United 93 is a 2006 film written and directed by Paul Greengrass. It is about the Flight 93 which is hijacked on September 11, 2001. The flight is supposed to fly from Newark, New Jersey to San Francisco, California. However, during the journey, four terrorists hijack the plane. Nevertheless, in Charlie Victor Romeo there are six planes accidents. What’s more, in United 93 the plane which crashes at last is due to being hijacked by terrorists; however, in Charlie Victor Romeo six planes have different reasons for their accidents. The crew of the first plane American Airlines Flight 1572 in Charlie Victor Romeo incorrectly set the altimeter making the plane fly lower than they expect. This lead to them crashing into trees. The third plane Aeroperú Airlines Flight 603 fails to remove the tape which the maintenance crew have taped over the static ports. This results in the flight instruments failing while the plane is flying over the ocean. Then, the fourth plane United States Air Force Yukla 27 crashes above a low hill because of hundred of geese on the runway. In addition, the passengers in United 93 are all killed by the crash in the end. Whereas, in Charlie Victor Romeo, the Japan Airlines Flight 123 and the United Airlines Flight 232 still have survivors. The American Airlines Flight 1572 finally lands with no
“I'm confident air travel is still the safest method of transportation.” Said Chad Elwood pilot for southwest airline.
The film that I watched for my history report was United 93. United 93 focuses on the historical event of 9/11. On September 11th, 2001 was a day where the U.S was under a terrorist attack by Al Qaeda. The terrorists took charge and hijacked four passenger planes. Two of which went into the World Trade Center, bringing both towers down. Another plunging into the Pentagon in Washington D.C. United 93 focuses on the plane that didn’t reach its target. Their goal was to hit the White House. The film starts off with four Muslims praying and getting ready for the airport. They soon attack and hijack the plane killing both the pilot and the co-pilot, a flight attendant, and a few passengers. The character Ziad Jarrah (hijacker pilot) is the most
Explain in your own words how the threat, the attack and the response to the September 11, 2001 attack moved American policing into the era of Homeland Security
The title of "Fahrenheit 9/11" is a play on the title of the famous Ray Bradbury novel, "Fahrenheit 451" in which society has been transformed into an authoritarian, repressive regime, in which subversive ideas are crimes and books are burned. In the book, a lonely protagonist is awakened to this reality and joins the struggle to keep underground dissidence alive.
Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy about lovers who end up killing themselves because they think that they cannot be together. Many people contributed to bringing about the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Some should be pardoned and some punished, but I think that the tragic deaths were caused mainly by fate.
bin Laden won the war by creating fear in America and, by making America be hated by middle east countries.

All leaving and entering Boston. The two other planes involved in the 9/11 terrorist attacks had slightly different routes. The first, an American Airlines Boeing 767-222 left the airport in Washington D.C., headed for Los Angeles. Once hijacked, the attackers steered the plane towards the Pentagon where they slammed into the west side of the building, workplace to twenty four thousand people (Schmemann). After learning about the other attacks, passengers on the fourth plane, United Airlines Boeing 767-222, Flight 93, decided to take matter into their own hands. Fighting back, the passengers were able to steer the plane from its original target, Washington D.C., and crashed into a field in Pennsylvania, killing everyone
The attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001 were the direct result of the failure of US agencies, ranging from the White House to airport security, to recognize vulnerabilities present in the various symptoms. The reason why these vulnerabilities were not acknowledged and repaired is that these various agencies were trapped in a cognitive dissonance cycle of thinking. After the Cold War, terrorism was seen as a regional problem (9/11 Commission, 92). The majority of terrorist groups were either groups sponsored by governments or militants trying to create governments (i.e. Palestine Liberation Organization). As a result, the tactics used for fighting terrorism were centralized mostly in the Middle East and were restricted to
while some may argue the bombs were unnecessary, they provided the best outcome with the least amount of casualties and money and time wasted for both the United States of America and Japan. Japan 's surrender was inevitable. The time until the would surrender and how many more lives would be lost to accomplish it was unknown.
On March 16, 1968, over 300 unarmed civilians were killed in South Vietnam during an indiscriminate, mass murder event known as the My Lai Massacre. Conducted by a unit of the United States Army, the My Lai Massacre ranked one of most appalling atrocities carried out by US forces in an already savage and violent war. All victims involved were unarmed civilians, many of which were women, children, and the elderly. Victims were raped, tortured and beaten, even mutilated before being killed. The massacre was forever seared into the hearts and minds of the American people as the day “the American spirit died.”
On February 26, 1993 at 12:18 pm in New York City, the first call was received at the Central Office from a street alarm box at the corner of West and Liberty Streets. The call was reporting a possible transformer vault (or manhole) explosion on West Street near the World Trade Center. As manhole explosions are common in wet whether, there was no hint of a major catastrophe until the phones never ceased to ring after aid had arrived to the site. Numerous phone calls continued, now reporting smoke in the towers of the Trade Center as far up as the 33rd floor within the first three minutes of the explosion (http://members.aol.com/fd347/wtc.htm). The ceiling then collapsed in the train station, which
United 93 is a film that depicts the events of September 11, 2001, when four planes were hijacked by terrorists. The film specifically focuses on the flight, United 93, and how the passengers defended themselves to keep the plane from crashing into the White House. The plane ended up crashing into a field in Pennsylvania, and no one survived, but their efforts helped save many more lives. At the time they had no idea that two planes had crashed into the Twin Towers and one had crashed into the Pentagon. The passengers didn’t even know where these hijackers were trying to crash, but they continued to resist and fight. President Bush then declared a War on Terrorism to find who was responsible and to prevent further attacks. Airports increased
In the middle 1960s, every male in America had to register for Selective Service Draft at age 18. He would then be eligible for the draft and could be inducted into the Army for a period of two years. If you were a college student, you could receive a deferment and would be able to finish college without the fear of being drafted. However, once finished with college, a students name would be put to the very top of the draft list and could be deployed at anytime. The anti-war movement was about young men being drafted and then sent into war that most Americans did not believe threatened the security of the US. The Vietnam War was America’s rebellious war, a war without popular support
In the 1950's, the United States had begun to send troops to Vietnam and during the following 25-year period, the ensuing war would create some of the strongest tensions in US history. Almost 3 million US men and women were sent thousands of miles to fight for what was a questionable cause. In total, it is estimated that over 2 million people on both sides were killed.
