“Trust takes years to build, seconds to break, and forever to repair. - Anonymous” If you have ever been stranded in isolation, left alone at the mercy of your own thoughts, then you too have suffered through a challenge that resulted from a lack of trust. It is imperative for humanity to have trust - for, without it, we would simply descend into insanity. In the short stories “On the Sidewalk Bleeding”, “The Tell-Tale Heart”, “The Landlady” and my personal life, individuals were tasked with uncovering the key-role that trust plays in overcoming challenges. All the more-while, suffering through varying degrees of unique hardships.
The text “On the Sidewalk Bleeding”, revealed a form of challenges resulting from a specific genre of trust,

For most individuals, trusting others is often times far more difficult than any of the previous forms involving trust. This is because of how fragile our trust is, and we are painfully aware of the thin line we walk upon. In some scenarios, people are simply too willing to trust, which is unfortunate, such as in the case of Billy Weaver; a town-hood boy who subjected himself to a terrible fate. For it was his own mindset, that continually failed to alert him of the perilous vibes emanating from his hostess (The Landlady). He was simply too willing to trust the old-lady, thus creating a web of challenges for Billy to face. In further support of this occurrence, we find out Billy was actually aware of his dire situation. This occurred when he uncovered the secret residing within the landlady’s pets - they were murdered and preserved, nevertheless, Billy denied the omen, and chose to remain present in the landlady’s trance, instead of simply walking away. Such examples are prime demonstrations of what may occur by your trust failing in those who surround you. After all, in each scenario, the protagonist directly chooses to put blind trust in the landlady by assuming she is innocent, evidently such efforts were not rewarding. Billy’s legacy captures the influence that trust has in our lives, and how our trust is not welcomed everywhere we assign it. Perhaps if Billy hadn’t blindly gifted his trust, then he would have lived on in the
Some people find it easy to give trust, but many people find it difficult to trust. For them trust
The concept of trust is an idea everyone toys with in their lives at one point. One may think that trust is based of moral values between a trusting relationship. But it can be more complex than many may think. Trust by definition is the “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something”(1.). To many, it is the bases of a relationship. People trust one another because they teach one another or they love one another. Whatever the case, trust is an essential piece to a relationship. But it’s Implied that both parties don’t take advantage of that trust. This idea is discussed in literature such as in the novel Indian Horse. Throughout Saul’s Journey in the novel Indian Horse he learns about trust by experiencing it as reality then as an illusion and finally as a choice he must make.
What is trust? The dictionary meaning of trust is a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. The second meaning is, confidence placed in a person by making that person the nominal owner of property to be held or used for the benefit of one or more others. But what can we really define as trust? In this paper, I will discuss how trust is used every day in different situations, how we deal with trust in various relationships, and how we as individuals practice trust within ourselves.
Trust is an incredible trait to have. Some may say that without trust the world wouldn’t go around. But what exactly is trust? Merriam-Webster defines trust as “ one in which confidence is placed”(“Trust”). Confidence is a whole big impact that goes along with the feeling of trust. Being a trustworthy person means that people can rely on you for things. Trust can lead to a lot of danger also. If trust is broken, There can be a lot of lack of communication because someone might not trust you with some things. Trust might not come as just vocally trust. When you are asked to do something a certain way, you are trusted you will get it done in that way. Trust is a very important thing in everyday life.
Trust.Honour. Both are imaginary traits that must be earned, yet both can be broken like shattered glass plates, nearly impossible to restore. Though individuals may attempt to mend the damages it won’t be as perfect as it was before. In the short story “On the Rainy River” Tim O’Brien suggests, individuals facing life changing decisions must decide whether to escape from their situation and risk the ridicule that will come their way but the certainty of safety is restored or, struggle to maintain the honour society has granted them.
Trust is one of many components of life and it is shown through our actions and how we carry ourselves. We as human beings learn to trust each other by the words we say to one another and the actions we show to others. There are many lessons we can learn through the short but powerful story by Langston Hughes “Thank You. Ma’am”. Throughout the story there are several lessons and traits that the reader can interpret such as thinking twice before you execute the plan that you had in mind, sympathy, charisma, and even giving second chances. But more importantly, there is one lesson that specifically plays a huge role in the story itself and in American culture today, and that is trust others. There are several ways these lessons and interpretations can be put into real life situations and how they can affect us today in real time.
Billy has lost a sense of love as death has faced him in the eyes once too many. Billy deals with his pain by turning to alcohol abuse, he cannot deal with his mourning, "Sometimes it's not as if they have died so much as that I myself have died and become a ghost." (43). From Dolores and Billy, the central theme is slowly revealed.
Billy did not act in a trustworthy manner. Billy recently arrived on Vere's ship. Vere was suspicious and unfamiliar with Billy, but he knew and trusted Claggart. Vere needed to be very
Trust is a valuable asset in which many people rely on everyday. Once trust is broken, it becomes difficult to move forward in life and trust new people.Individuals must be cautious in the ways trust will affect their life. In the novel Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts, the main characters often contemplate if there are other people going through the same traumatising moments as they are, and whether they would be considered trustworthy. These characters go through many times of struggle, confusion, and bravery in order to find out whether the path they travel on will lead them to victory, or traps they will regret falling into. Mason’s risky encounter with Twiggy, Aries’ questionable friendship with Daniel, and Clementine’s great trust in her mother are all ways in which involve the difficulty of trust.
Another large part of Melinda’s life is her journey on learning how to trust, and being able to know who is trustworthy. Some of the people that need your trust the most are the people you are around the most like your teachers, parents, family, and friends. A large part of trust
Billy learned that, “God will help those that help themselves” (Rawls 3.18). This revelation led Billy to figuring out that his parents were the wrong people to ask for the dogs, he should of asked god for the means of acquiring he dogs. Throughout the book Billy shows great determination and perseverance and his belief that, “God will help those that help themselves” (3.18) helped strengthen this value. It is also very interesting because Billy always asked God to help him acquire something or complete a task. This makes it look like he does not believe what his mother said (3.18).
Building trust takes time and effort up front. It takes deep commitment and follow-through. It pays off.
One of the more obvious and clear signs that Billy has gone insane is his claim to be have been kidnapped by extraterrestrial beings known as Tralfamadorians. Billy claims to have been taken by these beings and taken to Tralfamadore, where he spends eternity with Montana Wildhack, a famous “hollywood” actress. Also, from the film version of the story Wildhack’s image makes multiple appearances and every time Billy glances at her image he stares in awe. Taking this into consideration, it is important to note the irony- that he just happened to be kidnapped with his celebrity-crush by the Tralfamadorians. To further prove that Billy made up the story about the aliens, viewers must evaluate how he never mentions how he was captured, or how he managed to escape from Tralfamadore. Instead, Billy magically returns to Earth and then rambles on about the culture and philosophy shown on Tralfamadore. The way of life for the Tralfamadorians was stated by one of the beings which it said, “I am a Tralfamadorian, seeing all time as you might see a stretch of the
Having trust makes one fell safe and free of fear enough so that they can focus on other things.
Trust is a value that was very hard for me to learn. I was always afraid that someone was going to hurt me one way or another. My mother was always telling me that I should learn to trust others so that they could help me from time to time, but I never could do it. Eventually I finally learned to trust others a few years ago. I have realized that other people can do many things for you if you just trust in them. This helps me in the relationships I have with my friends. Trust doesn’t happen overnight, it takes time. I have learned that trusting certain people is worth the risk, and helps the relationships I have with them.
