Volleyball Vs. Softball
Home run! Spike! These are some very different words that mean very different things between softball volleyball. Not only are they different but they can be alike in smaller ways also. They both deal with balls, there both sports, they are both played in the same season. Their different in sizes, both uses different equipment, and are both played very differently.
When it comes to the equipment used there are no similarities. There are many differences in the equipment used in volleyball then there is in softball. You don’t use bats in volleyball, and you don’t use nets in softball. The balls used in volley ball are much larger compared to a softball. In

The last difference is that football players have to carry the ball to touch down but baseball players don’t need to do that.
In conclusion, though there are some similarities and differences
This could be a deciding factor when choosing the correct sport. Some people may think softball as a more of a “tough man” sport. Or a person that plays volleyball,he/she is has more skills that someone that plays softball. Contrary to what
First, you must know the comparison of a softball, a baseball, and both of their bats. A softball is 12 inches in diameter, and a baseball is 5 inches. Also, a softball is heavier than a baseball, so therefore it takes a lot more effort to throw and hit. Though, a softball is bigger, it is also bright yellow, being the same color as the sun. When you’re playing softball in midday, while the sun is beating down hard on your skin, and your eyes, it may be a little harder to see. The diameter of a softball bat is usually around 2 ¼ inches, but a baseball bat is around 2 ¾ inches (The). The softball bat may be just a tiny bit smaller than a baseball bat, but when you're playing, it makes a lot of difference.
A softball infield, being substantially smaller than a baseball infield, is 7,200 ft2 (Trifoso). This is a huge difficulty because the infielder has less time to react to the ball and get the batter out at first. An infielder in softball must get it to first base in 3.2 seconds, which is more than a second faster than a baseball infielder would (Trifoso). That is super strenuous to do because if you have one make one little mistake, the batter is safe at first.
The speed in between pitches in baseball is really fast compared to softball. For example, in between each pitch
The object of softball is to score runs by hitting the ball and touching all the bases without being tagged or thrown out. Softball games last for seven innings. The pitcher will pitch to a batter until one of four things happens: The batter gets three strikes against him/her. A strike occurs when the batter swings at a pitch but misses it or hits it foul with less than two strikes against him/her, or when the pitch passes through the strike zone but the batter does not swing at it. The pitcher throws four "balls," which are pitches that fail to pass through the strike zone and which are not swung at by the batter. In this case the batter "walks," meaning he or she is awarded first base. The pitcher hits the batter with a pitch. In this case,
Ever since 1887 when softball first became a sport, individuals compared the two. In the past, baseball was the most watched sport in the United States, which earned baseball the nickname of America's’ Pastime. During that time, individuals did not take women’s athletic abilities seriously, for which no females
Softball for many people is the way of life, we eat, sleep, and play softball. Softball is a great sport for a lot of girls that want to be active and even stay out of trouble. Softball can be great for starting conversation because on the field you always have to talk, so your teammates now what is going on and where everyone is on the field. But when you play softball you always have a rush of enjoyment, and nerves.
Every sport has their own terminology and language that only players of that sport understand. In volleyball it is important to know the terms used. The terminology that a volleyball player first learns are: pass, set, hit, kill, double, serve, and the positions on the court. Every player’s exigence for knowing and understanding the terms is for the player’s and team’s success. Without the knowledge of the terms used, a player will not comprehend what is going on, what plays are being made, or what the referees are expressing.
Softball is a sport that is known throughout the United States and the world. Softball originated on Thanksgiving Day in Chicago in 1887. The game was actually said to have begun as an indoor game. Softball was started by a group of men who had gathered at a club to watch the Harvard vs. Yale football game. When the news came that Yale had defeated Harvard, 17-8, one Yale supporter, overcome with enthusiasm, picked up an old boxing glove and threw it at a nearby Harvard alumni, who promptly tried to hit it back with a stick. This gave George Hancock, a reporter for the Chicago Board of Trade, an idea. He suggested a game of indoor baseball. Naturally, Hancock's friends thought he was talking about playing a game outdoors, not indoors.
Softball and baseball are known as the same sport. As of a girls ball it is much bigger than a boy’s baseball but the boys ball is known for is hardness. www.buzzle.com. The male’s field is bigger than a girls diamond/field. The most common and noticeable of all is that a male’s ball is white while the female ball is yellow/green. The overall concept of the game is the same just a few small differences which consists of gender, fast or slow pitch, and both field and ball sizes.
America’s pastimes are Football and Baseball, which are similar yet vastly different. Enough though Baseball and football may require some of the same talents they are also different in many ways.
In the game of softball the baselines are only sixty feet long. Therefore, you must run super fast in order to be safe at first base. However, baseball baselines are ninety feet long, so the infielders have more time to get the runner out, and the runners have a longer distance to run. Softball pitchers have an advantage because the pitching mound is so close. An elite softball pitcher can throw speeds topping seventy miles per hour. This means a softball pitch can reach the plate in only thirty-five hundredths of a second! That is actually faster than it takes a 100 miles per hour major league fastball to reach home plate. The baseball takes thirty-eight hundredths of a second. After locating the pitch, a softball batter only has about twenty-five milliseconds to decide to swing or not. That is about fifty-five percent less time than a major league baseball player has. The game of softball can be very challenging for a batter. However, it can be even more challenging for an infielder. When balls come off of the bat at about one hundred miles per hour, a softball
Hard work never goes un-noticed, and although I did improve, I had acquired the label of ‘outfielder’. The position that wasn’t home to me, but I was forced to recognize as my spot on the field. My first year of Varsity softball arrived and I made it clear infield is where I wanted to be, but my coach’s confidence in me continued to lack to match the level of mine, along with the fact the returning third basemen was a veteran. And the outfield is where I was sent, yet again.
I love playing softball and it is the best sport ever if you ask me. Some other athletes prefer baseball, basketball, volleyball, track, wrestling, or even golf. Some people might even prefer to watch those sports then to play them.
Through the movies viewed in this course this semester, we saw women who were able to play against men and still keep their femininity. Nothing is lost when playing sports not traditionally meant for a particular race or gender. Society must become more understanding when it comes to the sports different types of people play and hinder from stereotyping anyone when they participate and perform well in that sport.
By turning women away from playing certain sports, we are influenced to believe that they are not as qualified to play, compared to men. (Creedon, 1994). Ironically, women on the field seem to have to act tougher than the men. If an
