Nightingale Community Hospital identified a recent sentinel event involving the ambulatory surgical center. A sentinel event is defined as an unexpected occurrence involving death or serious physical or psychological injury, or the risk thereof (http://www.jointcommission.org/sentinel_event). A three year old female presented to the hospital on September 14th for a planned outpatient procedure. The child was accompanied by her mother. The mother registered the patient with the registrar prior to the procedure. The patient and her mother went to the pre-operative area to complete the informed consent and the necessary physical assessment. The pre-operative nurse obtained the necessary contact
Product production comes with many types of costs. Four of the most common costs are prevention costs, appraisal costs, internal failure costs and external failure costs. These four costs are called quality costs and are costs that all businesses that produce products will pay. The amount of money that will go to each cost is dependent on the amount spent on the other costs. In other words, an increase in one type of cost can result in a decrease in another. Businesses need to understand the nature of each cost in order to understand for which cost to budget.
A. Nurse sensitive indicators are factors that are directly impacted by nursing. There indicators fall into three categories; structure, process and outcomes of nursing care. The structure indicators are the organizational piece of nursing care. These relates to the amount of staff on duty at a given time, how many RN's are on duty and experience level of the staff. For example, evidence indicates institutions with a higher number of RN’s possessing a Bachelor Degree in nursing result in improved patient outcomes. The process indicators measure nursing care such as patient assessment, patient care and intervention. These are the organizational policies and procedures of nursing. The patient outcomes are indicators directly related to
Cognitive Development refers to the construction of the thought process that includes problem solving, remembering and the ability to make decisions, from childhood up to the adulthood stage. Cognitive/Intellectual Development is the ability to learn, reason, and analyze the fact that a process begins from infancy and progresses as the individual (Educational Psychology). Cognitive Development contains events that are logical, like thinking and remembering. Some factors remain the same throughout many of the theories on cognitive development. All theorists agree that people go through specific steps and/or
I would involve all who concern by starting with the children while understanding the sensitive nature of this group, i.e. their culture, traditions, and values. Increase access to health risk assessments to control high blood pressure and obesity. I would promote, design and plan a program to make eating healthy for the residents who do not have access to affordable options. I would prevent and reduce food insecurities, obesity and diabetes by designing concepts for a healthier and reasonable community.
ACA expanded Medicaid to all Americans below 133% of the federal poverty level from the previous cut-off at 138 percent. The enrollment for Medicaid and CHIP has been simplified. ACA prohibits insurance companies from denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions. This is known as guaranteed issue. ACA also extends dependent coverage for young adults unto the age of 26; so they can stay insured on their parent’s insurance. Individuals upto 400% of the federal poverty level are entitled to tax subsidies in order to assist them in having a health insurance. The subsidy is meant to achieve 2 goals: (1) provide sufficient funds to ensure that people can afford their health insurance premiums and (2) provide a financial incentive for people to choose lower-cost plans. These two goals are opposing, but both are essential. Families who earn more than 400% of the FPL can also purchase health insurance from the exchange, but they receive no subsidy.
help manage his care more diligently (Hardin, 2017). Complex Care Map tools are effective in identifying at-risk patients for frequent hospitalizations and it creates a “flag” alert which prompts all EHR users on the patient’s complex care needs. In this case, proper documentation on Mr. Head Injury’s past hospitalization visits was easily accessible to all members of the care team via a reliable and effective informational system.

I don’t have an issue discontinuing the practice of doing monthly physical counts on 100% of the inventory and going to a random, cycle count procedure where small numbers of items are counting over time with a goal of cycling through the inventory quarterly. I would request that the managers provide documentation to Bill of the items counted, even if it doesn’t result in an inventory adjustment. This can be done in a quick email identifying the items counted each week and the results of those counts. The purpose would be to document the cycle count process as part of our internal control of inventory. Much like we do on the upholstery side, Bill could supply a summary of the items counted in a given time period and the results of those
In Task 2, the owner is correct in his need to move away from a sole proprietorship and into an entity where his personal assets will be shielded in the event of a business failure. There seem to be three major ways to remove this liability, which include a C-Corp, S-Corp and LLC. For this situation, I would recommend an LLC for the business owner and will explain why it will benefit him in the issues of liability, continuity, income taxes, profit retention and control.

The Arizona Legislature is now at day 32, which is more than 30% of the way towards the “mythical” 100-day legislative session. Arizona is one of a few states whose legislature has no constitutional or statutory end date. The Legislature starts the year off with a rule stating session shall last 100 days, the rule is often amended and the 100-day goal missed.
