Trump's Utterance Analysis

First looking at President Bush’s speech, the overall situation being shared throughout this piece of work is that the incident of 9/11 was a devastating tragedy and we should always remember it as a reason for why we should continue to stay strong and surpass the limit. Although Bush never did say all this, but he reflected the idea in we should never feel at complete sorrow whenever we remember this incident, but instead, feel the need to improve and advance to prevent this act of terrorism. It is never a wise choice to sorrow over a problem and leave it untouched. Ever since the incident of 9/11, the United States of America has excelled and advanced ever since in order to prevent future terror-influenced acts.

When the twin towers were destroyed in New York City by the terrorist group led by Osama Bin Laden, a Country filled with panic, sadness, and anger was left behind. Thousands of innocent civilians were killed, and the families of the fallen suffered greatly. People demanded answers, and wanted justice. People also felt unsafe, and were unaware if it was reasonable to expect another attack. President George Walker Bush prepares a speech for congress to discuss the events that took place, and the plans that will take place because of these events. The objectives of the speech Bush was trying to accomplish were informing the nation what had happed on September 11th, he then noted that it was not Muslins to be blamed for the attack, the challenges that lie ahead, and our plan for the “War on Terror.” The President uses the canons of rhetoric to execute a speech that met his audience’s needs.

There are even more people engrossed in Trump's campaign as his contentious rhetoric is spreading and becoming exponentially obscene. His words foreshadow what he'd do if he were president. My teachers have said that they "don't care" if Trump becomes president because "he wouldn't have any power, thanks to Congress." Obviously, that's false, and as we all have seen, his divisive words have been significantly detrimental to unification in this country - and he's not even in charge. I can imagine how he'd undermine the liberties granted by this country from the start. Donald trump is a wedge in the coggs of progress. His inauguration proves that much. He masks divisiveness with a thin film of lies like a blanket draped over a bear. Throughout the their article “Donald Trump, Abortion Foe, Eyes ‘Punishment’ for Women, Then Recants” by Matt Flegenhiemer and Maggie Haberman analyzed Donald Trump recent comments the he made recently about his feelings about abortion. While I wasn’t surprised to hear this come out of Donald Trump mouth, I was slightly surprised of the reaction that came out of it. Especially from his opposing candidates and anti abortion settlements. I did find it interesting that his opposing candidates had something to say against it, even though all of the Republican candidates are strongly pro-life. So that does that even make a case? Not really.

Trump’s plan for winning has many parts, but for starters, he largely focused on reviving the lower and middle class’ hopes, spirits, and incomes. The author explained how Trump was under heavy criticism when he wrote “Trump came under heavy criticism when he attacked Khizr Khan, the father of U.S. Army captain Humayun Khan, who was killed in Iraq.” Not only did Trump attack Khizr he also insulted their religion, which caused anger throughout the country. Anderson judge’s president Trumps comments like he was wrong. He played several video clips and then after he stated reason why he thought Donald trump was wrong. Hannity on the other hand said the he thinks what happen was wrong but he did not seem like he was disagreeing with Trump so much he just basically blamed the press. He said that what Trump said was good enough for him but never good enough for the media. Andersons argument was based off of logos because he was not doing anything but stating straight facts, but I believe Hannitys argument was based off of pathos because of how he felt he basically expected everybody to feel the same way. In his SO CALLED outreach to African-Americans, he insulted the Black Community with his disrespectful rhetoric. Trump didn’t stop there. His bullying on twitter against women, a Gold Star Family, the FBI, and people who don’t agree with him had been relentless until his aides took away his twitter account the last few days before election day. Inauguration day marks a new beginning. Every four years, Americans officially welcome a new president. Each president has to address the plans, goals and ideas for the future. Therefore, the inaugural speech is meant to be an emotional and hopeful ceremony for all Americans. The inaugural speech sets the tone for the president’s first weeks in the white house. Ideally this speech will encourage those who voted to believe and trust that the right leader is in the office. On January 20, 2017 Donald Trump gave his inaugural speech and through the use of hyperboles, repetitions, and metaphors he aimed to unify the nation and give hope for the future.

The purpose of George Bush’s speech is to justify his future military actions and to unite the Americans by appealing to their emotions. Bush used a variety of emotive language and stylistic devices to express his concern over the incident for the audience.

Donald Trump recently gave a speech discussing rising Radical Islamic Terrorism, immigration from the Middle East, and a need for a rise in national security while Manchester, New Hampshire on June 13th 2016. He centers his whole speech around discussing how bad a President his opponent, Hillary Clinton, would be in difficult times. Trump graduated from the Wharton School of Finance in 1968 with a bachelor 's degree in economics, and has become a very successful businessman. He’s the Republican nominee for this upcoming presidential election, and is a very controversial candidate and person. He has come under fire for many of his views that he discusses in his June 13th speech. While Trump does make some agreeably points, he renders his speech ineffective because of his heavy reliance on Clinton’s opinion to form his own. If Trump were to become President, his stance on important issues would need to be reached with careful consideration, and not just based on doing the opposite of his opponents.

Donald Trump’s speech addressed to the United Nations General Assembly on September 19, 2017 was not effective. Despite the speech having a universal message that is hard to disagree with, you can tell exactly which parts of the speech were written by a speech writer, and which parts of the speech were written by Trump himself. This wouldn’t be an issue if Donald Trump’s inflections weren’t full of fallacies and unnecessary statistics. For example, in the third paragraph, President Trump tries to establish his Ethos by listing improvements in the United States since he took office. But many of these cherry-picked improvements have absolutely nothing to do with him being elected. They also have nothing to do with the general theme of the speech. This speech did have examples of effective rhetorical strategies. However, the bad far outweighs the good in this speech and takes away from the good message it originally had.

From the context of the speech, President Trump anticipated that the middle-class citizens of America would reason with him the most, being the targeting audience. The rest of the country, as well as other first-world nations, were intended to be the secondary audience. With this in mind, President Trump knows that he has already won the middle-class as a leader, now he aims to prove to these hard-working individuals that he will be everything they want in a president and more. The speech starts off by talking negatively towards the current situation in America, discussing issues like poverty and a failing education system. Trump makes sure to talk down on the current state of America so that his audience will feel more inclined to favor his choices that he promises to bring, which is what he then begins to talk about.
