Honor, by all means, is a virtue. Since ancient times, humans have recognized honor as being worthy of emulation. In modern times, however, humans have used honor to take advantage of other people for their gains, which is why our country is deprived of such virtue. Honor isn’t something that can be bought, sold, or traded. Rather, it is gained through respect while determining the hierarchy of an individual and revealing their loyalty and intentions. Therefore, I am deeply honored to be among the exemplary students who are being considered for the National Honor Society. The standards for entrance into the National Honor Society are scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Through this paper, I will strive to prove that I possess these …show more content…
I am the type of student who is willing to work for the benefit of those in need without compensation or recognition of any kind. As a service club, the National Honor Society is highly concerned with giving its all to the school and community at large. I possess excellent community service skills, as they are evidently presented on my Action Team, Interact club, and the American Red Cross records. With all three clubs combined, I have obtained over 250 community service hours since my freshman year of high school. Because National Honor Society places a large emphasis on service, I would be the perfect example of an NHS member. In fact, community service and leadership intertwine since leaders take the initiative to aid others in a wholesome manner throughout their daily activities. For example, the Action Team was collecting donations for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society through a project called “Pennies for Patients.” Our team gradually became idle in collecting money, so I decided to take the initiative to collect spare change from customers outside of my town’s Farmer’s Market. By the end of the day, I raised over $400 alone, and in total, our entire team raised over $1000. In all essence, community service taught me compassion and understanding, opening me to opportunities and choices right in my school and …show more content…
As poverty, terrorism, hunger, and economic crises escalate, I believe it is essential for me as a student to possess a deep human desire to contribute to my school, community, and ultimately, the world. Because of my profound attributes, I am able to promote leadership, develop character, and create enthusiasm for academic excellence. I was chosen as a candidate to display academic prestige but I perceive it as an opportunity to offer my exemplary efforts of scholarship, leadership, service and
Simply being invited to become a member of the National Honor Society is a privilege. It’s not necessarily surprising to me that I was invited but rather gives me an exhilarating feeling. A part of me now knows that my sedulous efforts have finally paid off. Throughout my high school career so far I’ve exhibited the four pillars, which are scholarship, leadership, character, and service. This organization administers a plethora of opportunities that has an impact on the students and the lives of others especially. To be accepted into the National Honor Society would motivate me to contribute even more to not only our school but also the community.
After the induction ceremony, I came before my mom, both of us smiling. Words were not necessary for me to know that my mom was proud of me. Being in National Honor Society was something that did not just made my parents proud, but it made me proud of myself. The honor of being in the club is not the only reason why the club is so valuable for me. It is the experience that I get form interacting and working with students from other grade levels that really inspires me. The club meetings and activities allow me to meet amazing individuals that I might have never had the opportunity to meet. National Honor Society is also a club that helps and encourages their club members to give back to the community. Some events that National Honor Society
The four pillars of National Honor Society (NHS) include scholarship, service, leadership, and character. I have already received this application opportunity due to meeting the requirements of the scholarship portion of NHS, which requires a strong commitment to learning and putting effort towards achieving high grades in the classroom. I intend to benefit the remaining three pillars of service, leadership, and character through my willingness to work for others free of reward, initiative to lead my peers, and optimal decision making.
I’m so honored, to be eligible for National Honor Society. Ever since my dad told about N.H.S. back in 8th grade, that became my goal. My dad told me that to be in it you need to be an excellent student but, also help others. In my middle school years, I participated in Boy Scouts. But, due to sports and having a job, I had leave. But, a big requirement for them was to be apart in the community. Making you have to volunteer, participate in the different things, helping others,Boy Scouts made it fun. I’ve been lucky to have been apart of it leaving me with much knowledge that I can use everyday.
Being inducted into National Honors Society requires a student to demonstrate all of the four qualities many of our role models in the present and in the past have possessed, which include: scholarship, service, leadership and character. As I’m considered a candidate for this group, I already possess the quality of scholarship and it is my duty in this paper to show that I hold the other three important attributes needed to qualify for this institution.
I am deeply honored to be recognized as an eligible candidate for the National Honors Society. After learning about the National Honor Society, and what the organization represented, I knew it was something I wanted to participate in. This organization works hard to better educational opportunities for students across the nation, and that is something I would like to play a part in to further the outstanding reputation of the NHS. I believe that this is an opportunity I deserve due to my recognizable hard work. I am aware that the NHS is known for recognizing students with outstanding grades and commendable characteristics, which is something I believe I have obtained throughout my years of hard work.
Many only see the National Honor Society as an organization that will look excellent on college applications, and although that may be true, the National Honor Society is not an organization that can be taken so lightly. The National Honor Society is so much more than a scholarship-granting organization, the NHS is an organization that helps develop the requisite for render service and the development of leadership and character. The growth and success of the NHS relies on not only its members, but also those outside of the organization. Its members can only do so much on their own. Part of building character and leadership is to encourage and rely on others whom are capable of helping. The members of NHS shouldn’t let their pride and achievements
Throughout my high school career I have demonstrated the four pillars that the National Honor Society is built upon: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
The National Honors Junior Society is one of the nation's prime organizations established to acknowledge outstanding middle school students. In order to be eligible to be a part of this society, students must exhibit certain achievements in different areas. Students must demonstrate excellence in areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. The purpose of this prestigious organization is to provide a strong foundation for building leadership skills through service to the school and the surrounding community. I should be a part of this society because I believe I posses great leadership, scholarship, character, citizenship, and service qualities.
In my opinion, service is one of the most valued pillars here in the National Honors Society. The inductees you see here today were required to accumulate a total of 200 hours of community service hours, which is no small feat by any means. A maximum of 100 of those could come from in school activities such as clubs and sports, while the rest had to be acquired
The National Honors Society believes in leadership, character, scholarship, and service. I believe that I can bring that to Manchester High School. The National Honors Society gives the opportunity students to participate in the community. Without the NHS, the community wouldn’t be able to run the way it does. The NHS not only helps the community, but it also helps the students with their academics. It encourages students to keep their grades up and stay up to date with school events. My sister was a part of the National Honors Society and has encouraged me to join as many clubs as I can. My history of community service includes mission trips, food drives, and other activities for Swift Creek Presbyterian Church. The two mission trips I’ve
Scholarship, leadership, character and service are all characteristics found in a National Honor Society member. I believe that I possess all of these characteristics and should be given the honor of receiving this NHS scholarship.
I am tremendously honored to be a candidate for the National Honor Society. I have seen such sincere values in many of my peers who have been inducted in the last years, and am thrilled to have a chance to join them. The values NHS represents match so closely with my own. One of the most important characteristics NHS symbolizes is leadership. Practically my whole life I have worked towards becoming a strong leader. Ten years ago when I first entered cub scouts, I was shy and absolutely terrified of public speaking or leading anyone. However, over the years many leadership opportunities were presented to me, and I began to improve.
As a National Honors Society student one of the four qualities we are to exhibit is service. I exhibit the quality of service by taking out time to go over and beyond the norm to help others, and the community. I have been helping the community and others ever since I was a child. Being an active member at my church, I remember in my elementary years helping feed the homeless at the City Union Mission. My time spent at the City Union Mission impacted me till this day, and now I prepare meals after church for the men that come to worship service. As a Christian it is important to show humility, and to not take pride in myself. I am taught to not be selfish, hateful, or ungrateful, I use what I am taught by my family, the Bible, church, and
National Honor Society is a highly looked upon club that helps around the community as well as focusing on how important education is. I believe that NHS is a good fit for I feel that my values align closely with that of the clubs. Over the summer I volunteered at Stormont twice a week for four hours and I enjoyed it. There is nothing quite like the feeling of knowing that what you are doing is making a difference, no matter how small it is. Academics are also a significant part of my life because I know that one’s future and future career are dependent on the habits that are started in high school. Turning work in on time is getting me into the routine of getting something in by a deadline and showing up every day on time is just like showing
