outs and allow students to be more interested in school subjects.
Research has shown that teenagers experience a change in their internal sleep clocks so that waking up early and going to sleep early are difficult. I agree with the decision to change school times and what it has to offer. This would not only help the teenagers with many things but also accommodate the parents schedules too. I believe that if the school system were to alter the times so that High Schoolers were to wake up later then it would fix various conflicts; teen depression, lack of awareness, and it allows parents to work later.
fatigue overwhelms you the whole day. Now imagine that you slept this was every night. Accomplishing simple tasks would be difficult if one is sleep deprived. Performing at your potential would almost be impossible. In order to get rid of these unforgettable feeling many people would sleep late and go to bed early. But with such early start times for high school many students feel sleep deprived and do not achieve their best. Doing so would improve students health. Some individuals feel that keeping the start times at their current time would be best for parents and school districts. However, many people believe that delaying school start times would positively
Is it really right for high schools to be abolished from the teen’s system of education? This question has been a vital issue in the present age educational structure. According to research carried out by many educational researchers lately, it was discovered that the two-year high schooling scheme is irrelevant and obsolete in the learning structure for teen’s, and should be abolished from their system of education or scheme of learning.
Education always is a controversial topic. Especially connect about high school to education. In text ‘Abolish high school’ by Rebecca solnit, she emphasize that high school is a useless system, it identity students that who they are in the rest of life. Also high school like a jail, you have to conform or take punishment. However i disagree with her, because i believe high school is a important part of life, and it guide teen learn a lot from high school which you can’t learn without high school.
Have you ever thought of attending year-round school? Although many schools in the U.S have year-round school saying it’s better for for the children's education. Most of the children say the short 15 day breaks actually interrupt the learning flow. Plus it puts more pressure on the teachers for the next school year. In this essay you’ll be reading why kids shouldn’t have year-round school by explaining what year-round school is, how it affects the kids, what the teachers feel about it, and more, hopefully by the end of this essay you’ll agree.
High school students should have a later starting time in school due to students not getting the amount of sleep they need to function. Students that stay up late at night are way too tired to learn when they get to school early in the morning. Most students who do stay up late are unable to sleep due to melatonin not yet being produced. This shows that starting school at a later time would have many positive benefits. These benefits include higher test scores, increased attendance, more participation from students, and higher performance from athletes.
Still, advocates [those in favor] say studies show the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. In 1996, high school
In the articles of “High schools starting later to help sleepy teens”, claim is that school
After reading both passages, I believe that both authors agreed to the idea of starting high schools later. In the passages "High Schools Starting Later to Help Sleepy Teens "and "High School Will Keep Starting Too Early both implied the fact that teens need a lot of rest. Here's why, they both stated facts on how they believed schools should consider starting earlier. As the first author decided to use facts about why high schoolers should enter later, the second author stated the reasons why high schools could not be delayed. In the first passage the author expressed on how students stay on task more frequently and doze off less if school started later.
Some people say that extending school hour's is a bad thing for multiple reason's.I strongly disagree because their are many benefit's to extending school hour's to start at a later time. For example, if state's moved schools hour's to a later time their would be increased performance and reduced absences. There would also be a reduced number of student's falling asleep in class's and much more.
All through high school one always wonders why certain courses have to be taken. Thinking certain courses are a waste of one’s time and how it takes 12 years just to receive a diploma. Sounds crazy to think half of one’s life is spent in school preparing to receive a better understanding of education. During graduation, walking through the stage makes one along other proud and accomplished of all the efforts that took place. This not only helps one become more educated and aware of the things going around them, but helps become financially stable with a job or other necessities in life. Therefore, high school should be mandatory for students at least till there are 18, and not to drop-out.
High school is hard. There are bullies, people who harass others. People who have disabilities try harder because they can't understand as well. Kids ask themselves every day: why am I in school maybe I should just drop out. These questions may feel like two sides of the same coin, but there are separate issues here: What are the legal requirements for attending school and dropping out? Even if you can drop out legally, what are the probable consequences? Every state has their own laws as to when a child may drop out. "For instance, several states allow students to leave school if they: have received their parents' written consent and have participated in an exit meeting with school officials are legally emancipated, or are attending high school part time and are either legally employed or enrolled in a private vocational school."
