Walt Disney came up with the idea of Disneyland while watching his daughters play on the carrousel at Griffith Park. The very bench that he envisioned Disneyland on can be found inside the park on Main Street. The Happiest Place on Earth opened on July 17, 1955. The grand opening of Disneyland was a complete disaster.

Only they are not speakers, they are Smellitzers. They spray out scents such as vanilla or peppermint to draw you into the shops. The Smellitzers are also used on some rides and attractions to make the experience seem more realistic.

He knew if he purchased it under his own name, the price would go up tremendously, so he purchased the land under the name of M.T. Lott (Smith). A reporter who was on to Walt, asked him if he was the one who purchased the large amount of land in central Florida, to which Walt replied why would he want to purchase land in a place where you could not build, where there was a mass amount of mosquitos, and it rained all the time, this was clearly not a place meant for a theme park (Horvath).
