To better understand Walt Disney, you must first know how it came to be. Becoming familiar with the founders and the reasons the founders wanted the company. The type of family life and how the founders made their dream happen. There were hardships, but the brothers did not allow the hardships to stop them. Once Disney became established, you will learn about other things that Disney got involved in outside of theme parks. The type of audience that Disney appeal themselves to, are babies to adults. Disney is a giant empire, but they still have competition, which keeps them on point, therefore they must keep evolving. Walter soon acquired 27,000 acres close to Orlando. Walter wanted a second theme park that he would call Walt Disney World. Unfortunately, in 1966 Walter was informed he had lung cancer, and he died shortly thereafter in December of 1966, he was 65. Roy still went on to open the park in 1971, and he named it Walt Disney World. Walt Disney today is still one of the largest companies in the world. Although it started out as a studio, today it is recognized for much more. Radio, television, and so much more are now available through Disney. Some of the products that Disney offers is cable programing, radio, parks and resorts, and a cruise line. The company is in Burbank, California, where the headquarters at 500 Bueno Vista St.
Comcast, Time Warner, Six Flags, Cedar Fair, and Universal Studios are all competitors of the Walt Disney Company. The target market for Disney may seem to be for children only, that is not the case, Disney main priority is the family. Disney caters to the young at heart, and it is because of this quote from one of the founders Walter Disney “Your dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway."
