I completed Try For Yourself 15.1. It covers the characteristic of mindfulness. I received a score of 5.06. The average score of 313 University of Rochester students was 3.72. The scale was from one to six, with higher numbers being associated with higher mindfulness. Consistent with how I have felt on all but one try for yourself assignments, I am not surprise to score high in mindfulness. I would have been able guess that I would score somewhere above the mean before examining the questions and scale. In the last try for yourself, I wrote about how I am an introvert. I feel that it also ties in with this as well. I have a tendency to sit back and observe more so than others. I would prefer to see everything and intervene when necessary rather than be the focus of attention the whole time. I see mindfulness and introversion as closely related. Me being an introvert tends to put me in situations where I am in a place to observe and have the time to analyze what I am seeing or feeling. I often think about my surroundings and myself. I feel that I can observe and interpret my surroundings and those around me with relative ease. I am typically very aware of the state I am in for any given time. It is rare that I have something going on with myself and either choose to ignore it or allow for it to slip my mind. I feel that this is advantageous in activities such as bodybuilding. I enjoy working out and dieting properly to maximize results. It takes a high level of mindfulness to be in-tune with the body and ensure that it is being pushed as hard as it can without going to far.
