As I followed the other firefighters, captain said, "No Kennedy, you have to stay here." At first, I was enraged at him for saying that to me, but if he didn't make me stay, I would've died that day. All 87 of the NYFD firefighters went inside that building, and never came out. Who would be so cruel to do this, I thought. Suddenly, the news reporters stated, "4 planes have been hijacked by Arabs, and they have been planning to crash them into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and The White House.

September 11, 2001 is a day that shook the United States to its core. Millions of Americans felt the pain, the loss, and the anger that came with the attack on their nation. It was a day of mourning, and when it comes to days of mourning it is difficult putting one’s pain into words. However, Leonard Pitts Jr. was able to move past the emotion. He put into his words, not only his own feelings, but the feelings of an entire nation. Pitts conveys the emotion felt after the terror attacks in his essay “Sept. 12, 2001: We’ll go forward from this moment” through his mournful, angry, and righteous tone.
Thomas seems to have a gift in his storytelling, they may seem like crazy stories he tells over and over but his stories may carry some kind of meaning. “We are all given one thing by which our lives are measured, one determination. Mine are the stories which can change or not change the world.” (Alexie P. 518) His stories about Victor’s father are why he went out of his way to help Victor. It took Victor a trip to Phoenix to see that Thomas was there for a reason, to help him because they were cousins.
Ed Thomas did anything he could help the town out. On some Sundays, he’d fill in for the pastor if they were not able to preach. He gave newborn boys “FUTURE FALCONS” certificates. “This is it”, Will said softly as the he is in tower was collapsing. The jet fuel in an inferno about 20 feet away, scorching the concrete. There are dismembered limbs, scorched around him. For Mike Cross, September 11 was a different story. He started out his day by going to work for Planning Systems Incorporated in Stephenville until he heard about “a plane that crashed into a tower, you didn’t know it was a terrorist attack.” Mike’s office had an irregular approach to the situation, nobody made a big deal about it. Nobody went home. “It seemed like a far off distant place of New York.” Before 9/11, “Terrorism wasn’t in the vocabulary.” After the attack, nothing went back to the way it was before. “Everything was looked through the lens of terrorism.” The trust between fellow men and coworkers was gone, lost in the past. “Everyone was viewed as suspicious… and

The event that happened on September 11, 2001, is very memorable. Many innocent people died while they were working in a “safe place.” It is amazing how your son as young as he was when this happen he still remembers. This was very shocking for him because he was young and young children tend to live a happy and joyful life so when he found about the Twin Towers it might have been his first unpleasant news. Also, he was able to see the building which the image he is probably also to view in his mind. It is amazing how much flashbulb memory can go back to many years when a surprising event or situation occurred.
