Internship
I started my journey back in February 2016 at the OSU-Stillwater career fair. I went there with high expectations and faith to find an internship to start at career before graduating in the fall. I had a list of companies I wanted to get knowledge of but at the last minute I was stopped by a certain individual at a United Rentals booth. We shook hands and shared stories of career
My experience as an intern at 3M consisted of carrying out laboratory research to ensure the safety and durability of the large-scale manufacturing medicine filter, Zeta Plus™. This experience advanced my ability to collaborate, think ahead, apply what I have learned in Chemistry and Mathematics, and increase my expertise in computer software. My current position in Community Relations at Travelers entails for me to communicate with and manage volunteer opportunities for over 3,000 employees, in addition to connecting Travelers with non-profit partners, event planning, and serving as a liaison in Saint Paul for my remote manager and team in Hartford, Connecticut. This position enables me to not only exercise and expand my communication and technical skills, but also allows for me to learn about myself. And lastly, as a Resident Advisor at the University of Minnesota, I have been able to serve as an academic, social, and personal resource for forty first-year students. As an RA, communication and time management have been at the heart of my success. As a junior studying Marketing and Computer Science, my interests lie within the space of sales marketing, technology and international business, and I strongly believe that Morgan Stanley will allow for me to expand my knowledge in these areas. I sincerely hope to continue this learning process as an intern this coming
Throughout my college and professional career I have gained many diverse and valuable experiences that have helped prepare me for a career in
Considering the fact that I am not looking for a job in the St. Louis area I did not think the Career Fair would be very beneficial to me. However, I decided to take a chance and get all I could out of the fair and I honest believe I got more out of it than I expected. My only regret was that Scheffel Boyle was not there, because they are my top choice for where I want to start my career once I graduate with my MSA and I really wanted to talk to them.
I and my friend got an opportunity to work at the Spyglass Winery last summer. We had no idea that this wonderful internship experience will change our minds and we'll land in choosing our career as a recreation major (outdoor
My professional experiences thus far have enabled me to learn a great deal while reaching my
Similar to many young people, I dreamed of leaving town and creating a big name for myself. After venturing through undergraduate and graduate school, I gained my first real job at
In August of 2007 I decide to further my education and attend classes at the University of Phoenix. I was in customer service as a bartender and waitress and have three children. I had my children young but knew I had the potential to improve the quality of my life and apply personal experience in my field of interest. Since personal experience was not enough, I knew I had to get the credentials to pay forward.
All of this led her to join the university as a career coach in summer 2008. Today, she supports the postgraduation pursuits of MBA candidates-lending her mentoring style along the way.
However, I wanted a well paid job as a Business Manager in one of the large research departments at the University of Maryland. This was my dream job. However, a major challenge for me trying to obtain my dream job was that I didn't have yet a College Degree in Business Administration or any related area. I was pursuing a College Degree in Business Administration but I still had many years left to complete my degree. Again, as usual, my beloved mentor Joao came to my rescue. He taught me that even though I did not have a College Degree yet there were unconventional but very effective ways to land my dream job. He told me to apply for jobs before they are ever listed. Thus, I needed to connect with people from all walks of life at University of Maryland to learn about these hidden opportunities. Then, as I developed mastery in business administration and the specific business processes standardized at University of Maryland I would continue to create job opportunities even though I did not have yet a College Degree. He insisted that these large departments will always need people who can deliver strong results. I started to get interviews at the large research departments and I insisted in my interviews, as Joao advised, that I was willing to learn and I was not afraid to constantly educate myself. This way, I landed my dream job as a Business Manager at the Astronomy Department in spite of not having a College Business Degree yet. I have been there for almost 10
All of a sudden, I was free of the many social constraints of the East Coast and could fashion my life in the way I saw fit. Within nine months, I had a new house, wife, job, car, and child on the way. I refer to it as my early career epiphany. Westinghouse had been full of structure and I could see my career unfolding slowly before me, one agonizing preprogrammed promotion at a time. At Fairchild my progress was limited only by my talents and ability to work hard. It was a complete meritocracy. It was intimidating, but I survived, even if it was scary at

U-Haul Centers and Affiliates count on us to represent their location as if we are at the location. That does NOT mean we are expected to lie to customers. U-Haul Centers and Affiliates depend on us to assist their call flow so our job is to make sure we do that with professionalism, courtesy and integrity. We DO advise Agents to ensure the customer that they called the correct location. We DO NOT advise nor do we approve of any Agents directly lying to customers. We DO NOT tell our Agents to say that they are AT the location. A good response to someone who feels like you are being dishonest.
It was a pleasure to meet you this morning. Your story about sneaking a Chicago Deep Dish onto the floor during your internship with the Chicago Board of Trade was incredibly inspiring. I will be interning at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission this fall semester, so I think I will try to do the same. I’m partially second guessing my commitment to finance, as I have two more years left in my undergraduate career.

United Parcel Service (UPS) founded in 1907 is the largest transportation company and the largest air freight carrier in the world. In 1987 due to rapidly changing external environment UPS faced serious challenges to its long-established policies of on-the-job training and promotion from within. With the increase in competition UPS realized that it is lagging in computerization and it thought of seeking technical expertise which it could not get from within. The concerns they had are how to hire new talent, how to assimilate, and to what extent new people would conform to UPS culture.
