On the day before the interview I spent time preparing and focusing on how I would begin the process. I received the list of questions from the SCROC representative that I was likely to ask and made sure I rehearsed the answers so that I could be precise in my responses that I would give back to the students.
On the morning of the interview I dressed in business attire being very professional. I look for, when people see you as a qualified individual they treat you as such. I wanted, to give these students the total real life experience.
I first, had to do my 8 hour shift at the Inglewood Unified School District where I work as an Executive Secretary to the Chief Academic Officer. I really wanted my day to end quickly, as I was excited

It was both relieving and reassuring to hear how the students were responding to the interview. This given opportunity for learning has helped me to help them and to also help myself. It felt like a real-life interview where I could potentially be months or years from now, walking through these steps of why and how people explore what exactly makes them capable and confident enough to interview.
Doing so helped me to fully realize the importance of classroom-assignments in the role of analyzing an interpreting situation. I think, like many students, this experience has highlighted my overall interviewing skills.
I did realize there were things that I could have improved on, which were the questions students asked me in the end. I would improve preparing myself with scenarios that would help me to have a more precise answer and to able to show my strengths where I feel confident and comfortable. Also, in determining a few things, I would like to avoid using the verbal pauses such as “um” and “uh”. I will learn to take deep breaths and answer the questions accurately without showing any signs of weakness or
could I do better next time, how did I feel, were the students engaged, was I confident, did I have
Even though it was just a project in class, I still took it serious. I chose the job description as a bartender, so I took that role of trying to get hired for that job. My two interviewers was Matt and Cory. We did go last and I thought it was going to be an easy going process that I did noticed that everyone did go through.
Throughout this project I learned how to properly write a resume, cover letter, and job application. I learned key interviewing skills by observing my classmates perform good and bad interviews. Mr. Edwards enforced the proper dress code by making students conduct interviews in formal attire. Ultimately, the skills that I have gained during this assignment will assist me to earn a high paying job in the future.
Also, there were some difficulties that came about during my speech, one of those difficulties being inadequate direct eye contact. During the length of the speech there were not many time where I looked up and talked directly to my classmates. Something I could have done better to improve this would be to practice even more to ensure that I wouldn’t need to look at my notecards and slides as often. I also could have practiced when to look up and have a successful glance at my audience to have improved eye contact.
In the beginning of the interview I was very nerve in doing this because I haven’t done something like this before. I didn’t know what to expect
Throughout this semester this class has allowed me the privilege to get to know people who I would have never talked to on a personal level while also having the chance to advance my interviewing skills while getting to know them. Not only did these interviews and experiences display my strengths such as being able to adapt to certain situations but even more importantly it helped show me my weaknesses. After one interview and the next, I had to learn what role I had to play as within each interview I had to adapt to find my specific role as it varied from one to the next. Having the opportunity to interview a handful of people from the beginning of this semester to now has also taught me that the person you are interviewing can have a tremendous effect on if the interview goes successfully or not for reasons that I will elaborate on further in my paper. Lastly, one of the greatest lessons I learned about while interviewing people would be how to properly prepare to make sure the interview itself go as smoothly as possible. All of these factors have helped me grow in becoming a better interviewer and have helped me grow as a person.
I wanted to make sure that I covered a broad area of topics with the questions I asked so as to not make the interview seem too serious. Listed below are the questions.
In my interview my questions were direct due to the fact that they stayed on track and they didn’t get off topic. I chose the field of welding, so I interviewed a welding inspector. A welding inspector is higher than a welder. They check the welders work. For instance, they check the blueprints or they check the welding that is done. The questions I requested were only about his job. They were focused on the welding inspector job. The questions didn’t reflect or end up talking about the welders and there jobs.
I started my day by attending a bed unit meeting. After returning to the department, I assisted my site coordinator by sorting and organizing papers then placing them into a binder. Later, using Microsoft word and excel I created an employee performance questions and tracker. Lastly, I attended a Rad Onc meeting.
In beginning of class when I learned that we would be doing interviews I was dreading it. I have done interviews before and it felt the same as giving a presentation in front of the entire class. I had no real knowledge of what the proper way to hold an interview was let alone as a social worker. I know I wasn’t going to be given real interviews and I would be doing the interviews along with my group made up of fellow classmates but they felt as real as they could get. But gradually over the sessions it became easier and I felt more confident about how to conduct the interview. Having the practice even mock interviews became a great way for me to learn how to have an interview and make sure I know what I am doing. Which is a
My preparation for the interview, started with deciding what I wanted to learn about jobs in social work profession. Then, I wrote possible questions I would ask and laid out enough questions to have about 30 minutes of an interview. However, my interview went close to an hour. I did do the preparing skills taught in class. For primary planning and recording, I set goals for myself, to get all my questions answered and ask some that may not be ones I have prepared earlier. I prepared questions before the interview, I did some preparatory exploring by looking up the
If I had a chance to redo my speech, I would try to fix these mistakes. I would talk a little bit louder; I would practice in front of a family member before giving my speech to the class so that I would be less nervous and not forget so much of my speech; I would add pictures to my powerpoint or have another visual aid to make my speech more interesting and grab the audience’s attention. All of the things I would change are mainly small things. Even though my speech could have better, it was effective in my opinion, and that is the most important
After nine minutes the timer went off and I allowed the student to finish what she was saying, I thanked her for her time and summarised our discussion based on what was said during the interview. Before ending the interview I informed the student she could talk to me again if required.
Preview Main Points: Throughout the interviewing process, I was able to gain insight into my career goals, the role of communication in education, and my own communication skills.
When I think of the word interview I think of it as a series of questions asked from one person to another to seek information. In my previous assessment we were asked to interview a fellow peer, on their personal experience of QIBT so far this year. We were not given any question, but made to think of our own. As we were interviewing our peer another peer was marking us on our overall ability to interview. This piece of reflective writing will be an explanation of what I thought my personal strengths and weaknesses were throughout my interview.
