The United States Flag Liberty, justice and humanity are the three words that this nation is built around. While representing these eternal principles, the flag of the United States of America not only symbolizes the battles faced, but also the truths this country fights to upholds even to this day. On June 14, 1777, the flag of the United States was born in Philadelphia. Carrying fifty white stars in a field of blue along with thirteen alternating red and white stripes, the flag is more than just an object to identify the United States by. Each star represents one of the fifty different sovereign states, all brought together under the same nationalistic ideals. The red stripes showcase the courage and integrity of the men and women who built
When Betsy Ross sewed the last stitches of the first American flag she didn't realize that it would become a staple found in almost any household, workplace, or school. Over time, it has morphed into a universal symbol of freedom known to all. My flag stands for the pledge of allegiance that I say every morning at school. The flag flys to unite us as "One Nation under God".The stars stand for the sky I live under, to remind me that I live under one God. The thirteen stripes stand for the thirteen original colonies, from which my proud country was born. The red stripes represent the valor and bloodshed it took to stand up for this country. The white stripes stand for the new beginning when the Fathers of the Constitution took on the challenge
Explained by the author, Judy Bray Garrison, the opinion section of the Morning Call is begging the question in this type of fallacy by assuming everyone knows the American flag represents proper respect for the United States men and women who served our country in order to defend our freedom. There are different meanings by the way the flag is display known as the “flag code” that spells out the protocol to define how to demonstrate respect. Students in school should return to stating the pledge of allegiance to their flag and break down the sentences to learn the sacrifices made for which it stands. When children destroy a display of 250 flags while laughing at the sight, showing disrespect to those who took the time and money to purchase
The very first flag of the United States was called the Grand Union, and it was flown for about a year. Instead of stars in the left corner, there was the crosses on the British flag, and it still had the 13 stripes in honor of the colonies. The flag was probably made this way as the design is easy to make, being only stripes and a British flag. It is believed that this flag was flown in 1776 on New Year’s Eve on Prospect Hill in Charlestown by George Washington’s army.
Another representation that I have on the American flag is opportunity. We give opportunity to thoses who can't find it in their mother land or who is treated badly and need a better environment for their kids or themself. In America we give every one somewhat an equal opportunity. We give others a choice in life; America is so inspirational that other crountry copy our way of
From the Star-Spangled Banner, to the bald eagle, the US flag, and the White House, these are all symbols of America. Each one has its own special meaning, representing our country and its people. The Declaration of Independence was one of our first successful fights for our rights and freedom. Over the years our country has made many great accomplishments that we are so proud of. Of all the things that symbolizes our country, what do they mean to you?
The American Flag depicts a wide arrange of splendid hues with both inspirational and symbolic significance. The banner likewise has an atmosphere encompassing it, and if freedom can be exemplified, our american banner is the ideal representation. At whatever point I consider justice, equity, and freedom, I think about the United States Flag. It is the very definition and sole notion of what we, as people, ought to stand for, and every one of the qualities we ought to
The flag was first flown on August 3, 1777 the site of the present city of Rome, New York. It has emerged triumphantly from eight great National Conflicts. It flew at Saratog, Yorktown, Palo Alto, Gettysburge, Minala bay, Chateau-Thierry, and Iwo Jima. The American Flag bears witness to the development of our national boundaries, natural resources, and the structure of our civilization. (USA Citylink)
Calvin Coolidge once said, “We identify the flag with almost everything we hold dear on earth, peace, security, liberty, our family, our friends, our home. . .But when we look at our flag and behold it emblazoned with all our rights we must remember that it is equally a symbol of
Our Flag, the symbol of freedom for over 216, 000,000 citizens of our great land, and the banner under which countless millions have given their last measure of devotion in wars to protect our freedom, will never be forgotten. It is for us the living, in strength and unity, to love and respect our Flag. As we remember our Flag, we know that it represents the living country and it is a precious possession” (Flag Etiquette).
The american flag had many forms. In 1775 the american ships from england waters flew a “liberty tree” flag, it shows a green pine tree on a white background, with the words “appeal to heaven.” in 1776 may-betsy ross reportedly sewed the first american flag, with 6 white stripes, 7 red stripes, and 13 stars. In 1960 hawaii was named as a part of the US, the flag added a new star. The 51 star flag was created around 2011.
In July of 1776, the first American flag was born and from that day on, it has been given many important representations. The iconic symbol of America was first made to show independence and freedom from England. We wanted show that we were strong enough to be our own country and not be ruled over like a child. From there on, the flag has represented how we are different from every single country out there. We are nothing like many other countries; we have more opportunities for long lasting jobs, less rules and regulations on the greater thigh in life and, more importantly, freedom. The United States of America has many opportunities for anyone around the world to come and take advantage of. When a person of a different country looks at an
There are many fundamental principles that we, as loyal citizens of the United States of America, follow and abide by every single day. There is more significance in the flags that we place outside of our homes, inside of our classrooms, and on display on what seems like everywhere we turn. The striped red, white, and blue are more than an appealing pattern and color scheme to the eye. The flag and its symbolic features represent what essentially allows us to call our nation a free country. The importance of what the flag and the history it represents may not hold the same importance to all; nonetheless, patriotism is well-embraced, well-dignified, and well-respected.
Every country has icons that specify objects that represent beliefs, values, or tradition that make that country unique. As the United States of America has many such as, Statue of Liberty and the American Flag. Yasmin Sabina Khan shows in her book "Enlightening the World: The Creation of the Statue of Liberty” why the Statue of Liberty was built, how each part of the statue describes everything and how it represents U.S today. In “Capture The Flag: The Stars And Stripes In American History”, Scot M Guenter talks about how the American flag is seen everywhere and how the flag has remained strong throughout many incidents. In the Barbara Kingsolver essay “And Our Flag Was Still There”, she writes about the meaning of the American flag and how it represents our country in different ways. And at last, Dave Barry shows us in his “Red, White and Beer”, the strong effects that patriotism can have on the sales and advertising of products. All of these icons that we have in America today are representing America very well; therefore, there is no need of new icons to be erected.
The American flag- a symbol of our nation. A nation founded on God, Country, and freedom. The great mixing pot of the world. America shares culture. The white lines in our flag symbolizes the great pure innocence. The red symbolize strength and courage. The stars represent the high heavens and the divine goal to which man has been desirous of from time immemorial. The position the stripes lay is symbolic of the rays of light deriving from the sun
The American flag; our nation’s symbol that we as citizens have all come to maintain common relations when reflecting on our country. The iconic symbol prides with thirteen white and red stripes representing what was once our country’s thirteen colonies. There are fifty white stars placed upon a blue background representing all of our fifty states. The nation’s flag waves high in the sky or is pinned to people’s walls representing our nationalism and accomplishments. The colors of the flag can be easily manipulated from red, white, and blue to become multicolored. Stripes are changed to rainbow-like colors to represent a piece of our country that seems to be brushed under the rug most of the time. This alteration of rainbow colors on the flag represent a group of people who want to be seen as normal in our society, but are so often marginalized and ostracized. The alterations of colors that are done to the flag can be easily altered physically, but so hard to grasp mentally from those who think one-dimensionally. Why is that, if it is easy to alter things physically, should we not see a positive uproar when it comes to accepting new perceptions about same-sex marriage mentally?
