As leadership is ability to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute towards the effectiveness and success of the organizations of which they are members. Leaders use influence to motivate followers and arrange the work environment so they do the job more effectively. To start with transformational leader, transformational leadership is a leadership perspective that explains how leaders change teams or organizations by creating, communicating, modelling a shared vision for the team or organization, and inspiring employees to strive for that vision. This is a process where leaders and their followers raise one another to higher levels of morality and motivation. Transformational leadership is a model of integrity and fairness. It encourages others and gets people to look beyond their self-interest. The most significant of transformational leaders is to inspire great loyalty and trust in their followers. They have high expectations and inspire their people to reach their goals, particularly change the organization to fit environment. There are four key elements of transformational leadership, including build commitment to the vision, model the vision, develop a strategic vision, and communicate the vision. At first, build commitment to the vision by communicating and modelling the vision and through employee involvement in shaping the shared vision. As I take a moment to reflect on my time here, I have learned that I have traits of a Transformational Leader but that I also have room for improvement. I have highlighted areas in where I felt I needed the most improvement to become the Transformational Leader that I aspire to be. For the next three to five years, I plan to implement these changes to improve the way that I utilize the Elements of Adaptability, The Who, Stakes and Situation, Impact on Work Center Climate, and Ethical Behavior concepts. Understanding and effectively implementing these changes will make me a better leader for my subordinates, peers, and supervisors.
As Northouse (2015) explained, transformational leadership is a process that can change and transform the emotions, values, ethics, standard, and long term goals of the people. It also involves transforming followers to accomplish more than what is expected of them. The four factors that are closely associated with transformational leadership includes being an idealized influence or charisma leaders who act as strong role models, have a high standard of moral and ethical conduct, and deeply respected by his or her followers. A leader who can inspire and motivate their followers to be part of a shared vision of the organization. A leader who can also stimulate followers to become more creative and innovative, and provide the necessary coaches and advice to the followers (p.167).

After studying and learning from the different theories of Leadership, I found Transformational Leadership the best theory to identify with. Before going further with this theory, I want to state the most accurate Leadership definition for me. Leadership is a development of social influence and an exchange of values, behaviors, and power delegation between leaders and followers, where leaders maximizes efforts of the followers to achieve a collective goal (Kruse, 2013). Moreover, Scholars has divided leadership into different areas, such as Trait Approach, Skill Approach, Situational Approach, Transformational-Transactional, to name a few (COLLINSON & TOURISH, 2015). The ability to transform an organization successfully requires a different set of attitudes and skills. Transformational leadership is an approach where a leader utilizes inspiration, charisma, individualized attention, and intellectual stimulation with their employees (Iachini, Cross, & Freedman, 2015, p. 651). There are many differences among the leadership theories. According to Schreuder et al. (2012) "Well established theories of transactional and transformational leadership have been criticized for not including the situational context" (p. 429). While transformational leadership is extremely motivational and follower-focused, transformational leaders lack the focus of assessing situations and altering their style to match it. Situational leaders, however, are adept in assessing the situation and understanding the need for adaptation of different styles to be most effective. Charismatic leadership is very similar to transformational leadership. Charismatic leaders are very connected to their followers, such as situational and transformational leaders, and charismatic leaders have followers that are extremely emotionally involved and typically do not question the vision of the leader (Northouse, 2013). Transformational leaders may have followers that do not agree with the vision they created and can challenge it. Charismatic and transformational leadership both encourage their teams to focus on internal benefits, as opposed to the need to receive things externally (Northouse, 2013). I have been requested to lead a Task Force to include myself and hospital staff, community leaders, and law enforcement. With the recent death of two intoxicated inmates and jail overcrowding, law enforcement are now giving arrestees an option of being transported to our local emergency room or to be taken to jail. Prior to the two inmates’ death, our hospital’s emergency room has not been involved with the issue of overcrowding jail cells. With this new implementation, our hospital and staff members have expressed concerns that we would like addressed. To resolve this conflict, I propose that we identify and analyze the underlying factors that have caused the change, for each of us to offer ideas to modify and change the current situation,

There are many different styles of leadership that correspond with different tasks. From transformational leadership to laissez-faire leadership, there are various styles throughout the continuum. A transformational leader is one of the best, more successful leadership style. When going down the continuum, the leadership styles only become less effective. Everyone also falls in distinctive categories when it comes to leading others. The leadership style that is displayed depends on the person leading and those who are being led along with the task.
