What Caused The Civil War Analysis

Slavery, as Abraham Lincoln often noted, was the root cause of the Civil War. Tensions over slavery dated back to the contradictory nature of the American Revolution of 1776 that resulted in a republic simultaneously committed to freedom for whites and bondage for blacks (Barney W., p. 61). Within years North and South reached the point at which compromise was not possible. At that time Civil War had been started.

Although some historians feel that the Civil War was a result of political blunders and that the issue of slavery did not cause the conflict, they ignore the two main causes. The expansion of slavery, and its entrance into the political scene.

The causes of the Civil War were complex and have been controversial since the country began. Some causes include; states’ rights, economics, and slavery. The most recognizable and popular cause is slavery. The freeing of the slaves was an important moral issue at the time and one of the greatest causes of the civil war. "It was only by carefully avoiding the moral issue involved in slavery that Northerners and Southerners could meet on any common ground." (Goldston, 79). The time came in which our great country would finally address the moral issue of slavery. Although there are many different causes to the American Civil War, the main cause was slavery because other causes are rooted in the issue of slavery.

The Civil War between northern and southern states was a consequence of contradictions of two social systems inside the country. At the basis of these contradictions was a question of slavery, completely determining economic and political interests of South. North strived to enforce Federal government power to protect their own economic stability. As a result the South wanted a separation and the North was determined to keep the country unified. Therefore, besides slavery as a main root cause of the conflict, there were other causes as economic differences and political events which led to the Civil War.

One of the main reason that caused the civil war was the reaction of the people. This is all started when summer got beat my butler with a cane to the senate floor. Because butler got a overwhelming thanks from the South. In document k, it says “southerners sent brooks dozens of gold-headed canes to replace the one he broke over Summers head”. People can see the actions wouldnt of happend if Summer didn't react this way. This was a very harsh thing to do to butler, but we can see that the South had more power at this point.The North was being judgemental because of how Summer represented them and how he always had to say something about the South. Butler was a little too extreme but he got straight to the point and made the South be ready

The Civil War, 1861: a battle commenced from small differences. These differences, although they seem insignificant, divided a nation in two. Within this division, detriment broke out, leaving a once perfect nation broken and scarred from war. The Cause of the Civil War are the economy of the Northern states was driven by industries, the same was driven by agriculture in the Southern states. The southern States favor were slaves and they needed the slaves to work for them and in their fields. The federal government decided to end the unethical practice it was strongly opposed by the politicians from the Southern states. Northern States are free states they don’t have slaves and Southern States are not free states and they do have slaves. When the first seven states declared the secession on march 4 1861 which prompted four more states to join them.

The views of Holt were weaker in comparison to Holt’s and also neglects the major role slavery played before the Civil War. The Civil War was started because of the never ending divide between the North and the Southern states and the fight on slavery.

The civil war, an innovative war, between the Union and Confederacy was a war of uncompromising disagreements. This war had taken place in various locations throughout the united states from 1861 to 1865. Over 237 named battles were fought, ones being the “Battle of Fort Sumner”, and “Battle of Palmito Ranch. “ The union left with victory on their hands, but however there was a point during the war where the confederacy was winning, leaving people amazed. Three main reasons the civil war had taken place were the disagreement on abolishment of slavery, politics on geographical agreements, and differentiation in economics.
