How can you describe the Heathers? According to Veronica Sawyer they are simply popular, beautiful, mythic bitches. But do they deserve to die? Heathers took me on an exciting journey with the seniors of Sherwood Ohio that challenge the ideas of homosexuality, promiscuousness, and most obviously suicide. I was lucky enough to experience this twice throughout the run of the show and it was the second time watching the show that I fell in love with the characters and saw the actor’s desire to share the story of these characters.
Initially I was excited to see so many classmates in a large production and witness the things we have been exploring during class resonate on to a larger stage. During both of the times that I attended the show I was disappointed in that it took almost all of the actors about two to three scenes to actually get to the place that they needed to be for the show. This was most apparent during the first time that watched the show. When the actors first entered the stage I could tell only a few of them had actually warmed up as much as they needed because I could barley understand the first couple of songs whenever only one person was singing due to lack of articulation and volume. This improved as the show

I had some damage after first week that I came to the show in that I was not impressed with the play. I had the behind the scenes knowledge that many of the actors were ill, and I also first attended the Sunday matinée, which I expected to be lower in energy than a night performance, but the energy was extremely low and the show tended to drag. During my next attendance I was so pleased to see my classmates have a high-energy performance that I was sad to see end. Overall, I was so proud of my peers that they were able to perform an amazing show and make adjustments throughout the run of the
On February 26th 2016, I went out with my friend to saw this event. It was the first time of my life to be in such production. I was not a fan of theaters. I thought they are boring. Now, my mind has changed because the play was amazing. So, on the next day,
The most successful aspect of the performance for me were the scene changes. I found that the rotation of the blackboard, center stage, where the actors were able to stoop beneath it in order to enter and exit the stage, was an effective touch to this
of the The director, Larry Raben excellently executed the performance. The actors put their full heart and soul into the characters, the play moves smoothly, and the costumes were more than I expected. Because of the acting, design, and lighting this performance must be seen.
Sadly when I arrived at the theater I was not even sure I would be able to focus on the show, for my mother who was meant to see this production with me yet was unable to. Due to unforeseeable circumstances that neither one of us could for see and so with all of this hanging over head I was really hoping to get a laugh from this play, which it did. This was not the first time that I had come to see a play at Boise Little Theater, but definitely this was the first time that I had done it on my own. Which was a tad
As I have seen some performances prior to this one, my expectations are kind of not that high. As the play was prepared and performed by a team of theater students, I just expected there will be basic elements a play should have. I also did expect some extraordinary performances from the main actors because I got that every time I attended the plays on campus. LMU actors and actresses / theater-majors tended to surprise me every single time I attended their plays. I know they will eventually act for a living but the fact that they could memorize pages of script, successfully get into character and act all at the same time still baffled me very much.
This was the first play or theatre performance that I have attended. I was unsure of what to expect, but I heard great things about this play. Furthermore, the first aspect of this production that caught my attention was the design of the set. The design gave the feeling of a run down urban neighborhood by making the outer parts of the stage look like an old brick building. The building looked like one you would find in a low-income area or projects. The scenery of the play set the stage for what type of production this would be. I especially liked the way they carefully chose not to place just any kind of props on the stage. The dusty
6. What technical areas did you notice? Make specific comments about the scenery, costumes, lighting, and sound. Did the technical aspects enhance or hinder the production? Would you do anything differently? I loved the scenery for this play from all the plays I have seen this year performed by Henrico High School. The backdrop for the Northern lights was simply stunning. It even a times it shows the twinkling of lights behind the backdrop, that provides the image of dazzling stars. The moving platforms even had the perfect representation of a modern house. It is safe to say, I wouldn’t change a thing about this
The opening performance of The Addams Family, which was the upper school musical of the year, was that night. The Addams Family was probably the most complex show that we members of stage crew had ever tackled? The show included 10 different eight-foot flats, a full-sized dining room table and chairs, three rolling platforms, and even a fully-operational torture device. Mr. Kupersmith, the play’s energetic technical director, hung the lights, designed the props, and was supposed to help us move set pieces on stage during the show. Now we had to do the musical without him because he had strep throat! I was a freshman at
I knew the actors could show their sense of comedy and wit from the first play and I was eager to see how they would carry out the dismal aspects this show. This production was a drastic change in the cast’s acting abilities, but they presented the production extraordinarily well. This was the first live production of the written story I have seen and I have faith that they did a superb job at depicting the insanity that Robert Louis
I believe that a lot of our performance went well. My group worked well as every aspect of the performance came together and worked seamlessly. The transitions were also successful as each performance was able to transition from one story to the next relatively easily. Our use of props, such as balloons and string helped us
This is because so much work must be put in before the show can even run. Especially with my position there was lots of waiting around, because there are other things that had to happen before I could do my job. Everyone must be patient with one another, because some crew positions needed more attention than others. With this being said, before this I never realised how much behind the scenes work is needed. Simply without the crew there cannot be a show. In the future, if I ever dance with the Ensemble or dance in any other show I will appreciate all the time and effort that the crew members put into the show. In the end, I think this experience went so smoothly because of the crew members. Everyone seemed to give their full effort, which made everything run nicely. Also, everyone was ready to help one another during levels and especially during the strike. All in all, this was a great experience that left me full of new knowledge that I can take away and use in my
On Monday the 19th of April my class and I had the pleasure of attending the dress rehearsal for the new play Successions by Michaela Di Cesare at Centaur Theatre. This play was directed by Tamara Brown and stared four very talented actors. I found this play to be enjoyable in terms of viewing, but frustrating in terms of story. It had left quite an impression on me, albeit somewhat negative. However I find that being left with a strong negative impression is better than not being affected by the play at all. As the purpose of plays are to stimulate a response from the audience.
Seeing my friends and other students having fun and making me feel like I was up on that stage with them. There were two specific characters that really stood out to me, these two characters stood out to me because, they were full of emotion and energy through the whole night for all the shows. My favourite characters were Corny Collins, and Amber Von Tussle. I think the rest of the cast could have used more energy and used their emotions more because, through most of the show some people showed no emotion at all and had a straight face. In the opening number of the play everybody had energy and was happy with emotions. I think that was the best energy in the whole show. However, I get it the lights on the stage are hot and by the end of the night you get exhausted because you are using up all your energy. You got to fight through it either by staying hydrated, eating, or taking a rest on a break you must get through. Performing is a very hard thing to do, and while you are working your butt off some people in the audience think it's easy. Until they try and do it and find out the challenges and how hard it is to do the things we
I went to the performance of, “Of Mice and Men” and words can not describe how incredible it was. You could tell how much effort was put by all into making this show the best. In the beginning I had no Idea what the play was even about, who the characters were, what was going to happen, it was all a surprise to me. I did know though that the cast was small and the stage is also not the biggest but I knew it was going to look incredible. I had expectations for the stage, but when I walked I saw that they surpassed them, like always of course. I had the privilege to see the show twice, once doing the show rehearsal because I was taking pictures for the newspaper, (watch out for those!) And the second time I went to the free show. SO basically I got the best of both
The actors were not only attention-grabbing and energetic, but they also made it a goal to involve the audience in most of the scenes they took part in. There were many times during the roughly two hours of the play where the characters came running up and down the aisles, interacting with certain people in the crowd, and making everyone watching feel like they were a part of the play themselves. No matter how small of an addition this is to the original, it gives the play an entirely new feel, and as mentioned previously, lets the viewers become a part of the play
