Have you ever thought of the people who move to America from other countries with poor conditions and wonder what their education must have been like? People from other countries are not able to receive the education they need in order to be able to go and improve their lives in order to have a better life for themselves and for their future families that could possibly have one day. When children are forced to move from other countries to America they take longer in order to be able to grasp the education skills they are being taught since not everyone learns they same they are forced to have to be able to learn new ways of education. Education in third world countries have improved over the years, but there are still flaws to the system while
I don’t get the education system. Science has proven, “the brain isn’t fully functioning until 10 am.” Studies have shown how the pressure to get into college and to do well in school have caused mental illness such as depression and anxiety. You don’t learn stuff unless you have enough sleep but it’s hard to do that when you have homework to do and tests to study for. The brain needs a break in order to fully comprehend things however the brain can’t do that if it’s overwhelmed. Many documentaries, books, and articles have stated how messed up the education system is and yet no one does anything about itt. Instead, it continues to get worse and people wonder why the rate of mental illness and suicide rises.
There was a time when America’s education system was top-notch according to the culture and society. With time, a myriad of things has changed, but unfortunately what has not evolved is the American education system. The country is still following a system which was not designed for the current global economic climate. Equality, as positive as it sounds is not as sufficient when it comes to education. The system treats students equally yet expect a similar culmination and outcome. Every child has his individuality and distinct abilities; one cannot judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree. Conversely, a few of the prominent reasons why the education system is failing are overcrowded schools, the rise of technology, and following the same old school hours.
America used to thrive on its education system and that is why it became one of the greatest nations in the world. Education is the backbone of our country, and we must give high priority to improve its current condition. Unfortunately, in the past couple of decades, the education system has been regressing. It has been on the decline and not as effective. The quality of education in a country has an influence on GDP growth, social cohesion and social well being in general. In order to improve the quality of education in the U.S., the following must be taken into consideration: the structure of our education system must be reanalyzed, we must compare and contrast our education system to systems of other countries with higher rankings, and finally, there must be a solution.
Education plays important role in society. It determines the final development of an adult’s personality. In today’s society most jobs require a University degree. To receive a University degree students need to rely on a good education system. Does America provide this? The American education system has relied on the grade point average system for a long time. The problem with this is there is not a universal GPA grade point system varying from course to course. This creates an inaccurate way to determine ones overall achievements. Teachers have different standards than others, grade inflation can occur and students can be exposed to different learning environments. Does the education system need to change to create fairness?
America possesses the necessary requirements for a country of well establishment, but there is always room for improvement. Each year, America attracts foreign citizens that lack the academic qualifications to climb the up the industrial hierarchy; this lack of education only enhances the need for more intellectual individuals. As a minority, I will proceed to better America by becoming a determined and educated African American female. The desire to improve our surroundings through innovative ideas and inspiration is there; however, people lack the drive to make these dreams happen. America needs more determined citizens, who see that this country has endless possibilities that need to be take advantage of. Through education, people can better
The United States of America used to be known as one of the greatest countries to be apart of. From the jobs to the economy to education people loved to be apart of the American culture. The problem many Americans are facing today is poor education. Since America is viewed as a high profile country many people have prominent expectations on what they are receiving, specifically the education. The fact is that there are major problems with all levels of the education system today. Starting with early education, teachers are quick to say children needs to be medicated or put into special education. Proceeding to the general or high school education where kids are graduating but not prepared for what’s after. Lastly how higher education or college can hardly be afforded in today’s society. As a result of the failing education system, many parents blame the child or society when in actuality the failing system is corrupted by some teachers, lack of preparation, and lack of affordability in higher education.
Over the course of many years, several things have changed, including technology, science, and people; however, our culture and idea of education have not. Some of these problems include teachers that are not being as valued as they should be and students who are changing both physically and mentally, but are still not being supported by our education system. The education system itself is also problematic as well, but it can be fixed with a change in our culture. Teachers and students are the base of the education system, and by not helping them, the system is not helping itself. Students are gaining new emotions and viewpoints, but the education system has had a hard time keeping up, even teachers are changing but are still undervalued.
The American Education System is not meeting the needs of current students. If anything, the system is not building a sturdy foundation for the future working class. Schools have existed for many years and every period they have worked differently. However, every school’s main purpose was to educate students to be efficacious later in life. Modern day schools are corrupting students with added pressure, standardized tests, making less accommodations for special education students, not following laws, and take away individualism from the students’. The students of modern times are the people of our future and the future does not look too bright with the current American Education System.
Differently than some other countries, the United States has no national educational system since each state in the country has its own. However, some research from 1999 and 2006 shows that the American educational system is falling in a national scale. Experts argues that the system is ignoring cognitive and social aspects that are important for children’s development which would further help them for adult life. Studies indicates that the educational system is not achieving the real purpose of education: prepare kids for their personal and professional life. As a result, what could be worse than a school system that limits creativity and fails to develop kids with critical thinking and diverse social skills needed for adult life?
The human mind is perhaps the greatest object on the earth, animate or inanimate, but without the proper training, the mind is a relatively useless tool. Through the development of formal education systems, humans as a whole have tried to ensure the training of all minds so as to continue prosperity for the world. Most of the time, though, education systems do not realize the harm they are doing to developing minds and the subsequent negative consequences. Among the largest of these inadequate education systems is the American primary schooling system. The American education system is in fact failing; it continues to deplete children of their natural creativity and thirst for knowledge while preaching conformity, which in turn creates an
A few weeks ago, I was walking downtown, when this random came up to me and said “You in school? That’s good, that’s good. Education is important.” From the state of her hair and clothes, and the smell of her breath, I assumed she was homeless. I didn’t really pay much attention to her, because homeless people are so common in downtown Atlanta. I was just hoping that she wasn’t going to ask me for any money! After a while, I started thinking about what the homeless woman had said; “Education is important.” Growing up, I had always been taught that people who lived in the streets had been afforded the same opportunities as I had, but they had simply chosen to ignore them.
“Multiplication is for White People”, by Lisa Delpit, presented the facts about what was missing in American education. The missing pieces added fuel to the already burning achievement gap fire. Throughout the text, I connected personally with several of the opinions and information provided. According to Delpit (2012), “educational policy [had] been virtually hijacked by the wealthiest citizen, whom no one elected and who [were] unlikely ever to have had a child in the public schools” (p. xv).I recalled many conversations with my colleagues pertaining to this very idea. How could someone, who had no idea what it was like to be in a classroom, dictate what I did in that classroom? Unfortunately, it seemed that the wealthy citizens in society
The miseducation of the poor starts, like everything else in the United States of America, with money. In a simple math equation, money should be put where money is lacking. The less funds a school has, the more it should obtain to reach an equality with the other school systems. This isn’t the case, as most of the money given to the school system is put into the middle class. Whereas education for the middle class is refurbished from good to great, education in poverty stricken areas is pushed below the levels of acceptability.
Everyone has a dream or a goal of what they want to be when they grow up. Yet it is up to each individual to live up to their dreams and accomplish them. In order to help accomplish them, education is needed. In the United States, the education system is ranked towards the bottom of the ladder in standardized test score rankings. How can this be? It is because the education system is taken for granted. In other countries that outrank the United States, education is not readily available to just anyone. In many cases, it is unaffordable for families to send their children to school, so they instead send them to work in factories and other means of employment. In the United States, education is free to all, thanks to taxes, and even in some cases colleges can be easily affordable through financial aid, scholarships, and loans. Residents of other countries often come or strive to come here to get an education. America has the most universities than any other nation. People who arrive here to learn from overseas appreciate what is being offered here because they know they are better off here than back at home. On the other hand, people from my age group often dread going to school and look for any excuse to cut class. There are so many opportunities in America,
In the early 1800’s Horace Mann helped bring about the public school reformation. This gave public schools financing, and made it so that everyone had the chance to be equally educated and receive the schooling needed at the time to make it in the world. For the past two hundred years, most American adults still see it in such a way as that of the past. However, The American education system takes money into account in modern day U.S.A. rather than the the varying degrees and types of intelligence that can be brought out in people.
