1.0 Introduction To design a graphic image, it is important to incorporate various kinds of visual elements to the particular image such as posters, banners, advertisements, billboards and so on in order to create an image which can represent a situation and at the same time deliver some key points or messages to viewer about situation. Each of these visual elements plays their own role in indicating some signs or delivering some implicit messages to the viewer. The types of visual elements used in graphic design are point, line, form and shape, movement, space, pattern and texture; these elements has been applied in advertisements, painting of pictures, packaging of manufactured products, book covering, gift wrappers and so on. One important aspect in creating any kind of slideshows is the clarity; if the elements are used according to the suitability of the background, foreground and words, then the viewers will be able to have a good clarity of the slides. The following topics in this discussion will explain more detail about the visual elements. 2.0 Types of Visual Elements in Graphic Images As we know that there are numerous types of visual elements in graphic design such as below:- 1. Point 2. Line 3. Shape 4. Space 5. Movement 6. Texture 2.1 Point A point which is also known as mark is one of the basic element in graphic design. This element is used in designing many kinds of images including digital images. It is used to create a focal point for a viewer; the focal point indicates the important part of an image. For example, when a person sees dotted marks on a blank paper, his or her mind will automatically provides the connections of the marks that form shapes or lines on the blank paper and when it does, this kind of phenomena is called grouping. 2.1.1 Reason of Point being used as a Visual Element There are reasons for using point in designing attracting and meaningful images. Point is used for emphasizing the important part of a picture and the part that is emphasized is known as a focal point. It draws attention of the viewer that makes him or her to observe the focal point. Figure 1 shows the bull’s eye
Line of Sight—one important kinds of implied line is a function of line of sigh, the direction the figures in a given composition are looking. Titian artwork together the three separate horizontal area of the piece; God the father above, the Virgin Mary in the middle and the Apostles below. The lines that are create are simple, interlocking, symmetrical triangles. The lines are to serve to unify the worlds of the divine and the mortal.
Over the past few decades, enhancements in the visual fields have greatly improved, giving weight on the importance of visual material in text. Something that is more visually stimulating can usually make a text more convincing or credible. The term “seeing is believing” proves this fact. As humans, we tend to believe something if we can actually see it, which is why Jay David Bolter has referred to this phenomenon of the changed role of text and graphics as the “visual culture” in his book Writing Space. “Mere words no longer seemed adequate; they had to share their space with images.” (Bolter, 69).

The reader is able to construct his or her thoughts by observing the small keys in each photo. Some of these keys are the use of color, setting, expression and focus in the scenery and objects around.
Distinctively visual texts aim to manipulate the way we explore and interpret the images we see, thus affecting the way we make interpretations of the experiences we encounter and allows us to embody newfound various perspectives of the world.
is the use of motifs. A motif is a recurring theme that is used throughout the
Diction, line structure, syntax, figurative language, and imagery. The theme is brought out by these five structures of writing. These five structures individually portray parts of the theme, but when they are all put together, they portray the theme in its entirety. These elements of structure give life to the theme and make that writing piece more alluring. Writers use these five elements of structure to create a sense of emotion and theme in their writing. Diction, figurative language, and syntax are used to bring the theme, society does not want others to see their weaknesses therefore they hide their true selves behind a “mask”, to life.
Image Analysis: An effective image employs specific techniques to relay its purpose. This image of 6 year old Alex Donley uses the following techniques to influence the reader or viewers perception of the chapter. Framing, layout, colour, symbols and focus are all crucial aspects of the image.
A series of experiments was performed on glass beads and natural clean dry sands under the objective of the current work of performing parametric studies. Therefore, new techniques and methods were utilized to predict the gradation of the natural cohesionless silica sands tested in addition to the conventional geotechnical laboratory experiments, which were carried out to predict the mechanical characteristics of such soils. Moreover, ideal laboratory simulations for the SPT were performed under several particular relative densities, loading conditions, and stress-strain controlled boundaries. Additionally, the obtained results from such series of experiments were stored in digital forms for further processing and analyses.
Art is the theme of art, this means that the main reason artist design different types of art works is to bring about the visual satisfaction. One of the major reason as to why artist paint, draw or design their works is to have something to have look at. Therefore, before a viewer analyses a piece of art, he or she has to look at it as the first and foremost
The School of Athens uses many distinct elements of art to form itself into what is seen today. First, there is the use of lines. More specifically, vertical lines used to form the arch ways of the background. This gives the painting a feeling of depth in an otherwise flat canvas. Second, Raphael used the element of shape to define the walls and people included in the artwork. Third, the use of three-dimensional space is shown through out the use of arches and distance.
“Chapter 8 The Principles of Design” from the book World of Art by Henry M. Sayre discloses a crucial aspect of art. In the chapter, it breaks down the four essential necessities in unifying a great masterpiece. The first is balance and explains the variations of balance: asymmetrical, symmetrical, and radial; in a composition it is important to have a balance, both color and items, to appease the viewer’s eyes. The next concept written was focal points. A focal point is the area the artist wants the viewer to look at and the rest of the painting, or piece should revolve around the focal item; however, in some cases, artists challenge the audience by purposely making a composition afocal and letting the their eyes wander endlessly.
Advertising has become one of the most powerful and effective tools that business uses to launch and brand products. Advertising is a form of communication used to persuade an audience to take some action with respect to products, ideas, or services. Everyday we are surrounded by advertisements, influencing us to make different purchases without our mind even realizing how much they really affect us. Advertising is available in many different mediums and communicated across many different forums. Of all of the forms of advertising, visual advertising has proven to be one of the most successful. Graphic designers have the ability to put subtle references and innuendos into your mind by utilizing different fonts, colors, and visual points
14. appropriate use of AV media (power point slides: contrasting colour, succinct points, appropriate background animation and sound that adds value)
The principles used in this design include figure/ground relationship, asymmetrical contrast and repetition. Out of all these principles, contrast and repetition stands out most. In this work, there is contrast and repetition in colors. Color changed as it has moved one triangle to another. In addition, rhythm and repetition played important part in this design because the geometric shapes repeated more than once. Furthermore, there is also contrast in the size of the type and triangles. For instance, the title "The 2010 Shepley Bulfinch Summer Design Fellowship MMX" used bigger in size than other text. In this work, the figure/ground is well-balanced as well as positive and negative space. These triangles in primary colors and secondary colors are considered as figure and the white part in each rectangle considered as ground. The primary focal points are the triangle in red, blue and yellow. Then the secondary focal point is the triangle that colored in purple and light orange. At last, the tertiary focal point is the texts and the white background of the poster.
