(a) What is meant by the term innate intelligence? [2]

It is a form of intelligence that is said to be derived from decadence through heredity.

(b) Describe two factors that may influence a person’s level of intelligence. [4]

Diet, the intake of a proper balanced diet containing a variety of different foods is necessary for the physical development of an individual within a society. If an individual does not develop properly, he/she will not be able to perform at the same level as he/she could. As he/she won’t be able to perform at the same level there intelligence will be altered (usually in a negative manner). Educational opportunities, if a person comes from a fortunate background they might have the opportunity to pursue their education in private schools and higher education as the cost as a percentage of their total income will be lower than that of a person from an unfortunate background.

This can easily brought about by many factors such as how the questions on the actual test are formulated; this creates distorted results. The factor of Stress in an examination greatly changes the reflection of ability when a student takes an exam as the stress can cause the student to not answer questions in the way he/she usually would usually do. This skews the data and makes it less representative of the students overall ability.Examinations rely on memorization not skills and knowledge of a subject. This is easily seen in exams revolving around manual skills such as written practical examinations where a student might know what to do in real life but does not know how to express himself/herself on
