My research paper is on Truck drivers around the world and exactly what their job is and what they do. I’ve chosen this career because it’s something that runs in the family and I feel connected with it. My grandpa, step-dad, uncle, and brother have gone into some type of truck driving career. This is my thesis statement, You don’t have to make money to necessarily be happy. Truck drivers don’t get paid a whole lot but it’s enough and you get to basically travel the countryside. Truck Drivers usually go long distances to transport loads where they need to go. Truck driver typically get up and start running their routes at the crack of dawn. Truckers are required to check over their rigs for inspection purposes and follow all laws of the road. They usually work long hours on the road, it helps to keep the truck and everything else clean (Summary). The requirements for a starting out truck driving job is that you have your CDL for you to be able to drive a rig. For people to get their CDL, they need to take a CDL course that allows you to learn about truck driving and take a written test. If you pass the test, you move on to the next test which is you driving a semi rig and moving around obstacles in order to get your licenses. I have researched Fox Valley Technical College and the tuition of the course is $1,200 including books. For the tuition be so low, you are not eligible to receive financial aid going through this course. This course outline last for 3-4 weeks. (CDL Straight Truck). The second school that I did research on is North Central Tech College. They offer a four week course that runs for three hours everyday and the tuition for this school is $2,200 and that’s including books and supplies. This course at this tech school also is not eligible for financial aid ( Truck Driving.
