Temperature influences the distribution of plants and this is another abiotic factor. In the Lions club tower I could feel the difference in temperature. Bottom at being cold and moist whereas the top is warm and dry. This is shown clearly on the average table. Temperatures such as snow or frost determines the distribution of plants as most plants cannot prevent freezing because of their tissues and this abiotic factor affects the plantae group. Other effects that could cause an establishment to particular plants due to temperature is the gemination of biennial plants, and this is during spring or summer known as vernalization. This is the cooling of seed in order to quickly adapt to the environment and the abiotic factors. As of the forest
1893 was a big time for America. There were social events that would rock the way the world functioned. There was Tchaikovsky, conducting his first piece, “Pathetique”, and Daniel Williams, who was performing the world’s first successful open heart surgery, without anesthesia amazingly, but the icing on top of all that cake was The World's Columbian Exposition, also known as the Chicago World’s Fair. There were new foods, musical pieces, technologies, and possibly the “invention” of the theme park.
Chicago is one of the most beautiful cities in the USA . Located on the shore of the calm blue lake called Michigan lake . And known for towering skyscrapers which give a breathtaking view of this wonderful city, when I see the skyscrapers, it looks mysterious giant buildings above the cloud, those buildings led by Willis tower, a massive dark building.
In the article, “Occupy Chicago 3 years later; activists’ passion still burns” is not bias and is a credible site because she has two statements from two different professors from different universities, she gives the location and what happened and also when Occupy started. Soon after Occupy Chicago was organized three years ago, at least 2,000 of its members assembled in Grant Park during a noisy protest. More than a hundred were arrested. But the scene was far different earlier this week when the group marked its anniversary. Standing outside the bustling Chicago Board of Trade, a symbol of American capitalism, a handful of Occupy Chicago members quietly chatted and held signs. It looked like a reunion of old friends. For them, the anniversary
My minor insight is New York City as the financial capital of the world. New York’s thriving economy is one of the main reasons that it is a global metropolis. Not only is NYC an economic capital, but it is also a cultural capital of both the United States, and the world. NYC is made up of millions of immigrants (about 36% of the total population) who have been able to assimilate into the American lifestyle, and act as a resource for the growth of our economy. NYC’s diversity has benefited our city by producing talented, hard-working citizens, which can provide an example for many other cities around the globe. New York’s cultural identity has helped shape our city, by allowing
The Cosmopolitan opened its doors to the public in December of 2010, and continues to open its heart and share its vision with those lucky individuals who choose to stay there. Traditionally, Las Vegas casinos focus on their gaming, using their hotels’ other amenities to draw people in. The Cosmopolitan has chosen a different path, a path that has lead them to numerous awards, and in 2013 was rated “The Best Hotel in the World” by Gogobot. Currently owned by the Blackstone Group, The Cosmopolitan was never meant to be a casino, but a high-end condominium-hotel project. As funding dwindled, a new vison and company took over and transformed these condominiums into a luxurious hotel and resort. The Cosmopolitan is one of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection,
The Carnegie Building at Penn State has a deep and rich history. It was constructed in 1904 due to a $150,000 donation from Andrew Carnegie, a member of the Penn State Board of Trustees. The Carnegie Building has held various functions over the years, such as being the home to the school’s first library. After a renovation in 1940 and the moving of the library to the current location, the building became the office and rehearsal space for the music department. The Penn State Marching Blue Band was initially established because of another generous gift on behalf of Carnegie. The Daily Collegian, the school newspaper, housed its headquarters in the building from 1972 to December of 1989 before moving downtown to the
As the triumphant arc of George Washington stands proudly in the center of the park it is surrounded by a history of death. One of the surrounding buildings now housing New York University students was once the stage of a tragic fire, the fountain in which the children are playing in lays over mass graves and the large proud elm tree at the northeast corner of the park was once the final destination of those condemned to die. This history is one of sadness but the city of New York and the park itself have been able to overcome this history and become the laugh filled recreation area it is today.
The name of city "Chicago" is came from Native American word "Shikaakwa" means "wild onion.

Times Square is one if not the most visited commercial intersection in the world. You won't see it not pack of locals going different ways and tourist taking selfies all over the square. The fact that it is in the midtown Manhattan section of New York City and just near Broadway and Seventh Avenue makes it more appealing. It is also a hub of the Entertainment Industry and The Broadway Theater District, so expect to bump into famous personalities. Other establishments you should look out for are International Center of Photography, Broadway, Macy's, Rockefeller Center, Minskoff Theater and more. Choose from our list of hotels and vacation rentals near Times Square below:
Some other inexpensive attractions in Chicago are the different museums and exhibits scattered around the downtown area.
This field research project is on the accessibility of Brooklyn train stations for non-ambulatory individuals. I frequently ride the subways to travel to Manhattan and the stations I have come across in the past such as 42nd street Time Square, 34th street Herald Square, and 14th street Union Square all appeared to be accessible to disabled people who use wheelchairs. I wanted to explore four train station in Brooklyn both busy and non-busy stations to see how accessible they are.
The London Tower is a magnificent work of architecture that has lasted hundreds of years. From somewhat humble beginnings as a mere base of operations to keep the locals in check, it expanded to the most secure place in London, housing the Crown Jewels and important documents of state.
The 102 story building towering over Midtown Manhattan in New York City is the Empire State Building. Constructed in 1931 and standing at 1,250 feet, the Empire State Building stood as the tallest building for almost 40 years until it was surpassed by the Twin Towers in 1970. The buildings plan changed 16 times during the planning and construction process and was still completed in a year and 45 days.
