1. Of Carbado’s list of 41 heterosexual privileges, list five that resonated with you the most. Why?
Out of Carbado’s list, the five heterosexual privileges that resonated with me are:
-Medical service will never be denied to heterosexuals because they are heterosexuals
-A Black heterosexual couple would be welcomed as members of any Black Church
-Heterosexuals can introduce their spouses to colleagues and not worry about whether the decision will have a detrimental impact on their careers.
-Heterosexuals can prominently display their spouses' photographs at work without causing office gossip or hostility.
-Rarely, if ever, will a doctor, upon learning that her patient is heterosexual, inquire as to whether the patient has ever taken an AIDS test and if so, how recently.

As dominant group it is hard to relate and fully understand certain experiences however as heterosexuals we too turn a blind eye and discount these issues. The importance of a physician lies at the boundaries of life and death. I will never know what is to be denied medical service because of my orientation however it is inhumane to not offer up these types of services. The purpose of medical care is not to judge people, but to help treat people. I, as a heterosexual do not have to deal with the stigma of having AIDS held over my head. Being so privileged often de-sensitize others from comprehending challenges individuals face. Being a member of a church, and raised in a conservative household, the church can be unwelcoming when someone that is “different” comes in. I too have fallen short and conveyed the same reaction of judging an individual. As many religions base their fundamental beliefs of a God of kindness, love and peace, believers of those religions should express the same. Although the church does not affirm the beliefs of people, all

Maria montanelli is 34 years primary school teacher who is much like Nusrat mother and takes care of her 96 years old mother who has dementia. Dementia is memory loss and difficulties with cognitive development. Being a primary care for her mother Maria feels she not performing at her best ability because of her lack of sleep which occurs when she assists her mother to the toilet several times. The last patient I would like to mention is Alice Fernandez she is 74 years old who recently lost her husband who had lung cancer. She has been prescribed antidepressant tablet by her G.P but made her lethargic this means she's become slow and sluggish.

Our society has not fully accepted transgender as a societal norm, because of their gender identity and expressions are different to societal expectations of gender. Reporting of Injuries,Diseases and dangerous occurrences regulations of 1995 requires the reporting of work-related accidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences. The Act applies to all work related activities, but not to all work related incidents. Even though there are gay-friendly communities, GLBT individuals still have a fear of “coming out” to families and employees (Kim, 2009). There is a fear of being criticized, demoted, fired, being isolated regardless of what the law or policies may be in place.

Homosexuality is hotly debated within the United States of America when it comes to the idea of same sex-marriage. Society cannot seem to agree about whether it should be made legal or not. The views on this topic have been shaped by religion, by the 1980’s AIDS period, and by so much more. Throughout the time homosexuals fought for their rights, had to go through life wondering if their friends would survive, to bring us to today’s reality where even social media gives every individual the opportunity to pick their pronouns and their sexuality to be displayed on their profile.
