Geographic refers to a region of a country or the world: Hong Kong Japan, Europe Australia, and most definitely United States. Disney strategically position themselves where everyone loves, warm climate. Knowing and studying people behaviors, Disney realized that Florida and California would be a place where family can unite, and enjoy themselves.
Demographic is about age, gender, income, ethnic background and family life cycle. Disney perceived that their audience range in different ages, so they have organized their entertainment accordingly. Disney knew that all families love to enjoy life and have fun. That is why it’s not for kids only but for the whole family. That is why Walt Disney had prospered because they believe in family.

Walt Disney set a vision for the company – to provide wholesome family entertainment. Everything that the company did was aligned to this vision and corporate philosophy.
Psychographic –The average income families, who live in urban areas. Disney has many luxurious hotels to visit with different income levels. Disney beautiful cruise line is target for the cultured class. Disney most definitely planned, strategized and targeted to determine the appropriate way to offer satisfaction.
I chose to watch the movie Zootopia by Disney Animation. Although it is a children’s movie there are many stereotypes hidden throughout the film. The star of the movie is Judy Hops, a small rabbit who dreams of being a police officer. Her parents tell her it is practically impossible for her to be a police officer because no one of their background has done it before. Because she is labeled as “prey” she is not seen as police officer material. All the other law enforcement officers in the movie are bears, lions, rhinos, tigers, and other predators. They are meant to be intimidating and fit the “cops are tough” stereotypes.
Apart from the stereotypes, recent Disney princesses have been counteracting the stereotypical images of a Disney princess. They are no longer waiting around for their prince to come and be with them. Instead, they are using their intelligence to achieve their dreams and aspirations. Also, they can be independent and that they don’t always need a man (Bowser n.p.). The portrayal of love in these films are different from the others. The characters are not focused in waiting for their prince. Rather, they were trying to achieve their dreams. In "The Princess and the Frog", Tiana pursues her dream in becoming a restaurant owner. She didn't need a male counterpart to be able to feel happy but only wanted to fulfill her dream to feel happiness.
Disney strongly portrays gendered stereotypes using their eleven official princesses. Young children, specifically young girls in this case, are extremely susceptible to being influenced by the portrayal of these gendered stereotypes. Golden and Jacoby performed research regarding how preschool girls interpret the gendered stereotypes shown through Disney Princess media, through both the young girls’ pretend play behaviors and the discussion of the princesses. Golden and Jacoby performed this research project in order to examine the perception of young girls in relation to princesses and awareness of gender-role stereotypes, a different research study found that girls who lived and accepted gendered stereotypes, in believing that women
In 1942, Walt Disney and his crew created the animated film, Bambi. Although the movie was not a success at first the popularity of picture has certainly grown over time. In all of Disney’s works he was not only able to attract the eye of the children, but also attract the compassion of adults. Essentially, he used animation, featuring appealing characters and clever events, to symbolize the issues that were around the world. In essence, while children were in awe of the story that they believed was cute and fun to watch, adults could relate to the symbolism and stereotypes throughout the film.
The exposure to mental health influences how a child continues to perceive and act towards people with mental disabilities. Different depictions can define how society views the mentally disabled and how these people are respected, in general.
Throughout the course of eighty years Walt Disney has made a lot of movies. In these movies there are characters that dance, sing, and do things that normal people could not do. Their movies have been very profitable over the years; however, these movies have faced some serious issues. Walter Elias “Walt” Disney is the of the founder of The Walt Disney Company. He started off writing short little stories that could be ran in television and movie theaters. Some of these short stories were little pieces of “perceptions of reality and constructing a normative “vision” of the world” (Tavin and Anderson 21). Disney always seemed to have an issue with race, some show how different race’s were portray in real life. Walt Disney Movies even from the start seem to always have some sort of issue with race so viewers wanted more diversity because of the effect that it has on children
The representation of females in Disney films can be interpreted to be very sexist and miss-leading to young girls. In nearly all Disney films women are represented as house wives that are vulnerable and need saving. Although in our postmodern society where laws are now in place to protect females from being discriminated against (such as the equality act.) Disney has not kept up with these changes in the view of many people and still remains to include these sexist stereotypes.
Overall, the connection between girls liking Disney princesses for their looks was a little bit higher than all the other columns. While looks were usually focused in the earlier Disney movies, girls liked the looks of Rapunzel the most. Despite this, younger girls did not just favor looks like predicted. Personality and actions were favored highly as well. A love story was not mentioned nor favored, evident that nobody chose their favorite princess based off of prince charming or for romance.
Stereotypes are defined as a general idea or image towards a particular race or group of people. It is making a judgment towards the targeted group without even knowing them whether it is about their gender, race, culture, or religion. Stereotypes are harsh and people assume things based on what they hear or see, and the media is a good example at showing the viewers what they want them to see rather than showing them the truth. It affects their image and the stereotypes don't go away, rather they stick to the group like a label and people will forever associate them with the label and its always a negative idea. However focusing more on the cultural stereotypes, people generalize a country based on an action of one person or
People grow up conditioned to believe heavily in gender roles. One of the major contributors to our way of thinking is the media. Many young children watch Disney movies, through which, they learn how certain actions affect how they are seen; even material goods like clothes becoming symbolic of not only gender roles but status. At that age, people are easily influenced by the information that is presented in front of them. What little girl didn’t dream of being a Disney Princess? What little boy didn’t want to be a brave saviour? Girls are taught to want to be damsels in distress, waiting for their princes to come and rescue them. They are taught to be feminine and use their body in an exclusively seductive (and arguably, provocative) way.
While making animated films projected at youth and at others who Disney hoped to infuse innocence into, being the entrepreneur he was, he also had to keep in mind the business of his company. Disney wanted to promote the carelessness of being young, and desired to show even adults that they, too, could be happy and relaxed. Being able to do so and keep audiences of all ages interested enough to save his company from bankruptcy is indeed a challenge. Nevertheless, Disney was able to generate films that people of many different generations to enjoy, and all the while become extremely successful.
A little girl sits on the floor with her gaze fixed on the television screen in front of her, watching magical images dance before her eyes and catchy songs flow through her ears. Even though she had seen it at least twenty times before, she still loved The Little Mermaid just as much as she did the first time she watched it. As she watched it, she longed to be a beautiful mermaid with a curvy body and wonderful singing voice like Ariel. She longed to be saved by the handsome Prince Eric, and fall in love and live happily ever-after like Ariel did. In today’s society, women strive to achieve equality between the sexes. Despite the tremendous steps that have been taken towards reaching gender equality, mainstream media contradicts these
Disney is one of the most successful and largest companies in the world. They have their hand in nearly every form of entertainment as well as media, and broadcasting. Disney is best known for their animated films, unique cartoon characters, catchy musicals, and fairy tales that most of us were first introduced to as children. They are one of the few entertainment companies in the World whose primary demographic is children and teens. Nearly everybody is familiar with the Disney name and its brand, and its realistic to suggest that nearly everybody has experienced a Disney film and animated character at some point in their lives; which may have helped to influence them or their behaviors or even their
